Marquise Goodwin signed by the Bears
eball replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bears are a bottom five organization at this point. Sorry Marquise. -
So I see the Browns are @ScottLaw‘s new Jets. After all, he nailed that one. Cleveland has a nice roster. They’re limited by their QB. Need to prove they can get over the Baltimore hump before I’ll put them in the top 3 in the AFC. Clowney is terribly overrated, but he’s better than JAG so I guess it’s an upgrade for them. He’s a player who is so clearly just in it for “me” though...not what I’m looking for when building a culture. Nobody in the AFC has Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen. The next best QB might be Herbert. Jackson, Watson, Tannehill, Derek Carr (!) were all better than Baker last year. And now the AFC will add Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson. The Browns are certainly no pushover and should be a playoff team again, but I’ll pump the brakes on calling them great just yet.

Damn, that's right. My bad.

I read it. Edelman's postseason stats are good, but even in the postseason he only scored 3 TDs after his rookie year. He's remembered for that stupid catch against Atlanta. There's also the extremely legitimate argument that Brady made him what he was. And how about that massive drop vs. the Giants in their 2nd SB matchup? (edit: oops) He fashioned a very nice career for himself and was fortunate to play with the GOAT at QB and had the GOAT as his HC. He's an afterthought in the story of the NFL. Is there a HOF for banging models? Maybe he qualifies for that...
-
He's not a HOFer. Not even close. You want to call me pigheaded? Be my guest.
-
Cracks me up that anyone would be saying Edelman and HOF in the same sentence, unless that sentence includes the phrase “no f***ing way.”

1969 Buffalo Bills -the long road back
eball replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Long road back indeed...they still sucked until '73. -
What is your preferred opening game for the Bills this year?
eball replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills at Tampa to open the season on TNF makes a lot of sense. SB champs vs. one of the AFC favorites, plus the Brady vs. Buffalo angle. If not that, then a home opener vs. a division opponent. -
Four sounds about right, but I could see five given the 17-game schedule. There are three PT games per week, plus the Saturday games at the end of the year — so let’s call it 55 PT games overall (110 teams). That’s a lot of opportunity for the good/popular teams, and as has been noted, the Bills are drawing national interest because of Allen and their offense.

Good stuff. Curious as to your comment about the Bills not paying Taron Johnson. This kid made two of the biggest plays of the season last year and only seems to be getting better. He looks like a great fit in McD’s defense. Your thinking is he will be too expensive?
-
Add me to the list of "good for Sam" posters. If anybody needed a change of scenery it was Darnold. I've commented previously that I'm not sure Darnold has the drive to excel, but he can still be a very good QB in the right situation. I'll be rooting for him and the Panthers as my "NFC team."

Jets' draft ammo is crazy right now
eball replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know what’s awesome? Not needing that draft capital. -
Who is the one player you DON’T want the Bills to draft @30
eball replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The one who sucks. -
Oh, ok, I was going by the gridiron uniform database and it looked like the helmets had white facemasks during those years.
-
Great to get Lindor signed; good young core w/ Alonso and Conforto. McCann was an underrated pickup. Pitching will be good; they should at least compete for the WC. It’s a shame Covid has interrupted the start of their season but I’m looking forward to watching them.
-
So, it looks like when the Bills went back to white helmets in 2011 the facemasks were gray. Then from 2012 through 2016 they were white, and from 2017 to now they've been gray (with one white game thrown in during the season in 2019 and 2020). Personally, I like the white but the gray didn't bother me.

Do the Bills have "their guy" picked out?
eball replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is only one position I’m confident the Bills won’t target with the 30th pick in the draft — QB. Anything else (besides ST specialists) is fair game based upon who the BPA is at that point. -
Isaiah McKenzie is VERY busy! He'll call you back!

Tre White is one of my favorite humans. Couldn’t be happier this is the team I root for. -
Any thoughts on WR Dyami Brown, UNC?

Says someone who clearly hasn't watched said 34 year old WR play. -
Which QB do you want the Jets to draft?
eball replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t care about the Jets but with respect to QB evaluations, great physical traits aren’t enough. A great work ethic isn’t enough. We’ve seen time and time again that the best QBs in the league are the ones who mentally process the game the best. That, to me, is the most difficult thing to predict and evaluate because so often in college these guys are throwing to wide open receivers and are playing in limited, dumbed-down systems. And when you find a guy who can mentally process the game quickly AND has great physical ability/work ethic, you’ve got a goddamn superstar. Meet Patrick Mahomes. And Josh Allen. Eff the Jets. The Bills are owning this division until Josh is done. -
More fully clothed at least?
