Cap Room Analysis requested
White Linen replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So let me make sure I have this right. You don't have time to put together a plan to spend next years free agency money - showing this years free agents and their contracts - but you want someone else to do it? -
No Free Agent Wide Receivers?
White Linen replied to jtothebrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Josh Gordon was sought after by more teams than any of the remaining WR free agents. Yet they hold all the cards and won't come to Buffalo? -
No Free Agent Wide Receivers?
White Linen replied to jtothebrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There isn't one free agent WR that would turn us down just because they simply refuse to come here. None of them have the clout to wait for a contender, none. -
How often do "project" quarterbacks work out?
White Linen replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They work out often enough to keep getting drafted. -
Buffalo receivers are never good until they leave....?
White Linen replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Robert Woods went from 65 catches and 699 yds in 2014 (high as a Bill) to 56 catches and 781 yds last year. Wow he really blew it up after leaving. Oh and the same amount of TD's. -
Is Allen's Ceiling Cam Newton Lite?
White Linen replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's in year 15. His several years they were a running team with Ben being serviceable. He's also almost always been around some incredible wide receivers and tight ends. -
If you think the Sabres are ready to compete then we're done talking. Sheary and Skinner at most cancel out Kane and O'Reilly in terms of production even if you believe (I do) they are better "fits". They will be after they spend their free agency money. You'll know much more what they are in 1-2 years and the existing young players will be ready to excel with NHL experience under their belt. Worrying about what they are now is futile - same goes with the Bills.
-
You can remain as pessimistic as you'd like but the fact remains they're both in very similar situations. The Sabres have a ton of cap space coming the next two years - just like the Bills - and they also have 3 first round picks. Neither team is complete so they are at the start of the rebuild. The Sabres went through one but it was brief and the opportunity to do another one so soon is freakishly lucky - especially when they've already acquired a solid foundation of outstanding young talent. What's happening is not dependent on you believing it or having faith.

Sal Carpaccio’s Plan To Fix Offense in 2019
White Linen replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what happens when you have Tyrod Taylor as your QB. You have no idea that you have an excellent WR in Woods on your team because TT buried his talent. At the time 8+ million seemed high because you can't be sure what he is - because of the QB. Robert does miss a good bit of time though. Watkins - no - he's not the kind of guy you pay huge dollars to. Hence he's not been signed to a long term deal. Try not to live in the past though, seriously. It does absolutely no good. We have to build weapons around Allen and we're going to need some good fortune and Antonio Brown type in the 6th would be nice, haha. They got so damn lucky. -
Where da puck went?

Sal Carpaccio’s Plan To Fix Offense in 2019

Most years you don't see a couple good guys but you said decent and there's almost always that. Tate isn't just some guy - he's excellent and would be perfect for our situation. I've long said this is the most difficult position beyond QB to fix in free agency or the draft for that matter. -

It's always that way. Good proven WR's do not become available often. -

Re-signed with Oakland. Yes, unfortunately he would be. -

I would target Golden Tate first and I'd over pay. I think 3 years 36 mil with 20 guaranteed. Then I'd try and get Jordy Nelson and John Brown. I'd also take a flyer on Martavis Bryant if I got enough veteran leadership like Jordy and Tate. I might even take a peek at Enunwa but he may cost a little more than I'd like to pay for not proving it long enough. I want veteran wide receivers that know how to get open. Allen needs to see a pro run routes so he can learn what to look for. I'm drafting one early too for sure and I'd consider a first rounder - even if I signed all of the above players. He needs his young WR to grow with. -

Timing on Josh's dropbacks
White Linen replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This theory would be much more on Daboll's play calling than Josh's ability/willingness to do it. The play call is the reason Brees and Rodgers make this throw. -
I agree he's missed on the line.
