Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

Because that’s one of the line judge’s responsibilities on passing plays; to rule on defensive holding and illegal contact. -

Perhaps we have different ideas of game planning and what it entails for a pre vs. regular season game. I’ll just say I can’t call having a plan for what you want to accomplish in a meaningless game even remotely resembles game planning and leave it at that. -
Scottie Norwood didn’t lose that game; he just didn’t win it. Agree wholeheartedly about Bass, though. He’s got ice in his veins.

I doubt the Bills coaches spent one minute game-planning for last night. And while I agree that an offense that put up so many points isn’t in crying need of much, having that legit deep speed threat adds a whole new dimension and really benefits the rest of the receiving corps. I suspect opposing DCs would be losing sleep if we actually had that type of player. Not saying that’s Stephenson, btw. -

DK Metcalf says, “Hold my beer.” -
One can empathize with Lehner’s battles against mental illness, alcoholism, and pill addiction but that doesn’t exclude him from being a class one A hole of the highest order. Back in 2018 he had nothing but good things to say about the support he received from the Sabres during his diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. But then he did a 180 a couple years later and when he actually bad mouthed the fans, he lost all sympathy I had for him. Screw him.

Imo, Beane’s most telling admission that year was when he said, “AJ isn’t who we thought he was.” They were absolutely counting on him to carry the bulk of the load initially and by the time he realized McCarron was a mistake, it was too late. That QB room was a mess until Derek Anderson and Matt Barkley came in to help settle things. But as much as they may have rushed Allen too soon, I think it helped his development in the long run. And the time he spent on the sideline while injured that year was invaluable as well. He came back a better QB. I think Allen is really good at self-scouting.

You make some good points here regarding the veterans on that team. If Minshew is outperforming Lawrence at this time, nobody knows it better than the players in the locker room. There is no better way for a coach, especially a new one, to lose credibility with veteran players than to give a job to a player who has clearly been outperformed by another. That said, I have no idea if Minshew has shown better in camp than Lawrence. Meyer may also be trying to simply motivate Lawrence, who has never been second fiddle to anyone on the field before. Might be giving Minshew enough rope to hang himself, also. Either way, the vets in that team will know better than anyone.

Redefined the position. Perhaps the ultimate qualification for induction.

Training Camp Practice and Media Sessions 8/6

Also, the offense must have at least five players with numbers between 50-79 on the field on every play. Sure, one can report as an eligible receiver, but that’s a very specialized use of an offensive lineman. -

Love the idea, but I don’t think the refs would allow it. -
Per the bold and while I appreciate the idea, I suspect a division win and great overall record will be anything but comfortable.

Disgusting. Looks like they borrowed somebody’s catheter bag. -
Reminds me of the media reports back in 1990; the same reports of the ball never hitting the ground in practice. If this team can manage the weight of raised expectations, watch out.

It certainly looks that way. It’s too bad that Kane and Bogosian had more influence on the young core than Gionta and Jorges. Both have suggested that Eichel was beyond their reach in terms of influence. Sure, part of that is that Eichel is an arrogant A hole of the highest order, but part of it is the bad influence of Kane and Bogo. As a result, guys younger than Eichel had crap for leadership in the form of a crap captain in Eichel.

That assumes that the Bills and Jets rated the QBs in the same order as the Browns and would have selected selected the Browns’ top two rated QBs. I don’t think that’s a given. I think it’s more a fact that the Browns really liked their guy and guaranteed being able to get him, simple as that. Same with them selecting Ward at #4. -
So true. Take a look at his TD pass to Yeldon vs. the Titans last year. That kind of throw shouldn’t be humanly possible. Amazing. And he’s ours.

We can see the Bills field house while sitting on a boat on the lake west of Athol Springs.

Woulda been in 1996 most likely.

Perhaps from the top of the Seneca One tower in downtown Buffalo? I’m not sure. Toronto is some 350 feet lower than Buffalo in elevation, so maybe. I’ve seen Buffalo from atop the CN Tower in Toronto on a clear day, though.

Good points all around. The more I think about the long delays in getting the deal consummated, the more I’m convinced it’s because Reinhart and Co. didn’t agree to a sign and trade deal like Jones did with Columbus/Chicago.
-
Just to be clear, I like Adams and Granato, think that what they’re doing needs to be done, and I’m hopeful for the future. And you certainly don’t have to sell their credentials to me. I’m fully onboard. Besides, what choice to we have as fans? But being a mind reader isn’t the point as there is nothing Adams controls once the player is gone. There’s just no changing the fact that if Reinhart signs long term, especially with a division rival, then the return on the trade looks much worse.
