  1. Did you factor in the tax savings when considering that players employed by teams in states with no income tax play road games in states with an income tax they have to pay tax on those earnings in those states? It’s nice not to pay income tax for home games, but there my be up to eight or nine games a year when they do have to pay income taxes.
  2. Fans may tend to overlook that embarrassing loss on national TV because the fluke of that loss was exposed in the subsequent regular season rematch and then the literally perfect offensive performance in the playoff game. NE*** embarrassed themselves in those games far more than the Bills did in the Monday night game. Unless of course not forcing a punt in two consecutive games is nothing to be embarrassed about.
  3. Not a fan of the incessant stream of consciousness reporting.
  4. I remember seeing one of the astronauts on a later lunar mission plant the flag and then pull the banner straight out to unfurl the wires inside.
  5. I stopped speculating about where Gilligan and his writers might take a story a long time ago. I just know I’ll enjoy the ride wherever it takes me.
  6. 63 year old K-9 is not interested in 40 year old Jason Peters.
  7. Agree entirely. The scene with Don Eladio when Hector says to look into Fring’s eyes, you see the flames reflected in Gus’s glasses. Just a perfect symbol of Fring’s pure evil.
  8. Tough crowd up in here. I liked everything about this episode. Elegant story telling. Regarding the Gus wine scene at the bar, he was repressing his homosexuality (remember we learned his gay lover was killed by Don Eladio in the flashback scene in BB), which is an insight into his psyche. Whether it was necessary or not is up to the viewer of course, but I appreciated where the writers were going.
  9. Comrie and Lubushkin are a couple of sneaky good analytic signings. I thought Lubushkin had a good series vs. the Lightning this year.
  10. I here ya. I’d much rather be the hunter than the hunted. That said, show everybody why you’re the favorites.
  11. Best: Crushing the Pats*** in the ‘03 opener. Worst: 2018 Ravens. Favorite: 1980 Phins. That game had meaning.
  12. You give these guys too much credit. Bon Jovi was literally a partner with a Toronto group. I’ll have to withhold my comments on trump as a prospective owner. But since either would have realized an immediate increase in franchise value by moving to a more lucrative market, I’ll just says that neither would have cared about being viewed as the next Modell.
  13. I don’t recall that at all. The only time he made such a threat was around 1970/71 when he threatened to move to Seattle if he didn’t get a new stadium. We built Rich and he never threatened to break his lease and move. He was staunchly against teams relocating, including his own.
  14. Saving the franchise? No. Rekindling fan interest and laying a new foundation after the Kay Stephenson era? Absolutely. Once Rich Stadium was built, there really was never a threat of the Bills leaving until the lease agreement expired in 1998 and by that time the team had established dominance. If anyone saved the Bills in Buffalo, it was the Pegulas when they bought the team. Another owner would have paid the penalty and moved the team.
  15. RIP, Mr. A. Thanks for showing us “gophers” the ropes so long ago. Give Mr. K a high five when ya see him.
  16. Maguire because he’s great man to have a beer with, Josh because I suspect he’d be great to have a beer with, and Matthew McConaughey, because after reading Green Lights, his autobiography, he’d be fun to talk to while having beers with Maguire and Josh. Although, if Sofia Loren were still in her prime, …
  17. I was under the impression that every team except the Bills had pro bowl backups at every position.
  18. The NHL doesn’t allow restructured contracts during their term. Contracts may be extended, but only in the last year of the deal.
  19. I’m sure that’s the first thing Poyer’s agent will point out.
