Peter King FMIA article feature Bills camp
eball replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's take a look at Josh in the playoffs. I'm ignoring the Houston game because Josh was still playing a lot of hero ball at that point. Against Indy he was the best player on the field; he's the only reason the Bills won. Against Baltimore he outplayed Jackson in a wind storm, didn't turn the ball over, and led the game-winning TD drive at the start of the 2nd half. Against KC he basically moved the Bills up and down the field but given the dinged-up receiver situation they simply didn't finish drives with TDs, and he had that very untimely INT off John Brown's hands. To sum up, I don't think Josh "failed us" in last season's playoffs and he didn't "lay an egg" against KC. There were a lot of factors at play against Buffalo in that game. Before I start saying -- or listening to someone say -- Josh "can't win the big games" I need a larger sample size, because what I've seen so far doesn't suggest that at all. -

Had no idea your family went through that. Sincerely glad she is recovering even if not fully recovered. -
Ahh, did not know that! Thx.

Around the League Preseason Games Thread
eball replied to LeGOATski's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I’m glad you see the light. Lots of teams make the playoffs; not all have great QBs. The teams who win the SB typically get great QB play during the playoffs. In Peyton’s case, the Broncos had a tremendous defense but there is no doubt Peyton’s leadership as a HOF QB meant something. I haven’t scoured this thread but I’m guessing you’re a Browns fan since an earlier post mentioned Baker. I guess you’re saying he doesn’t need to be great for the Browns to win, and I’d agree with that proposition during the regular season because the Browns have a very good roster. In the playoffs, however, your QB needs to be better than average. -
I’m confused about one thing — FMLA has nothing to do with pay. It’s a protection in place to keep your job when you’re out for a medical/health reason. If you’re getting paid during your paternity leave that’s either a specific company policy, your PTO, or a supplemental insurance plan. Anyway, ignore the Neanderthals telling you taking paternity leave will make female management downgrade you. My rules about employment decisions: be up front, be ethical, think long term, and don’t apologize for doing what’s best for you.

Last week one of the most frequent phrases I read in camp reports was “[insert name here] blew by Benenoch.”

I completely understand that. Doesn’t make it less “meh” for me to read as a Bills fan. And the Green Bay stuff was a lot of direct quotes from Rodgers in an interview he gave King that the local GB writers don’t have. -

Eli Manning is a borderline HOF QB with two SB wins in which he played great. Peyton is a HOF QB. Flacco played that postseason out of his mind. Only the Philly win falls outside of the “great QBs win SBs” argument — and Brady still almost won it. QB is everything in the NFL. There are only a handful of stories of great teams with average QB play who won championships. -

This “camp report” said absolutely nothing those of us who follow the Bills didn’t already know. The stuff from Rodgers was the most interesting part of the column. -
It's Time to Mandate Vaccines
eball replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Wrong. The vaccinated, even if infected, carry a much lower viral load and therefore reduce the spread. There is no question Delta and other soon to be discovered variants are the result of spread among the unvaccinated. This is science, and it infuriates me. You non-vaxxers or anti-vaxxers are idiots and I absolutely wish every business in the country implemented a vaccine requirement. Oh, and I also don’t mind wearing a mask. They work too. I’m outta here. -

Good lord you people like to speculate and make presumptions about stuff you know nothing about. Oh wait, that happens all the time around here. Never mind. -

Jesus I finally visit this forum to see what’s up and realize it’s infiltrated with morons. The virus is MUTATING because people aren’t vaccinated and stopping the spread. All of the “it only affects 1%” people don’t get it. Get the frigging shot. It’s safe and free. Do it for EVERYONE, not for yourself. So stupid. -

I looked at the first couple of pages of this thread and all I can say is that @dpberr seems to have a vomiting problem. Not sure what that’s all about. -
Overreaction Saturday…whatcha got after BUF/DET?

Now THIS is a great addition to the thread. Bobby Hart sucked Friday night and we all saw it, but by adding “worst sports player ever” you took it into overreaction mode. Well done. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
eball replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The great news is that we’re having this conversation about a guy trying to latch on as a #3 QB, not debating whether he should be starting (a la Peterman in 2017). -
Justin Fields hasn’t had the most inspiring start to his career.

I don’t want anyone to misinterpret my comments to mean I want Fromm playing regular season minutes for the Bills or that I think he could be a legit #2 to Josh at this point. I would like to see him get a chance with something other than 3rd and 4th stringers, though. -

This is a question I hope we never have to see answered…as least not with Fromm in a Buffalo Bills uniform. -
Please tell me you typed this through dictation or something and didn’t proofread. THEIR. THEIR. THEIR.

You (and many of us) knew Peterman was a mirage. That one wasn’t really very hard to call. Fromm is a different guy. He didn’t play at Pittsburgh, he played at Georgia, at a high level, and no, he doesn’t have a rifle arm but I saw some zip last night. The one he sort of sidearmed over the middle was a dart, just a good breakup by the defender because our 8th string WR couldn’t get separation. And as noted above, the pass to Stevenson was a big boy throw. Fitzy would have had to throw his whole body into that one. I think it’s very possible Fromm is better than Webb. As I noted this morning, Webb didn’t really impress me at all. He completed some very easy misdirection play throws to wide open receivers. -
I was going to come in here to say Tua looked pretty good and then he threw that brutal interception. Oy. Gesicki is a beast, though. Probably their best offensive player.

I think now you’re exaggerating to prove a point. I rewatched that throw. It was not a “chuck” at all; it was an impressive throw (without a big wind up or stride) that went 45 yards in the air right into Stevenson’s hands. I don’t think Fromm is Peterman Part II. He may not ever be a starter in the league but I didn’t see what you saw, and while I absolutely respect and enjoy your contributions to this board, your QB evaluations have not been infallible. -
Lots of threads and comments about who looked good/bad so I won’t rehash that. What are some of your boldest takes after one preseason game? Mine: Hodgins is in trouble; one catch but then hurt again, and Stevenson made big-time plays in crunch time. Cody Ford is back and will be one of our best O-lineman. With Davis Webb looking competent Mitch Trubisky could be traded.
