  1. I hadn’t heard the Sabres were telling him to play through it but I agree that could kill the relationship if they demanded that and he said no. Demanding he play goes against their advice to rehab the injury vs. getting surgery because the healing time is much longer. Something doesn’t make sense there. Who reported that the Sabres were demanding he play? If it was Paul Hamilton, I refuse to believe it. Anybody else and I’d give it some credence.
  2. The more I read about this kind of neck problem, the more I see that 99% of the medical community recommends the rehab approach vs. getting the surgery. The rehab takes longer and would preclude Eichel from doing various rigorous training regimens until the rehab is complete and that could jeopardize his availability at the start of next season. Eichel wants to get back to a rigorous workout schedule ASAP so he can be ready at the start of the season. I can understand the conflict. But it shouldn’t be a relationship killer, either.
  3. Eichel did a good job of driving down his trade value by calling into question his injury status and any long term effects it may or may not have. But the Sabres should still demand absolute top compensation and if no team is willing to pony up, then Eichel can waste away on long term IR for all I care at this point. I didn’t think it could get any darker than it did on black Sunday when we lost Drury and Briere, but here we are.
  4. See ya, Jack. And Samson, and Risto, and Jake. Hate to see Jack go since we simply can’t win any trade in the short term because we won’t be getting a player nearly as good. But it’s time. We will continue to set new league records for playoff droughts each of the next several years until this latest rebuild is done. Thank god we have a foundation like Skinner to build upon.
  5. This seems to happen to Baffert frequently. And he’s good friends with Belichick. Hmm.
  6. Agree entirely. You can take the top 10 rated prospects, put their names in a hat, pull one out and he would be just as deserving to go number one overall as the other nine. There’s just no clear cut player at the top. Regardless, it will be years before anyone we select will be in the lineup anyway.
  7. Joe Defect sighting.
  8. Yep, and then the first wife just cut ‘em off, said I wouldn’t be needing them anymore, and that was that.
  9. Vaccinating people, which prevents them from contracting the virus and spreading it to others, is the very definition of protecting others who aren’t vaccinated.
  10. The risks associated with a Covid infection is well known. After over 1.3 billion vaccine doses administered worldwide, any inherent risk of being vaccinated barely registers.
  11. 😄Years ago, when my former company banned smoking inside the building, it helped me quit because I just couldn’t reconcile “why am I standing here freezing my balls off.”
  12. Skinner really fell off a cliff. Scored 36 goals in his first 57 games with the Sabres and 24 goals in 135 games since (4 in his final 25 games in ‘18-‘19, 14 in 59 games in ‘19-‘20, and 6 in the 51 games so far this season). He’s done.
  13. If the Bills make it a policy that all personnel needs to be vaccinated, it’s their call. End of story. Good luck to any player or other personnel who would challenge that in court on charges of being “discriminated” against. Non-vaxers are not a protected class.
  14. Putting Allen on notice. ‘Bout time.
  15. Not surprised to read this. I’ve never known an OLman who didn’t love to dominate in the run game. There is nothing more demoralizing to a defense than getting its ass whipped play after play over the course of a drive, especially in the 4th quarter when it really starts to show. Somebody mentioned our frequent use of play action and that would be even more effective with a good running game. Makes it so much easier for OLinemen to sell their play action and run action fakes, especially with a QB as skilled as Allen is with his own fakes.
  16. Is there room for another assistant GM in addition to Karmanos?
  17. Oh, no doubt. My post was totally tongue in cheek.
  18. Wow, Barzal benched tonight. First missed game in something like four years. Amazing. The Isles, ruining careers one player at a time.
  19. The least he could do is temporarily waive his NMC in favor of is us being able to protect another player, but we will see. Regardless, we are stuck with that albatross of a contract.
  20. Starters? Perhaps not for a while. Contributors? Absolutely.
  21. Zero chance the Kraken take Skinner. Zero. As in the amount of hockey sense Skinner possesses.
  22. Well, in a total waste of a crappy year with little to celebrate, seeing Houser get the win in his first NHL game at the ripe age of 28 against a good team like the Isles was fantastic.
  23. Yes. And Kiper has said this many times in the past.
