Not sure what the question is. Achieve what, exactly? I’m not suggesting Beasley needs to achieve anything. But you point out the impracticality of ensuring the safety of people co-mingling in close proximity. I think it’s that very impracticality that dictates the need for the safety protocols.

If we achieve herd immunity (70%-90% of the population according to the CDC), then I believe it won’t matter much, if at all. But we aren’t close to that, so the risk lies in having too many unvaccinated individuals spreading to each other until we do achieve that herd immunity threshold. Cole is right that if he is strictly around immunized individuals, then the risk of him contracting and spreading is low, and it shouldn’t matter much. But, given the current immunization rates, especially among his teammates in the building, the risk of spread among those non-immunized individuals remains and the safety protocols need to be adhered to.

Playing away suggests they are going to raze the old stadium and build the new one in the same place. Makes sense because the infrastructure is already in place for the most part and that will save a ton of money. Not sure what happened to the downtown location idea, but the feasibility study they performed along with other market research may have indicated that OP makes the most sense, especially from a cost standpoint.

While different in most respects, they are similar in terms of restrictive protocols being put in place and I’m simply wondering if Beasley had the same kind of stance at the time and if he made them public then as well. If so, that might offer insight into how the team responded at the time and how they might currently. I’m not trying to frame an anti-Beasley argument here. Just looking for precedence.

Regardless, he must be traded before his NMC kicks in next year, so there is a countdown in effect. But there’s no hurry at this particular juncture. Interested teams are gonna need to do their own due diligence on his neck issues before committing that kind of time and money to Eichel, so I don’t see a fast timeline, anyway. That said, and contrary to Whaley’s revisionist history, EJ had been rising up most draft boards over the several months leading up to that draft and was projected as a late first, early second by the time draft day arrived. Similar to Josh Freeman’s arc several years earlier. And while we took him a lot higher at pick 16, there is something to be said for targeting you guy and getting him, regardless. Plus, the league has put the onus of an illegal hit on the offending player; he needs to be aware of his actions and the potential consequences. Scheifele could have avoided the hit simply by either making a play on the puck (which is why the discipline committee didn't buy his explanation at all, btw) or by skating to avoid Evans. Hockey players turn on the dime while skating fast as a routine matter. Either way, Scheifele could have avoided the hit. The onus was never on Evans as you seem to keep insisting upon.

No, I don’t mean that at all. Covid was a broad subject whereas this is an NFL specific matter as it relates to the classification of plaintiffs seeking compensation based solely on their race. Covid does not discriminate based on race. In this case, the NFL clearly did. Except when it comes to paying damages to certain players, apparently.

I don’t think archaic thinking about the relationship between race and intelligence is strictly confined to old rich white guys. Adopting policies to avoid paying damages based on that thinking might be, though.

It’s a money situation based on race. That makes it impossible NOT to be a race situation. This topic directly relates to the NFL. Why is it NOT for the main board?

Doug Whaley is full of crap. That wasn’t Buddy Nix making all those trips down to Tallahassee to interview everyone and their mother about EJ’s character, work ethic, personality, etc., in the months leading up to that draft. That wasn’t Buddy Nix gushing about EJ’s “it” factor and the “presence people feel when he walks into a room.” Does Doug have anything to say about the hindsight mistake it was to make that deal for Watkins in 2014? Pretty sure that wasn’t Buddy, either.
