  1. Hodgins. At first I thought you might be giving him a disease. It's unfortunate this year rookies probably won't have much chance to EARN a place on the roster. it may come down to "stick with what you got for the sake of consistency" and "roll the dice on a new guy hoping he can get up to speed quickly and improve the WR squad. Maybe they go with "one of each".
  2. That sure is/was the way most teams went about it. And for a while I would have agreed it was a good strategy. But in the past couple years several teams have churned through multiple kickers. So if the brain trust thinks they see something from this guy that makes him a much better sprocket than the guys likely to be there as an UDFA, then I'm all for it. If he's not "The Man", they missed on a 6th rounder. If they don't take him, maybe the Bills are one of those teams having kicker competitions several times a year, because their lack of the reliable kicker cost them a game, or two. I can only imagine the reaction then: "There were highly rated kickers in the draft. Why didn't Beane draft one in the late rounds?" It's a risk either way. I like the confident play.
  3. I don't need to look at highlights, as I happen to see a lot of Bulldog football down here. I'm not saying he cannot throw a deep ball, but he has limited arm strength. And while I'm not totally enamored with the "underwear Olympics", his performance there sort of exposed that. With that said, I think that was a particularly bad day for him. But the guy does not have a cannon for an arm. Like some others have mentioned, maybe he becomes a Fitz or a Reich
  4. I don't know what to say. If you can tell from watching that on some teams the WRs are only aked to run very few routes as opposed to other teams, I really don't know what to tell you. But if you are saying, if he can run the routes he has been asked to run well, he should be able to run them all, then I don't know what to tell you. I would agree that, if he runs all the routes he is asked to run well, then he can probably do a good job on many others as well, I'd have to agree.
  5. Beane is on record as saying he asked his team to stop him if he tried to trade back into the first. And he is also on record as saying he tried to make a few trades, but stopped when he realized the board was falling their way. I think it's pretty safe to say Beane WANTS to wheel and deal. But he also will allow the board to come to him. Ah gotcha. I'm old school. That's just a depth CB/DB to me.
  6. What's an NB? I'm fine with this. Anyone complaining about a 7th rounder needs to get a life, IMO.
  7. i interpret that as very good at running the routes he has been asked to run. But he hasn't been taught to run as many routes as they would like to see,
  8. What about his WR talent? Isn't THAT the biggest point here, other than his arm strength? That's where I'm at with him. The Bills will find out soon enough if he arm is as ragged as some think. IMO it is nowhere near as week as Chad Pennington's and not all that much weaker than Josh Rosen---and many here were very high on him as a FIRST round pick. My guess is, he'll be fine as a system backup QB. And as some have suggested, maybe with some development, maybe even get to be a starter. But I woul'dnt be the house on that. And what's the very worst case scenario? He sucks and gets cut. Happens to 5th rounders every year. No biggie, IMO, to take the BPA at this stage.
  9. Dunno what this was, but I love it now.
  10. That's pretty much the analogy I've been using. Now, given this season's unique situation, he may not be able to be the #2 right out of the gate, this year.
  11. I see a lot of Fromm. I think he will have a long career (injuries excepted) as an NFL backup. Intelligent and accurate. Can read defenses. Rag arm for downfield passes. Now, in no way am I equating the two, but wan't Brady considered to have a bit of a rag arm when he was drafted? I know he had no deep ball then. Maybe he can teach Allen some things, and Allen can teach him a few. Not expecting him to be a mad bomber or anything. But you are right, Josh is WAY more talented. Or maybe the Bills can get something for him down the line.
  12. I may be, as well. Hard to tell till they line up.
  13. Of course. He has no position on the Bills yet, if he can't beat the House. That is, if there is some preseason this year.
  14. I'm not sure why, but that still bothers me. What a complete tool. I agree to some extent. I think it would be smart for kickers to be complete (kick, punt, kickoff). But that can present a bit of a problem for some teams. Injury is probably the biggest one. If he gets hurt in a game, you lose both P and K. And these days, most holders are the punters. This allows them to practice together with the LS and not interfere with the backup QB or WR who should be practicing with the offense. Then then there are the two different shoes they need (though I think this is rather minor).
  15. If he is quick off the line, you just may be right.
  16. Honestly, that makes me feel even better about this.
  17. Was thinking the same thing. But I've noticed the OL talent that's been taken in the last 2 rounds have terrible grades. Maybe the Bills FO thinks the same way.
  18. He's a big'un. Competition at the back end of the WR position. I have to admit, I expected they would start adding OL MEAT about now. But I'll sit back and trust the process. I;'m not stupid enough to complain about 6th round picks. But I know there will be some to do so.
  19. Of course. They should have picked a starting WR/CB/OT here!!! Christ. It's the 6th round. A kicker has a better chance of helping this team than just about any other position.
  20. Any idea how long the others were, game conditions, etc? I suppose I could just go look it up myself. I really thought Blankenship would be the first K off the board, but not even close. I don't think he has a particularly big leg either, though. 6th rounder? Take it for what it is. I'm on board. And yes, according to many, he was the #1 PK this year.
  21. Did he miss many over 50 or did he not have many/any opportunities? Makes a difference, IMO.
  22. Just checking to see if the board crashed.
  23. Thanks Hap. Mask ordered and donation given.
  24. What I wanted to know is, do all of those people live in that house? If not, WTF happened to social distancing?
