  1. Yeah, LaPierre left out the part about the bad guys wearing body armor. Only good guys with a gun AND wearing body armor can stop a bad guy with a gun wearing body armor. Assuming, of course, the good guy with a gun actually has the courage to act. Someone told me today that in all the cases where an armed “good guy” intervened in a “bad guy with a gun” situation that only 3% of the time was it successful. I’m gonna research that, but I would not be surprised in the least to find it to be true.
  2. Yeah, I posted a couple days ago how beyond ironic that is. And that you’d think Abbot and Cruz, so proud of their new gun laws, would be touting them by urging all attendees to strap up with their finest semi assault rifles and regalia to show their pride.
  3. Heard a couple of big wig politician speakers (won’t use their names lest this post gets deleted) at the NRA both trot out LaPierre’s tired line about how only a good man with a gun can stop a bad man with a gun. Someone should remind them that NINETEEN good men with guns stood outside of a room for over an hour and couldn’t stop ONE bad man with a gun.
  4. This is the mentality we are dealing with when it comes to the manufacture and marketing of semi-automatic assault rifles. This from Daniel Defense, the company that made the rifle used by the killer in Texas. Un F ing believable. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-courts/maker-gun-used-uvalde-shooting-long-known-incendiary-ads-rcna30631
  5. That’s a twist because in case after case of police shootings the claim is they shot because they were “in fear for their life.” It’s a universal defense.
  6. The protestations of various posters in these parts aside, decades of polling absolutely bears that out. It’s the politicians and the lobbying interests they are owned by that will not cede an inch of ground.
  7. Of course there is a middle ground. But when one side of the argument is against giving up even an inch of ground, the middle cannot be reached. And in places like Texas, the exact opposite is the case. That’s why federal statutes need to be part of any common sense legislation.
  8. I find it beyond ironic that Abbott is gonna speak at the NRA convention in Houston and NO GUNS ARE ALLOWED. You’d think the governor, so proud of his no license, open carry law, including semi-automatic assault rifles, would insist on celebrating his gun laws by asking everyone to openly carry their weapons at the convention.
  9. Meant to say mag. Needs to be a federal statute though. And please, no more “well, it wouldn’t do anything to stop gun violence” logic. That is so defeatist and does even less than doing something small. And that’s what that banning high capacity clips would be: a small step in a series of steps required to make it MORE DIFFICULT, read: LESS CONVENIENT, for those who engage in gun violence to wreak havoc on more people at one time.
  10. If only these mass shooters tried forcing sugar down the throats of their victims instead. They’d have stood a better chance.
  11. I know that. But high capacity mags for pistols should be banned, though. Besides, nothing looks more stupid than a high capacity clip hanging off a hand gun.
  12. Saying new gun laws will instantly make felons out of law abiding citizens is hyperbole. Perhaps we could look at a buy back program like Australia’s NFA law. Offer tax credits. There are creative solutions. Also, I doubt pistols are on anyone’s list to ban, either.
  13. Oh, Zach is thick alright. Thick and tired of getting knocked on his ath and thacked all the time.
  14. Yes, that’s that’s the answer: to harden every soft target in the country. Schools, shopping malls, grocery stores, and everywhere else that crowds gather all need to be locked, secured, and guarded. Make it harder for everyday people to go about their lives and continue to do nothing to make it difficult for these nut jobs to obtain the instruments we need protection from.
  15. Here’s the full article by June Thomas. Talk about lack of imagination and underestimating one of the finest writing/directing teams in history. I gotta see if she changed her tune along the way. https://slate.com/culture/2013/04/breaking-bad-saul-goodman-bob-odenkirk-spin-off-on-amc-bad-idea.html
  16. Who the F cares whether a murdering maniac is another Einstein or Lenny? Has no bearing on anything. If we need to question IQs, we should be questioning the IQs of those that refuse to address the issue. Heard from a relative of one of the first cops to reach the scene at Tops and what he described is beyond horrific. Said he will need lots of time and therapy as a result of what he came upon when entering the store. Perhaps some of these hand sitters that insist on doing nothing should be made to see what brain matter oozing from blown out eye sockets actually looks like.
  17. Only one common thread? There are other some others.
  18. The mother of all unintended consequences. Another great episode.
  19. Victory formation is my favorite play on offense. Here’s a novel idea; how about not being behind late in a game and allowing your opponent the option of running it? To the victor go the spoils.
  20. My “anger” lasted all of 10 seconds after the Chiefs drove to tie the score. My “concern” remains as I am still at a loss as to how completely unaware of the game situation we were when the Chiefs took the field on their game-tying drive. Whether is was McD, Frazier, the players, or any combination, that lack of awareness for the game situation has me questioning if we have the right people when it comes to crunch time on the D side of the ball. It was amateur night for those last 13 seconds.
  21. Never forgave Darrell Garretson and Mendy Rudolph for that foul call against Bob MacAdoo with no time left on the clock in a tie game that gave Jo Jo White three to make two at the line.
  22. He also strolled into stores for high volume clips and combat gear. Those items, along with the AR-15 should not be available for purchase by anyone, let alone mentally deranged animals like Peyton Gendron.
