Pegula and Beane believes the roster wasn't the problem - Link
The Jokeman replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with this 100% -
I admit I like Kubiak yet the issue I have with the Shanny system is it has roots on the WCO which is a timing based offense which doesn't always support Josh's strengths as we've seen it countless times where Josh has an open guy but instead of taking the easy through he'll run around a bit and wait for another player to come open, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I don't think anyone will completely coach it out of him as it's just how he is.

I think part of the reason we've failed on Dlineman is we've focused mostly on size vs speed at DE and at DT we have yet to find a true 1 tech/NT type that we need. Is this on McDermott or Beane? Looking back maybe it was Sean telling Brandon what type he wanted. Yet it wasn't good enough. I also think we settled on Taron Johnson as our nickelback when we truly need a big nickel to let this defense work as it did in Carolina. Toss in injuries and this team just didn't have enough several times in the post season. Yes, the defense should take some blame but so should ST (see Bass missing the tying FG three seasons ago and not squib kicking the ball) and the offense has had chances to win and not done so either. It's a team thing so hard to pinpoint who to blame. I was a McDermott fan but can understand why we've moved on. Now we have to see if can improve under a new HC, if so then sure easy to say we made the right decision but as the adage says, only time will tell.

Different take on Beane vs McDermott situation
The Jokeman replied to streetkings01's topic in The Stadium Wall
They drafted the best available receiving option when we took Kincaid. He's struggled with injuries but when he is on the field he is a difference maker. I wouldn't call it a failure. -
Joe Gibbs is often regarded as a great leader of players. McDermott and him feel very similar.

I called it after they hired a fellow Green Bay alum as GM. Vying for smallest QB room in the NFL?

For the money that went into the D alot ended up on the shelf. We were down to our 4th free safety, lost two of our five LBs, Dane Jackson was like 5th CB. Our X factor Hoecht played 2 games. Oliver played but he wasn't close to be game ready. And that was just the 2025 team.

Bills Announce 2026 Reserve/Future Signings
The Jokeman replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
After all the injuries it's up there but Steelers WR room is worse. -
The Larry O false start failed fumble recovery hurts as did the fumble that bounced back into Nix's hands. Hardmans drop before Cooks" interception" Missed opportunities abound.

Bills Announce 2026 Reserve/Future Signings
The Jokeman replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hardman sat unsigned for how long? It makes sense for a futures deal so at least get to a training camp. Toss in he can see how weak WR is now moreso with three guys been in IR to end season. -
Brandon Beane PROMOTED to GM/President of Football OPs
The Jokeman replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hard to say. Depends on what GM thinks possible with vs without Sean. -
Brandon Beane PROMOTED to GM/President of Football OPs

With Beane now President I can only see us hiring within when comes to GM or if Schoen became available. -
Want: Kubiak Think: Mike Lafleur Don't want: Daboll or McCarthy I like Klint Kubiak but for some reason I see us grabbing from the Rams Mike LaFleur as HC and maybe make Nate Scheelhaase OC and think it be sweet if named Zak Kromer Oline coach. Not sure who he grab as DC just yet. Raheem Morris would be a strong add and has been in staffs with LaFleur so it's possible.

.13 seconds, Wide Right, No Goal, HRTB, what are we naming it?
The Jokeman replied to BMWR100RT's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yup. -
ATL already hired Stefanski, I think ARZ be his best choice because they have some good pieces in place.

McDermott changed this team from a mid level going nowhere to a preverbal playoff contender. He leaves us in a better place than where he started is about as good as we can ask except never getting that championship we wanted. I can only give him the most sincere clap I can to honor him. As to me he was the best coach this franchise has ever had. Sure Levy got us further but he didn't have the constraints of a salary cap and better players to play with. Lou Saban got us AFL Championships sure but smaller league and think much easier to win then vs now.

Brandon Beane PROMOTED to GM/President of Football OPs
The Jokeman replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
We all saw Terry keep Whaley when we fired Rex. Once we had Sean in place and offseason finished moved on from Whaley. It could happen again. -
That's not a bad combo so long Klint also brings in an OC.

The Jokeman replied to BMWR100RT's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've decided to call it the "Inter deception" -
As good as our offense has been it's also had it share of misses. Granted the playoff defense hasn't always been great in part due to injuries. As to me yesterday's game is different if have a healthy Oliver, Poyer and Hoecht on the field.
