  1. This is what Seattle is trying to do. they have a bunch of starts still on their rookie contracts so they could afford to go out and sign Bennett and Avril on short contracts and then trade for Harvin and sign him. Most teams function with a cost slotting per position. This is part of the reason Levitre wasnt resigned....he wouldnt have screwed up this costing model.
  2. The NFL isnt forcing them to open on the road. The problem is The Orioles wouldnt adjust their schedule. This dumbfounds me. How hard is it to postpone Thursdays game to Saturday 1pm for a day/night split DH. It would be in Septemebr so both teams will have extra arms to pitch if needed. They cant move the game to 1pm on Thursday because of both teams need to travel into Baltimore from 7pm games on Wednesday. As for potential game for the Ravens.... Outside their divisional foes its Miami, Buffalo, Denver, Chicago, and Detroit. Favorite would be Miami given their signing this offseason. Buffalo is possible but they are unattractive. Denver game CBS wants for a DH 4:25 game. Of the NFC games...CBS would prefer having the Chicago game over the detroit game. The chicago game is one for a 4:25pm DH game. Every team not on ESPN/NBC will be on an NFL network game.
  3. I agree.... I wouldnt mortgage the future to draft a QB early in this draft.
  4. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/02/17/new-usfl-aims-for-new-spring-football-league/XCnd7SJ1G0tfdiuJB7xUFI/story.html looks like it is looking to form an independent AAA of the NFL where agreements could be reached. The long term plan appears to have 16 teams in non NFL cities where each team develps affiliations with 2 BFL teams for them to operate as a developmental/spring training fro football teams. the teams will likely allocate it to be 20 players from 2 NFL clubs and then 15-20 players would be free agent signings from college.
  5. If Buffalo dosnt sign anyone significant this off season they will get a comp next year(my be--a 5th)st a 2nd rounder off an entry level contract this year. Historically that has been the going rate. There is a formula based on where they were drafted and what they igned for.
  6. m not saying Geno is poor---but he isnt worth being drafted so high when you look at past QBs drafted in the top 10. Whats the difference with Gino and the other QBs Barkley isnt on the Bills radar---he doesnt have the arm strength to through in Buffalo winds.
  7. I could see them trading a 2014 #1 to get a 20s first to get a QB they feel they wanted. They are looking at Qbs due to come out in 2014. what i have seen over the years with QBs....The players you think should be in the 1st round disappear the next year or players out of nowhere emerge as high 1st round picks. QB scouting is effectivly a crap shoot. For every Andrew Luck there are 25 <insert dud QB here> An advantage(???) this team knows alot about one QB in particular...If they dont pick him and opt for someone else...they may no something other teams didn't
  8. i would taje Charles over Matt---He cant throw in buffalo winds.
  9. There are certain player that are difficult to find---so you sign and keep them whenever possible. pass rushing LB/DE. blind spot OT, shut down iso CB are three positions that you pay a high price for. Guard are easily replaceable. I look at Guards as the hockey's version of 4th lines, or baseballs version of utility players.....they are easily replaceable. in terms of OL salaies....blind side OT> other OT> Center> Guards> utility OL players
  10. Because it involve a Colon....
  11. OT Will Willford was a totally different issue.....Willfords contract had escalater clauses in them that are illegal now. His clauses made him the highest paid offensive player on the team. Thus with a QB like Kelly he would get paid more than him so the cost to Buffalo with the contract was far higher than a rebuilding Colts team. Levitre would have been nice to keep but for aGuard a team budgets $x/yr for and he was way beyond that. Had they been proactive and signed him to an extension early on they could have paid him $4M per (which would have been around their price tag). Id pay him mor because he had versatility which is an asset in a pinch where a player goes down you could move him to cover. Paying a guard $7M+ will cause the OTs and C to request much more. A team cant be paying $40+M on an OL and be able to compete.
  12. It looks like Kolb and Cassel were released, Jason Campbell is availbel too, then there is Flynn in Seeattle. Who does Buffalo sign?
  13. The idea is Glenn could possibly move to Guard if they drafted a OT. The thing now with money is Guards are cheap and easily replaceable. The blind spot is the most expensive.
  14. We still have our pride to lose.....
  15. I'd take a shot with Bay
  16. Would Buffalo try to sign him to a contract that is reasonable? What CB?
  17. Cntract is much more manageable...the only issue is what his signing bonus was. Terms are good.
  18. I live in the Seattle market..... Seattle didnt do this to trade sidney Rice.... they did this move in part to prevent SF from getting him, and it adds an element to their offense and complements Rice. The issue now is with Baldwin and and Golden Tate. Both are in the last year of their contracts so effectivly this year could involve trading one of them or them playing out to see who is resigned. The team is playing to win now. they can absorb a contract for Percy Harvin now because of their cap space and they have a bunch of starts still on cheap EL contracts. Next season is when cap casualties could happen with them.
  19. This wouldnt have happened....this was a brotherly love discount where he was willing to accept a trade to a competitive team. Since Baltimore plays them next year during the regular season there was no way in hell they would trade him to Buffalo and come back to beat them. He was only going to a team that they were not facing next season.
  20. Now San Fran has their #1 (31) and KC #2 (34). at last count they have 15 picks in this draft so they arent drafting 15 players. They will be more inclinded to use them to trade up or trade for future picks. What I would propose if I was Buffalo.... To BUF: SF 1st round, high 3rd round (from Carolina) and one of their 6th round TO SF: BUF #1 in 2014 An add on to this would be conditional 2014 picks could go either way of the BUF pick is a top 10 pick, and more to SF if BUF makes the playoffs, thus pick 20-32. If you assume Buffalo would be 14-18 in draft order next year, the value of that pick is around 1000 pts while the point totals of these picks equates to around 900 pts.
  21. OL is not a need for them in the first round. Even if Levitre isnt signed, a guard can be found off the street for cheap. They can also draft one. You balance where your needs are and where the player is rated in your internal player rankings, also taking into account what your team needs are and depth at the position in the draft. Drafting the best despite your need is also dumb. A team that has 2 good RBs doesnt put a high pick on another RB.
  22. He is a good QB. You cant equate playoff team to QB. It matters the players around him. He gained his credit for being able to win close games with winning them in the final minutes. Atlanta had a lucky season. They finished 13-3 but they easily could have been 9-7. 9 of their 13 wins were close games that a play here/there could have been losses.
  23. I live on the west coast. Watched quite a bit of PAC 12 football as well as saw a good number of Kaepernack games. When I saw Kaep play I saw something in him.....the only issue was that I couldnt tell in watching the games was how his arm strength translated to the Pros and throwing Pro style routes. This QB from Arizona didnt scare you. Remember he was stuck behind Nick foles in the program so he had only one year playing starter. He would have probably benefited from another year as starting Q with Arizona. As it is he is slated more as a 5th round pick. Given his performance at the combine he may go up into the 4th. But I dont see the 3rd round.
  24. Lt played 8 years of 300+ carrier. He started at 22-29 yrs old. Then he fell off. Alexander///also did 300+ carries from 2000-2005. He turned 29 at the start of the 2006 yr and his production fell. injuries was a big factor here. With FJ He had his best avg in 2011 before his injury killed the season in week 11. He was 30 in that season. Last year he had more injuries, plus recovering from his 2011 injury tends to take longer than a yr to get back to 100% old form.
  25. It is NOT age---it is carries + injuries. You take a young RB and run him 300+ times from 21-25 he will be the same as a 30+ yr old back. Its even more so taking into account what kind of hits they get based on their running style. so a power back this will be harder.
