That’s an interesting and fair take. I respect that he cares about the Bills and tries hard; he’s just not good. I’ll admit it doesn’t really impact me at all because I never listen to the local broadcast. Full disclosure, I cringe when I hear most local broadcasters. I prefer a neutral play-by-play that still conveys excitement.

Peyton was also clutch with his approach on 18. The production was a little awkward at times (and I was on a family Zoom call from 6-8 so was only watching with no audio) but it was still fun. Laughed my ass off at Brady (who is supposedly an eight) playing like a 20 but his hole out was impressive, as well as the eagle putt on the back 9. You can tell Phil absolutely loves to gamble and talk schitt. Nice to also see Justin Thomas’ personality come out as an on-course analyst, and Barkley always cracks me up.

I don't even know what this means. Anyway -- I think most coaches would tell you if their starting QB goes down, the best they are hoping for is that the backup can go .500 while he's in -- and that's if we're talking about a good team. My opinion is that if you are going to bring in a "legitimate" backup QB who is capable of starting in this league, it better be a situation in which your incumbent starter is either a very established veteran or a top 5 draft pick, because the likelihood said backup is going to be a great "mentor" or sounding board for your starter is pretty slim.

Dennison was fired after one season (and he wasn't McD's first choice to begin with ). Daboll got raw Josh Allen and Nathan Peterman to work with, along with no WRs, in his first season. Did you notice any improvement last year? I really don't understand what is going on in some of your minds.

I love it when guys use a one-off occurrence as “proof” of a proposition.
-
If you’re relying on your QB2 for any significant period of time you’re screwed, period. Another poster wrote it in this thread, but having a QB2 who is a great preparation guy and who supports/is a sounding board for your QB1 is more important than pure “talent” at the position. It’s why the Bills like Barkley, and also why Fromm has a chance to stick. Flacco has always been “the guy” and is not known for his mentoring skills. But you keep on with your “McD doesn’t know offense” mantra, dude.

Wow, SOMEBODY couldn’t wait to get in here and trash our OC! The mediocre offense couldn’t POSSIBLY be a by-product of developing a raw QB for two seasons, could it? Nah...Daboll sucks and McD doesn’t know offense! You’re consistent, I’ll give you that.

And that, my friend, is the point. Currently the onside kick has a negligible impact on the game and is a waste of time. The NFL wants to institute a play that actually means something.
-
Well, sure, anyone can pick a game in the past that was impacted by a successful onside kick. That doesn’t mean it is statistically significant over the course of NFL history. You guys are acting like a team converting this 4th and 15 equates to “instant points” and that is simply not the case.
-
I think this is probably a great example of confirmation bias. While you think this is “an important part of the game that has always been” I’m willing to bet that in reality, the data would show it has a negligible impact on the game and is typically just a waste of time. At least this play would create “actual” excitement and keep the end of games in doubt.

Murphy Out at One Bills Live - Brown and Glab to Replace
eball replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Murph has never endeared himself to me as the Bills play-by-play guy. Never. As the Bills enter a new era of greatness they should look to upgrade their broadcaster as well. -
NFL.com: "Which coach has the best chance to win 1st SB?"

Whenever I see this man's name the instant memory that pops into my head is him discussing his HOF teammate Emmitt Schmiff. -
Pete Prisco's top 100 players of the NFL. (CBS Sports)

I'd suggest the Bills have "top end talent" at CB, S, LB, DL, WR, RB, and (hopefully) QB. The only areas without names who jump off the page are OL/TE -- and some might even consider Morse and Dawkins "top end." This argument that the Bills are just a collection of good hard working players without any flash is a falsity. They've been developing a raw young QB and building the team around him -- the 2020 Bills are as talented as just about anyone, from top to bottom. -
Can Stefon Diggs Emerge as a Superstar in Buffalo?

It's comforting to me that you find reasons to worry about even the good things that happen to the Bills. You should stay inside today. It might rain pianos. -
Buffalo Bills Embedded 2020 premiers 5/20
eball replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That clip was money. They wanted Davis to fall so they could grab him. "Just run a 4.58." Love that these guys don't get enamored with 40 times and are looking for football players. And how many times did McD say "someone who will catch the ball" when talking about WRs? The dude gets it, unlike some around here believe. He knows why the passing game suffered last year, and it wasn't because of Josh's iNacCuRacY. -

Fraudulent site, trying to play off the legitimate CBS Sportsline feed...check out the handle...they are using an 'l' instead of an 'i'... Shut this down. -
NFL Approves Rule Changes for Hirings
eball replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know why this is so difficult. By getting more exposure, yes, more minorities will have opportunities to show they are best suited for the job. It's still up to them to prove they deserve being hired. -
The Athletic: Vic's Over/Under (Bills over 8.5)
eball replied to inthebuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously. If we were defending Josh Allen for a similar throw we'd be laughed off the board. That said, the Ravens, Chiefs, and Bills are going to be battling for AFC supremacy for the foreseeable future. Some other teams will pop up here and there but these are going to be the most consistent three of the 2020s. -
It's gonna be the biggest year of his life (to date).

Judging from your post history, I don't doubt that for a second. p.s. sometimes the crowd is right

NFL Approves Rule Changes for Hirings
eball replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The rule improves minorities’ exposure, it doesn’t improve their chances. In theory the best man/woman gets the job — the NFL is simply saying you need to interview a broader range of candidates when making your choice. -
Meh. No sense of humor as usual.
