Bills fans rank high in ranking teams. At least according to the latest rankings of rankers.

Looking at his highlights, he possesses real football speed, not just straight line track speed in shorts. -
With the exception of Dahlin, Joki, and Borgen, I would expose all veteran defensemen in the upcoming expansion. Not one of them is worth keeping long term. I'd also ask Skinner to be a team player and temporarily waive his no movement clause so we could protect a more promising young player.

I don’t understand why anyone would say Rousseau is a reach pick. Nearly every mock draft I’ve seen has him going before pick 30. If anything, we got good value; at least on paper. We really won’t know for sure for a couple years yet, anyway. But I have to laugh at some of these takes around here.- 997 replies

You can say that again. You can say that again. You can say that again. You can say that again. You can say that again. -
Good point. We tend to equate UFOs as “alien” in origin, but there’s a better chance they’re objects made right here on earth that we simply aren’t acquainted with.

Broncos acquire QB Teddy Bridgewater for 6th round pick

To be fair to ELway, Chubb was rated much higher than Allen as a player and the thought of him paired with Miller made a ton of sense at the time. But yeah, I’m sure Elway can’t be happy in retrospect. As are several teams that passed on Allen, I’m sure. -

I agree that corners play both much if the time and the great ones play both equally well, but not every CB who excels at man coverage also excels at zone, which requires a greater understanding of D concepts. From drop depths to drop angles, some corners just don’t get it as well as others. -
Browns were higher on Mayfield, Giants were higher on Barkley, Jets were higher on Darnold, Broncos were higher on Chubb, Colts had Luck. And those players were rated higher by most teams anyway. That’s not a knock on Allen. Any team picking after 7 had no chance, but the Bears and 49ers were set at QB anyway, and Arizona didn’t have the draft capital to move up higher than 10. But none of that changes the fact that Allen was considered a consensus top 10 pick in the draft by scouts and GMs after his junior year. And if the Bills hadn’t taken him, he wasn’t getting past the Cardinals at 10, anyway. A QB need not be rated a better player than another to justify his being selected higher in the draft. QBs are unique in that regard given the nature of the position, which is another reason why most in the league had Allen going in the top 10. But yeah, I don’t know what some scouts and GMs are thinking when it comes to picking some guys. We have the benefit of hindsight, I guess. They all look good at the time, though.

Signing Jones would be akin to when we signed Lofton, who made our offense nearly impossible to defend. I’d be all for it if the numbers could be worked out. But I can’t see it. -
I’d be interested in knowing what 10 teams didn’t think Allen was a consensus top 10 pick in the 2018 draft because the dozen or so scouts and others I’ve talked to were pretty adamant in their evaluations after Allen’s junior season in college that he would be a top 10 in the 2018 draft, which isn’t surprising because rare arm talent like that is never ignored. It’s like catnip. I doubt you’d find anyone in the Browns organization or anywhere else who thought Allen was a better prospect than Mayfield at the time of the 2018 draft and I suspect they’d have a hard time admitting it even now, but if they were honest, they’d have to concede Allen has been the better QB overall over his first three seasons.

Per the bold and just to clarify, when you say “professional evaluators” are you referring to actual pro scouts, GMs, etc., or are you referring to the talking head pundits and draftniks who make predictions in a vacuum? Because Allen was projected to be a consensus top 10 pick in the 2018 draft after his his junior year at Wyoming. His success is not a surprise to NFL talent evaluators in the least.
