  1. He gets cut he is not a free agent until he clears league wide waivers which is based on draft order. Its likely he gets claimed. there is little risk given his contract.
  2. there is a legal difference. for example if you have a swimming pool without a fence you have far more liability if a kid goes into your pool and drowns than if you have a fence up around the pool. Same thing here...there is a potential legal liability. If they have a fence up and someone sees it they will walk around to avoid it instead of taking a short cut. http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/223336/37/Bills-Cut-Access-At-Popular-Shortcut-To-Stadium-
  3. NFL network showed the drive by EJ in its entirety. the full game airs tomorrow morning. i want to see EJ do what he did against a #1 defense. the stat line is buffered by playing against 2nd and 3rd level players.
  4. This was done with Easley last year. He didnt play much and wasnt thrown to when he played. Was cut and put on the PS. Rogers was one of the top 5 undrafted players to be signed by a team so many teams are familiar with him. He wont clear waivers to get on the PS. a team will take a shot and claim him. He is low 1st round/mid 2nd round talent.
  5. Your quoting stat lines without taking into account who the QB was playing against. the first 5 possessions the teams are playing against starters and some mix of starters and backups. EJs stat line in terms of YPA was worse during that period. As for Kolb having more experience---his last game action was against Buffalo in early October so its been 10 months for him. I watched the first game...yesterday's I listened to it online and saw some action that NFLN showed.
  6. The Rams-bills deal was just about to the T in terms of a draft pick value chart. Rams are closer to the playoffs than buffalo is as of now. their missing piece was the speed receiver that Austin is. They accumilated aboatload of extra picks in the RG3 trade with Washington. As for the other deal....it had more to do with different systems and team depth. With buffalo picking another ILB in the draft Sheppard was expendable. in indy hughes was viewed as expendable. Success in this league is so much based on systems and players who fit the systems they are playing in.
  7. You have to remember EJ is still young and he didnt light up the colts starters. I would be more comfortable if Buffalo wasnt playing New England to open the season. You dont want to sacrifice such an important game to a season because you have a rookie starting. Kolb started last year at NE and won which should not be ignored. Need to compare apples to apples----both teams were WC teams last year so their defense are close comparisons EJs first 5 possessions against IND: 1-2 -6 0-0 fumble on the handoff charged to EJ 2-5 25 ran 24 produced a FG 1-2 7 2-3 13 produced a FG (off a turnover in IND territory) total: 6-12 39 ran for 24 caused a turnover Kolb first 5 possessions against MIN: 0-1 0-1 threw an INT 1-2 10 ran for 7 0-2 7-8 49 FG total: 8-14 59 ran for 7 caused a turnover EJs total numbers are better because he played against the 2nd and 3rd stringers from mid 2nd-3rd quarter in both games. What I could see them doing instead next week is give both QBs a chance to play with the first unit. This is the fairest way I think you could evaluate their performance. What matters most isn't practice,... but how a game is handled. The way to do that is alternate the QB over the first 8-10 possessions. I wouldn't be surprised if the team doesnt announce who the starting QB is thus forcing New England to plan for both. I wouldn't be surprised they name Kolb the starting QB just for that game, but still plan on putting EJ in there either on a new series of downs or on new possessions. Sort of like a Woodley/Strock situation in Miami.
  8. The deal was an OLB/DE for an ILB---with buffalo drafting an ILB they felt he was expendable and Hughes was stuck behind depth after Indy switched to a 3-4 system under their new coach last year. different perspective on this: . http://forums.colts.com/topic/17941-colts-have-traded-jerry-hughes-for-bills-lb-kelvin-sheppard/
  9. TJ has decent size and the speed you need. Buffalo keeps him given its his 2nd year. If he was a Whaley guy he is staying on this team. I look at Goodwin as being more of a returner this year than a WR. WR is a position that does take some time to learn outside of doing go routes. I have never doubted Easley. He earned the starting job before the heart condition. then last year he was kept hidden in the preseason so he could get on the PS.. Easley does have decent size and some speed (not goodwin speed). SJ will not get cut. Rogers.....he is one they will want to keep because his overall upside he could be great. I dont think he will get on the PS because if he is cut someone will claim him. Kaufmann--likely PS
  10. What do you think will happen at QB? I think they give both EJ and Kolb 3-4 series---alternating series so each player get to play with 1st stringers, 2nd stringers, and some 3rd stringers. Tuel plays the rest of the game--likely from mid 3rd quarter on. Also with the game---NFL Network should be airing the game in its entirely live since its the only game on in that slot.
  11. Tuel...gamecast thinks Kolb is still playing...thus skewing his stats right now.
  12. NFL netwoek showing game
  13. Elliott on the cart???? Jost heard Murph say it....what happened?
  14. Actually no.....Right now Elmira/corning is within 75 miles of the stadium but is not on the list of secondary markets. Syracuse used to be within 75 miles when syracuse DMA had Yates county in the finger lakes north of Watkins Glen. About 10-15 years ago or so Yates was switched to Rochester given that Rochester was a closer drive and some of the exurbs started to reach into Yates county. Not all markets 75 miles are declared as secondary markets. there are some markets that are slightly farther than 75 miles. The NFL network now is starting their red zone style of roaming of games. they are showing highlights of the game now.
  15. The issues addressed in this are: 1. Was he taken to high ? 2. Was he the best QB this year? What they barely touched on at the end of the piece was the idea that Philadelphia was interested in him using their 2nd round pick on him. Buffalo could have traded down again with San Fran to pick 30 and still select him but then Philadelphia could have jumped ahead of them to take him. San Fran later traded up to Dallas in the 1st round. Had they done that deal first then got Dallas' pick, then traded it to buffalo---Buffalo would have done this and still take EJ. What also wasnt talked about much was that Chip Kelly tried to recruit EJ to Oregon. They also didnt mention was the connection he has to the Bills extended family in being Bruce Smith's godson. Buffalo had indirect channels and inside info on EJ.
  16. If they kept Perry Fewell as DC when Gailey took over as coach the team would have been more successful.
  17. I think he could still be signed to the PS
  18. I see the team keeping...I see them keeping 6 at least. safe: SJ, woods, Goodwin, Graham likely: Rodgers---in terms of upside potential of those remaining he has the highest ceiling. battling for a spot: Easley, Hogan, and Brad Smith I can see them cutting a player first to put someone else on the in season IR then resign the player. Brad smith has an edge because he can be used in the return game/special teams and an emergency QB. PS: Kauffmann
  19. Not all that worried since the ONLY home game in BUffalo in December is against Miami. the other game is in toronto thus an automatic sell out from Buffalo's perspective. The previous game in Buffalo will be against the Jets is 11 days before thanksgiving. The games of blackout concern would be Cincinnati and KC.
  20. 7-9 would be: sweeping Jets beating MIA once beating CLE, JAX, KC, and either TB or CAR Most difficult home games: NE, ATL, BALT Most difficult road games: NE, NO, PIT They nhave the benefit of playing a possibly resting NE team to close the season....I wish they werent playing NE to start the season and instead played a weaker opponent. Then I would be more comfortable with EJ starting. Kolb has actually had some success playing against NE.
  21. I dont think Sampson is eligible for PS. He was drafted by Arizona in 2011 he played in 12 games which counts as an accrued season (6 games or more---unsure if that means on the 53/getting paid or actually being dressed). 1 accrued season means no PS eligibility for them.
  22. I would claim Asomugha in a heartbeat if he was cut---worth the risk/reward. It just shows how NFL systems really do matter in the NFL. Revis could bust in TB ....not likely but it could happen. what hurt Nnamdi Asomugha in Philadelphia was his style of play doesnt mesh with the way Philly played in terms of man-to man, isolated coverage, or zone defense. He may be better suited to the role of just leave me to this one receiver and let me follow him around the field instead of worrying about zones/areas and assignment responsibilities.
  23. Lindell we be kept under preseason week 4 game as will Brad Smith. Remember in the final preseason game they tend to rest the starters so I wouldnt be surprised to see Brad smith play a quarter and a hlaf at QB. Smith???who will they have left as a blocking TE? Troup is another one likely on the bubble in week 4---not week 3. I would agree with all of them.... Sometimes if they have a player who has talent but they think is a little raw (not contribute this season) they will hide him in the preseason games , cut him at the first cut with the sole purpose of signing him to the PS.
  24. If they can go 5-1 in division (sweep MIA and Jets), go 2-0 in noncommon games (JAX, KC) and then 2-2 againsts AFC North (beat CIN and CLE)and 2-2 against NFC South (beat TB and CAR) you are looking at 11-5. 11-5 usually means playoffs.
