  1. That take really flies in the face of the several reviews I’ve read, which all say the effects are spectacular as well as the writing, acting, directing, and editing. And when I consider these reviews are offered by cynical critics who were chomping at the bit to trash the movie, I gotta wonder if it’s really a good movie and worth seeing on a large screen.
  2. This kind of criticism really underscores just how good the show is. Remember “The Fly” episode in BB?
  3. RIP, big Bob. Thanks for the great Delaware courts memories. I still haven’t forgiven Chris Ford.
  4. Welp, even if you continue to move the bar, there are still players on the WoF that never won even a division title. Even the worst teams in history would have players deserving to be on their respective walls of fame.
  5. Per the bold, if that were the case then nobody would be up there, except the players from the AFL championship years.
  6. That others are deserving and get the honor before him is of absolutely no significance. It’s just a matter of time. There are significant differences in the process vs that for the HoF, chief among them being that the selection committee isn’t just comprised of media members tasked with making the political argument for a player’s inclusion. Various team personnel have input. Indeed, that’s one of the reasons guys like Byrd aren’t in yet. Current employees just aren’t as steeped in team history and tradition. It’s a kind of recency bias. Anyway, I’ll just agree to disagree and move on. Regardless, we can all look forward to the next inductee, whoever that may be. BTW, Cookie was the last player honored in 2017. But your point about Hansen is well taken.
  7. Again, other players being deserving of the honor doesn’t disqualify Jerry. Lots of ex players should and will be considered as well. Hughes isn’t blocking anyone. That’s not how it works. And I’d like to see others up there before him as well. As for the significance of the drought era that, too, has no bearing on anything. There are players up there who lived thru their own thin years on many poor teams. Jerry’s four seasons of being in the playoffs dwarfs that of several of them, anyway.
  8. Aside from being a very good player whose career ranks with several others already on the Wall, and contrary to your assertion that he wasn’t a good leader, he’s one of the most well respected players that locker room ever had. He was a player coaches and teammates alike could rely on to answer the bell game in and game out during his tenure here. That steady reliability over all those years counts for a lot. He was also a great community guy whose activities he sought to deliberately down play. I agree entirely about Byrd, Kyle, and even some others that should be honored as well. But just because others are just as deserving of the honor, doesn’t mean Jerry isn’t. It’s not like he’s blocking anyone from going up there.
  9. If I’m still alive when it happens, I’ll look you up and say I told you so.
  10. If Barkley makes the team at all, it will be as a practice squad player who won’t dress and be available on Sundays.
  11. Great Bill and future Wall of Fame designee. Best of luck, Jerry.
  12. Hack article. It’s as if they think that the books on Epenesa, Rousseau, and Basham have been written. Sorry, but you can’t judge these guys definitively before their third seasons. For crissakes, they are late first and second round picks. Was anyone expecting immediate Myles Garrett-like level of play out of them?
  13. There were moments when the Rangers looked just as wiped out. All game, the Crosby line tilted the ice in the Pens’ favor and the Panarin line tilted it for NY. I think the other two lines essentially canceled themselves out although the Rangers’ kid line was a bit more effective. If shots mean anything, and they often don’t, the ‘Guins had both more attempted (by a wide margin) and on goal (by 15). Also, the Rangers had 30 more giveaways in the game, 75 to 45. That doesn’t suggest they were a less tired team. All that said, I agree; the Penguins were fortunate to come out with a win.
  14. I was commenting that Malkin looked spent in the first period. By the 3rd OT, he looked like a geriatric out there. Is he still battling an injury?
  15. “42’s the mike! No wait, 8 is the mike! No wait, 13 is the mike! Screw it! They’re all the mike!”
  16. That’s because Taylor is a far better coach than Appert. Krueger saw him as a threat and had him jettisoned. That said, the Amerks have battled a ton of adversity this season, especially with injuries, illness, and call ups. But they are finally back to being healthy and look to be rounding into form just in time if that 8-1 drubbing they handed Utica last night is indicative of anything.
  17. Looks like the Amerks are gonna sneak into the playoffs after all. Marlies down 3 with a couple minute left. We get to see Samuellsen and Krebs join the boys in Rochester for the playoffs. Nice.
  18. Oh FFS, what contender isn’t an injury away from key players and having to play lesser ones? Your Mr. Yuck schtick is old. We all know you’ll find a way to crap on anything this team does or doesn’t do. There isn’t a can of RAID big enough for the bug up your ass.
  19. Good for him. But why the F should I have to cheer for the Bears because Kyle Brant is a Bears fan? Makes ZERO sense. Regardless, it was a fun bit. Like all his other fun Bills related bits the last couple of years. Well, fun for anyone with even the a little sense of humor. I think that stick in the mud might be misplaced.
