  1. Actually with this game on FOX---fortunately the Giants are on CBS this week. If the Giants were on FOX then Syracuse, Utica, albany, Binghamton would have likely aired the Giants. In syracuse if there is only one game and both the bills and giants ae on FOX---Giants game is aired. they could travel down to Corning....
  2. Utica just has a FOX affiliate and CBS is from Syracuse. the road team decides the network. NFC (FOX), AFC (CBS)
  3. Corning/Elmira is not part of the blackout zone so going down 390 you will find it on TV.
  4. The problem is the Referees arent going to set the ball until officials are down the field. In theory if the official set the ball and teams could do a quick snap then you could get offsides and illegal formation. This is why I would actually like it if they adopted college rules that if a first down is made the clock is stopped until everything is set then restarts on the referees whistle. With 20 seconds left anda long downfield play the receiver instead of going down throws the ball as a lateral out of bounds which would be a penalty (unsure if its 5 or 15 or 10 second run off) but if he was to do this with 15 seconds uit may be a way to get the clock to stop.
  5. Has anyone forgetten----EJ is a rokkie while Vick has been around some time....
  6. i said it right when I saw the replay....the balls laces wee not pointed toward the goal posts but to the side.....this causes a weight imbalance and the ball hooks slightly to the ....right....
  7. i agree ----home vs road does make a difference. prior to week 17---the concern games I have are New orleans, Atlanta, and Baltimore in losing. If they win any of those games Id be pleasantly surprised. toss up games will be at pittsbugh, at Miami. the others they should win. They should be between 9-6, 10-5, or 11-4 going into the rematch. alot of times the strength of schedule has to do with the opponents they played the year before. How good teams do has lot to do with getting the right combination of opponets and the divisions they play. a couple of years again Cincinati benefited from having a weak combination of opponents in the A-South and N-West. Tampa bay and Kansas city also benefited from playing the weaker divisions as well which allowed them to earn 10-6 records.
  8. Mayve I will be buried there when they break ground....
  9. Based on last years QBs.... Luck---people circled him 3 years out. RG3-- He was also expected to step right in and play. Tannehill---had the big benefit of having his old coach as OC...thus familiar with the offense Weeden-- Being older, and thus more mature, was more likely to be able to step up and start. Wilson--surprise With Seattle (I live there and have seen many of the games) it was a primary running, strong defense, and safe passing to start the season. Had flynn started over wilson Seattle likely wouldnt have been that far off on the team performance. He may have been more of a factor in Seattle's early season loses (at division foes that all were loses). In 2011 Seattle was a WC contender. If the kicker made an early season last second FG to beat Atlanta then on week 15 Seattle would have controlled their own playoff fate. Indianapolis and clevelnad---I think its called luck (not the QB) Last year it was the opposite ends of extrmees. Cleveland after week 14 was 5-8...a play or two in prior games they could easily have been 10-3. They had the ball with the chance to take the lead late in the 3rd or in the 4th in 6 of the 8 loses---in the other two--Giants losss they had an early 14-0 lead with the ball in the redzone---apick 6 change momentum. Against Cincinati it was a back and forth 7/14 point defecit. If the defense could have stopped Cincy on one series the game is tied. This is why many people think Cleveland actually may compete for a wild card spot since they have a strong defense and strong RB and a QB gaining experience. they should be able to turn some of these loses to wins and thus compete. with Indianapolis....9 of their 11 wins were by one score or less and decided in the 4th quarter. They only convincingly beat JAX and HOU (with HOU resting their players in week 17). Had they not had this Luck and say ony won 5 instead of 9---they end up 7-9. This is why I am skeptical of some teams predictions of how Indy will do this year.
  10. i have seen on a few threads people do not understand Spillers contract. Spiller's contract does run through 2015....but the last year is an option year Spiller can opt out of.....which he will very very likely do. Effectively the end time of his contract is after the 2014 season.
  11. I agree....if they tell the unblocked DE to just gun it for the QB and ignore the RB then teams will have to change. But I do think the play would still be called as an element of surprise. If teams use this as their bread and butter defenses will key in on it and shut it down. The idea of a mobile QB is nothing new. If the QB is a serious threat to run the defense has to game plan to help contain him. the issues isnt as much getting tackled---its getting hit. RG3 and others need to be smart in running and limit the impact shots they take. No issue in letting them use their mobility. Russell doesnt have the size that Cam, RG3, or Kaepernick have. He seriously needs to protect himself on getting torpedoed by defnses on running plays.
  12. The other factor is how much reach their was in drafting the player. I lessen the idea of a player being a bus if they were the concessous pick by many if they were in the same draft position. An example would be the OT Williams Buffalo picked at #4. another factor--if it was overall a weak draft. If your pick was a bust but so worse the players picked right behind that pick were also busts---that lessens the sting. Something else seem to forget----in the NFL--especially when it comes to defense---a player needs to be able to fit the system the team plays. Sometimes a player sucks because they area mismatch in the system. I have a different perspective on this... If the player was someone everyone agreed should be picked there and was a bust it lessens it than if they player may have been a reach by a team. There is just that random chance a player busts. With Curry alot of it had to do with injuries. With Maybin ---many teams didnt have him that high--- compunded by the fact of the players passed over picked right after playing in a similar position have had much more success.
  13. Remember--where did Miami's QB come from--A&M---college station is picking up the Miami game. austin is home of Univ of Texas.....Goodwin came from there. Houston is picking up Oakalnd/Indy because Indy is a division rival and Houston plays Okalnd later in the year.
  14. Last year under Wandsted the front line philosphy was very different than the year before, and this year. His philosphy was to use the DL to contain the blockers and rely on the LBs to make plays. Bills LBs werent all pro--thus problems. heir strength was and still is in the front 4---you need to utilize those plays to the max.
  15. The problem isnt with CBS---but with FOX. Alot of the stations are undecided. s of now much of the nation is getting CIN @ CHI OAK-IND traditional OAK and IND areas along with Houston NE-BUF NY and NE TEN-PIT---much of the east coast and south through Miss KC-JAX traditional KC and JAX markets MIA-CLE is south FL and N Ohio. Right now the panhandle is also for this game but I could see Tallahassee flipping to the Buffalo game Their are so many 1pm games because CBS airs the mens final of the US Open at 4:30. Thus, exclusivity rules are lifted in some markets. Starting in 2015 CBS doesnt have the US open finals---ESPN has excluive rights and they may contract out some coverage to CBS. ESPN also may have the tournament change its start time so the finals weekend doesnt happen the same weekend as NFL season kicks off. As of FOX coverage right now....early game. DET-MIN most of the great lakes and midwest SEA-CAR...carolinas and much of the western US. ATL-NO...LA, Vegas, parts of northern california, much of the SE US. TX, OK, NM, CO, ME, RI TB-Jets....much of FL, NY, NE and scranton PA. Outside of traditional markets (primary, secondary, and tertiary) stations usually dont decide until Tuesday or Wedensay morning the week before the game. This week FOX has been the hangup.
  16. chandler has been fine----its a matter of coaches and play calling. The offense Buffalo has operated tended to not use the TE much during most of the drive but then using the TE much more when inside the opponents 25. Finding a good offensive TE tends to be very difficult to do. Maybe 1 TE per year comes from the draft class as a good receiving TE. Other facotrs that skew the statistics..... 1. The QB---better QBs tend to distribute the ball to their receivers. So on some teams the TE operates as the escape hatch while on other teams its the RB that does this. You really need to split the numbers based on design routes vs dumping offs to avoid a sack. 2. The style of offense---some offensenses dont rely on the TE much. I think Mike Martz didnt even use a TE as a receiver. 3. How do tthe team uses there TE. For example NE uses there TE's more as slot receivers than actually blocking TE's as part of the line.
  17. still wish they went out and got Bernard Pollard.....
  18. The players they cut were PS eligible. They knew they needed space to fill other positions of DB and OL. As others said---why make the players all excited only to then cut them in a few days when they needed to add players.
  19. Buffalo put on their PS 3 players they had in camp and a 4th was a player they drafted last year that they wanted to go on their PS last year but he got claimed. He was the potential steal of the draft. He was on the top 3 list of UDFA post draft and Buffalo got him. Its a bigtime bonus to get a starting player who was undrafted. With Easiey ---this was his 4th camp. year 1 IR, year 2 he came out earing the 2nd WR spot but the heart ailment came up, year 3 he wasnt used much in the preseason and got on the PS then activated later in the year, year 4 now I think they were targeting Kauffman for the PS. But they liked Streeter better. I still see them signing Kauffman later on if he isnt picked up.
  20. Remember buffalo odds were stacked against him going in. SJ, TJ, Woods, and Goodwin were locks. Thus 1 maybe 2 spots up for grabs....this was a battle among 8 receivers going into camp. They can still pluck him off their PS if injuries occur. Similar thing happened this week. Seattle cut its 4th round pick, a WR , and signed him to their PS. San Francisco took him off SEA PS and brought him on their 53 man roster because of injuries they have to their WRs.
  21. What the read option is doing is just utilizing the mobility of your quarterback....nothing new here. Teams that had a mobile QB who could run would have an advantage. The defense has to account for him running somehow.
  22. I think they need Hopkins to get a date too......
  23. It has everything to do with new team/new blood. In Carolina...after Cam Newton...none of the 2011 picks are left on Carolinas roster.
  24. Trufant......he was cut by Jacksonville whose head coach was his DC the past couple of years in Seattle. what does that say to you about trufant?
