  1. We don't have to re-live that game...our defense had no answers and it was one of McD's poorer coaching efforts. That said, the keys to the game were the Bills' drives at the end of the 2nd quarter and beginning of the 3rd...I look at that drive sheet and think, "wow, neither defense was really stopping anyone." Anyway, on to a new year.
  2. We have different definitions of "destroyed." In the AFCCG Buffalo had no healthy WRs yet Josh got us into the red zone repeatedly. Just couldn't punch it in. Defensively we had no answers for Hill and Kelce, I agree, but it was not "destruction" in my opinion, and I think things could certainly change this year.
  3. Re: not being a one year wonder, I have so much confidence that this organization will not “waste” having Josh Allen or take it for granted; Beane and McD will continue trying to improve the roster. One could argue that the Packers have wasted Aaron Rodgers for much of his career. Miami wasted Marino, and until Shanahan arrived Denver wasted Elway. I am extremely interested to see how KC looks this year. I’m not predicting a collapse or anything but that OL is a work in progress and I see potential holes on D.
  4. This should end well.
  5. First of all, I’m not one of the fans you mention - I think you know that. But the Bills are not a one-year wonder. They’ve been built, systematically, with a plan, and right now is when they are coming into their heyday. Are there other good teams? Of course, but the Bills are likely to be favored in anywhere from 13 to 15 of their 17 games this season. They are in the same “tier” as KC, they just need to get over the hump. The Titans improved their team acquiring Julio but they have more flaws than Buffalo. Cleveland has a talented roster but some question marks on D and a QB who is beneath the level of the best in the game. Plus, Buffalo got better this offseason. It’s actually OK to acknowledge the Bills are a top-5 NFL team right now - a legitimate Super Bowl contender - and not apologize for it. That doesn’t mean you’re “dissing” anyone else in the league or predicting blowout wins each week.
  6. “People” - no, certain Bills fans on a message board. Go figure. You’re so hell bent on tempering excitement you can’t help yourself. The Chiefs aren’t in “another tier” - they’re the back-to-back defending AFC champs but tell me, how many teams have done it three times in a row? Look at Gunner’s breakdown of their off-season. If that was the Bills you’d be predicting a 9-8 season. We all know the Browns are your new Jets (you were so right on that one) and we all know you’re still sore the Bills didn’t roll with Whaley’s roster when McD took over. You’ve been proven wrong so many times over the past four seasons I’ve lost count. Youre the guy standing in the corner waiting for a mistake to say “I told you so” and I know you’ve got a list and you’re ready to pounce - Lotulelei, Edmunds, you name it. Weird way to live your life and follow a team. If only the Bills had tendered Mike Gillislee…where we could be…
  7. Really great story. Good for him.
  8. The Bills didn’t “fail” to sign Watt. That’s the point. The statement makes it seem as though Buffalo tried and failed — which is not what happened. Minor point, but sloppy writing.
  9. “Any time a player of JJ Watt’s caliber becomes available, you’d be foolish not to consider whether or not he could help your football team.” This is not a direct quote from Beane but is probably damn close. He answered questions about Watt with typical GM-speak.
  10. Sloppy writing. Who said they even tried? All of the Watt-to-Buffalo talk was fan and media driven. Anyway, I’m excited to see AJ in action and I love listening to Dawkins. “He’s not a feather anymore…” — that’s gold.
  11. He had no concept of team-building, either. Just looked to acquire talent. He basically did one thing well when the job requires so much more. I think Whaley is a great example of the Peter Principle.
  12. For the record, I praised the Diggs acquisition immediately. I'll be fine with it if they make the move, but I don't think it's necessary.
  13. There's a pretty significant difference between "should not" and "shall not" -- words matter. This sounds like best practices/guidelines but not a strict ban.
  14. I think I'm the only Bills fan who hopes they DON'T trade for/sign Ertz. I think Knox is going to make a strong 3rd year jump, and I'm confident in Hollister plus whoever survives out of Gilliam/Sweeney/Becker/Morris to fill out the squad.
  15. I wonder just how much Barkley still wants to play football. I think he loved Buffalo for the culture and because he developed a great relationship with Josh. He knows he's not starting anywhere...does he really want to go learn a new system and fight for a backup job? I have my doubts.
  16. So with Rousseau signing the Bills are now roughly 9M under the cap with only Spencer Brown left to sign. His cap hit isn’t likely to be more than 1M (3rd rounder, Rousseau’s hit is ~2M) so they’ve got 8M+ to play with. Come on Beane, show us something!
  17. Full disclosure -- I did not. I hate all of these interviews and rarely watch them. My post was a defense of somebody calling Wawrow a "hack." Agree to disagree.
  18. I like everything mentioned so far (Rams, Arizona, Colts) but the drive right after halftime to score a TD and take the lead over the Ravens may have been the most important drive of the season.
  19. Zay has somehow managed to craft himself a pretty lengthy career by NFL standards at this point. I still can’t figure out what happened to him; he caught everything at ECU but then lost his confidence or something. And then there was that wild Vegas incident. Oh well, if we’re going to start threads about Bills’ draft picks who didn’t work out this is as good as any.
  20. That’s an interesting analysis and I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I think what rankles many fans is that Edmunds was a 1st round draft pick the Bills traded up to get, and you kinda expect those guys to be impact playmakers, not “dirty/selfless” role players.
  21. Well, not everyone...but I get your point. This was another low risk, high upside signing by Beane — a player who appears to be on the upswing of his career and has a chance to make the Bills better or deeper.
  22. Horrible take. You don’t know jack-schitt about JW, and he’s anything but a “hack.” If you’re not still concerned about getting our country and the world to herd immunity by getting everyone vaccinated, and you’re ignoring science, you’ve got your head in the sand. These dumb takes are akin to the “players shouldn’t talk politics, only football” neanderthal mindset. Football is a GAME. There are much more important issues in life. Edit: I completely "get it" that the Bills have decided not to address vaccine/Covid issues with the media. That's fine. I just won't bash a reporter for still trying to get an answer.
  23. Anyone else get the feeling that if the Bills had to line up and play a game in two weeks they'd be ready to roll? I can't believe it is still around 100 days until W1. This is a well-oiled machine.
  24. The old man was slipping. Apparently another pasty-faced Dookie will be replacing him...Jon Scheyer.
