  1. Un $%%%%$ believable in this thread. Tuel played a decent game for a rookie. He threw a pick 6 at the goalline. If the idea you cut the QB for throwing that pass then you could cut every QB in this league---including Brady and Manning. He appeared to run it as a hot read. Had he altered the read to Stevie it would have been a TD and the ball game. The DB who intercepted it actually made a mistake on the play by not covering Stevie He got a lucky INT. He also had about 7 clear cut receiver drops. The second TD return wasnt on Tuels fault. TJ Graham didnt secure the ball. At the Cincinnati game they ran the ball 3 times inside the 2 and failed on 4th down....this time they thought about doing something different.
  2. That is because buffalo have a high % of season ticket holders. I think it was something like 2,000 tix per game to the general public. Much of these ticket sales happened before the season. Hockey reports tickets sales--not gate counts.
  3. There was a piece at the end of interest that McCain had proposed that publicly financed stadiums couldnt blackout games played there.
  4. I though that game was protected? I read in a few articles that the NFL pushed CBS to unprotect that game allowing them to take it---the reason this was going to be a 4:05 game and thus limited on how wide spread it could go. This could mean they owe CBS a favor---unless they balance it out and also force FOX to give a protected game. week 12 safe DEN at NE week 13 flex ???? Giants at WAS---this may be saved if the division title is still within reach to the winner. week 14: flex ??? ATL at GB week 15 flex??? CIN at PIT week 16 safe for now. NE at BAL---BAL still has to be in the hunt for the playoffs.
  5. MY THOUGGHTS: The team is still 6-2 and missing two of their best three defensive players. Their remaining 8 games are as follows: Steelers at home (probable win) Carolina on the road (loss) Broncos at home ( loss) Texans on the road (loss--because its at Houston) Browns at home (likely win--but it will be close 4th quater 3/4 pt lead by Pats) Dolphins on the road (loss--at miami--Buffalo needs them to lose here) Ravens on the road (loss--because its at Baltimore and they play alot better at home and at this time they likely have somethin to play for) I have New england 9-6 entering this game if they win one of those games they are 10-5 Bills at home I see Buffalo enter at 9-6 and thus winner gets the division. If they lose to Miami and Buffalo beats Miami then buffalo would have second tie breaker of division record New England has not impressed---they have survived.
  6. Guys...his is my career. I'd take a job like this in a heartbeat if it paid a respectable salary. Do ths kind of work throughout my career it's just the data that is different. It sounds like his job had multiple components. 1. Analyzing the Bills behavior and their tendencies in situations...thus it gives the orchestra a way to be unpredictable. The situations are based on down, distance, where on the field, when in the game, how close the game s, home/road, grass/turf, etc 2. Doing a similar analysis f the opponents. 3. Come up with metrics in scouting at deciding which player is better based on data at hand. For example post scouting combine they take the data collected and their season/career stats and rank order the players....then the scouts and GM would then use their intangibles and gut to then do some slight adjustments or realize if they may have thought this player was a star by playing at a big time program but this data says otherwise. When it comes to the business side 4. Advertising strategy...best way to market the team regionally or nationally. This isn't just getting them to buy tickets but also getting them to. Buy jerseys, hats, jackets, and other stuff like promotions such as a family package of 4 seats plus other added items. 5. Return on investment for team marketing, charity events, and community promotions. 6. Determine why customers don't renew seasn tickets and figure out what needs to change. Similarly how can you get more people to buy season tickets. Determine different marketing schemes. Why does someone go to 3 games one season but then none the next season. Here is one example, instead of trying to sell season tickets, instead look at selling partial season tickets. The club could market a package of 2 games ( one division, one non, one early season games 1-4, one late season games 4-8 ). You pool people together and offer them a discounted ticket price. How do you market this and when you get a ton of people who sign up for this promo how do you set up an algorithm to look them up as single blocks. Thus you would have 3 groups of 2games assigned to the same seat, and another group assigned to another pair of seats, then a customer who gets one game from one and one from the other. ( ths customer would get 2 non division games). Thus 7 customers buying 2 seat 2 game tickets. In doing this the right way also limits how many singleton seats you are left with.
  7. What it sound like s just immature bullying. I'm sure this incident wasn't the first time. I would react the same way and ()$& this frat house behavior and walk out.
  8. As far as the compensatory pick goes---it should be a 4th. What I have seen is a 1st who leaves---> 3rd comp pick 2nd who leaves---> 4th comp pick Then the comp picks are a net gain or loss. If buffalo was to sign a former 1st or 2nd round pick from another club as a UFA then they likely dont get compensated. i would trade Byrd for a 2nd + 3rd or 4th.
  9. The point of the defense is to get pressure on the QB so the LB only needs to stay with the receiver on short throws/hot reads. the failure of the play was not getting the QB pressure when the play was designed to do.
  10. In Seattle the stadium isnt truely in downtown. Its just South of downtown in an industrial area. The Port o Seattle is just to its West. The stadium is roughly where I-90 ends at I-5 neighnoring the international district. the highways are elevated here. There is very limited parking near the stadium. The only reason for this is when they built the football stadium they also built a secondary facility that could host indoor events. Parking near the stadium is limited. You have similar lots to what I remember parking for the Aud where you are basically parking under the highway. Seatle has a light rail line between downtown Seattle and the airport and a commuter train line (similar to what you find in NYC that runs on the same line that AMtrak runs) and they utilize numerous park and ride lots around the area to shuttle people to the stadium. Because the football stadium and baseball stadium are next to each other , events can't happen at the same time because of crowd caps. They want to build a new Arenanext to the baseball and football stdiums. You could have a hockey/basketball/arena event +baseball game at the same time or a baseball + soccer game (where they restrict seatting) but you cant do a baseball and football game. What happened last night in St Louis could not happen. They would have to move one. Also Seattle has scheduling rules that when they do have same day events at both stadiums that there has to be something like 5 hr start time difference which could allow the one event to exit and the next event to then take in new traffic. also Baltimore has little immediate parking lots available. Most of the parking for games needs to be done using city parking garages in downtown. Its impossible to do events at the same time, they have light rail option from the stadium. Baseball has half the crowd as football so a Thursday/Monday night game in Baltimore is extremely difficult to pull off because the parking lots used by football fans are usually used by downtown employees. baseball is a little more manageable because you dont have people coming to the game as early as football and a good number do a ball game after work....thus no need to move their car. Its a problem because the main entry to downtown ---395---will get clogged.
  11. What makes the Bills home unique is that its build in a residential area---not in downtown. It creates a very unique experience where you will park at someones home instead of a parking lot.
  12. They won 9 games by one score. All these were up in the air until the end of the game. the only convincing win was against JAX. The other win was the last week aginst HOU that was by more than 1 score. With KC 6 of their 8 wins were one posesion games in the 4th quarter that a play here or there the game goes the other way. Everyone they played is under 500 with Dallas at 500
  13. The compensation Buffalo would get for Byrd leaving would be at least a 4th. They should be getting a 4th in 2014 draft because of Levitre.
  14. No this wwas in Saints territory.at the Saints 29...first series after the TD after a touchback
  15. Have you seen KC and who they played ??? look at who they played and the advantages they had. JAX--need I say more DAL, PHL, NYG---Reid knows these teams and they arent all that good this year. Dallas, the best of the division, was a 1 pt win at home. Tennessee---backup QB Oakland---this was a 7-7 game till late in the 3rd quarter also at home Houston--back up QB in a 1 pt win at home cleveland---third stringer---was still a 3 pt game at home Dont see how Buffalo will lose this....
  16. Actually in retrospect....they just run--force Detroit to use a TO then given the 4th down stop Dallas would have been able to run out the clock. What also hurt them was Dallas penalty in 3rd down that allowed them to keep the clock with a minute left.
  17. 87 , 2, 8, 9, 21 29, 21, 18, 26 9, 54, 6, 17, 22 2 50+ passes and 5 20+
  18. As I said on another thread.....they needed to hold them tto FGs and not TDs and also not give them gift turnovers and create turnovers. TD 1---off a turnover with a drive start at BUF 21 TD 2---broken play on defense. these happen to every team every game, NO was able to execute this mistake TD 3-- 2 minute drill---McKelvin INT negated by Mario facemask (questionable call since the penalty in the OL cause this) TD 4--defensive penalty on 3rd down stop gives NO a 1st down TD 5--could have called Offensive PI on the TD because of the Wr pushoff Buffalo needed to hold them to FGs instead of TDs....this would have been somethin like 19 or 23 points and it still is a game---despite the turnovers.
  19. I wanted Buffalo to keep Greer but he left after the 2008 season. Part of the reason he wasnt resigned is because he was viewed as a 3rd CB in their depth chart with McGee and then drafting McKelvin in the 1st round in 2008. They also had more depth at CB so as a 3rd CB he was easily replaceable. Greer was wanting 1st/2nd CB money that Buffalo wasnt going to give based on 1 strong year that 2008 was.
  20. This is sophmorish...... Its based on seasons they were the starter + points for pro bowl (highly subjective) + points for all pro + points for HOF unsure how they score a starting season If you are a team who regularly plays a 3 WR offense your 3rd WR is penalized. same true if you regularly use 3 CBs. Buffalo have 2 quality RBs who they flip in CJ and freddir---ones rating will likely get hurt since they arent listed as starting both even though they both play alot. If you use LBs for roles...like one is primarily a 1st/2nd down LB while another is mainly a 3rd down linebacker---the 3rd down linebacker is penalized.
  21. Unsure what roster move was made to fit him in.....
  22. KC has a decent defense and a decent running game so anything can happen. I see easily see KC go 11-5---lose to INDY, SD, DEN, WAS, and Buffalo. If DEn sweeps them then they go 10-6.
  23. The only reason Dallas and Philly have that strong records is because of divisional play. Dallas is 3-0 within their division, Philly went 2-1 and their other win was against TB.
  24. I live in Seattle....he was a univ of Washington product so its been a larger stroy here http://seattletimes....sobit25xml.html He was found at his home. Likely from a heart attack. He had got charged with vehicular manslaughter and spent a year in jail for it. Lions cut him. after his trial and time in jail Buffalo gave him a shot and he played a few games for them. Since then he has had numerous alcohol related offenses. his older brother was also a football player and 1st round pick who got rookie honors. He died of a coccaine OD that caused a heart attack.
  25. The fact is if you want to you can make stats say whatever you want to show. Think about this.... If you are a perenial 3 and out offense but have a stellar defense you are going to have alot more possessions on both sides of the ball. Your yardage will suck and you wont necessarily have more plays. if a team does 3 and out where a team has the ball 2:30...each team will get the ball 3 times a quarter and 12 times a game.
