  1. If Fitz could get better with downfield accuracy, I'd say yes. But I think this is as good as it will get. Either way, we're drafting a QB early next year, per Nix. Keep in mind he's pimping this game, too.
  2. Like I said, he's a capable stopgap who can win games with a decent D. He will be a steller backup and mentor (hopefully for the Bills) when we draft a QB. Like the OP, I also love this QB. But clutch is hardly a descriptor of him. Roethlisberger is clutch. Even if he's playing a bad game, he will, 80 percent of the time, make the big play in the end to seal the deal. Fitz, even when he's playing good, will, 80 percent of the time, make a mistake to lose the game.
  3. If our defense played at just a mediocre level this year, we would be 5-4, in second place, and in the thick of the playoff run. Fitz is a capable stopgap. He's a leader, but he can't be expected to put up 30-plus points a game.
  4. We got the ball back at 2:04 or something like that. All I'm saying is that I was hoping at the time that we'd give it to CJ. We never did. And I'm not one to scream run the damn ball. I do think we should have tried once or twice with him, or most dynamic player.
  5. I'm not one to second guess individual play calls. It annoys me to no end when fans do it--hey he should've done x, or y. But I remember asking myself why we weren't putting the ball in Spiller's hands on that last drive, package be damned. What I don't understand, though, is how rushing three (which the Pats were) isn't good for running the ball.
  6. I also like the text messages. What's wrong with this dude? We live in a litigious culture. Yeah, if Wanny is on the defense team, they'll be paying for damages for the guy's entire life.
  7. Wanny was the LB coach last year. LB is our weakest unit by far. Go figure.
  8. Really? If they made it a long time ago, you'd think the roles would be reversed. Buffalo was supposed to be the good team. Don't usually let the media's ignoring or bashing of this team--it deserves it--bother me, but that tagline really got my goat for some reason.
  9. I think the futility of this season sunk in when I saw that Thursday Night Football's theme was that the Bills play spoilers to the lowly Phins...at midseason. While our playoff chances became highly unlikely after Sunday's lost to the Pats*, a loss Thursday will make it impossible. More so in a long time, I hope we throttle the Dolphins in epic proportions Thursday.
  10. It's the same mindset. Obviously it's not physical violence. If you're really that literal, don't know what to say. Let me rephrase it for you. We're duped week in week out by a team that rarely gives back. Better? We all deserve a break. (Took out the more offensive out of the two words, but the analogy still applies). Wish I could take a week off...but we have Thursday night, where we play "spoilers" to the Dolphins midseason.
  11. We Bills fans, like no other NFL fanbase for the past 10 years, are like the victims of domestic abuse who still go back to their loser spouses insult after insult, beating after beating, because we just know they could turn the corner for the good any week now. It's a sickness, we know it's a sickness, we know far more often than not they're going to rip our hearts out in sickly fashion, we don't see any bright light in the near future, and we still can't stop.
  12. Get the ball in Spiller's hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Just when they got a break...
  14. For any team with an innovative offensive coordinator capable of drafting up smart out-of-the-box plays, which we have, and a smart fan base, which no one has, I am game for this strategy. However, all it takes is one loss by three, when we went for it instead of kicking a FG, or gave it to an opponent in FG range, and the fans will howl--regardless of the two games we won directly because of the strategy. Stupid comparison, I know, but my flag football team had a strategy of going for almost every time. Despite having less physical talent than most teams, we made a conversion more often than not, and won more games with the strategy than if we hadn't had it, IMO. After a few times, the dread of not stopping the conversion 60 percent of the time outweighs the elation of getting the ball on downs 40 percent. Again, I know the NFL most definitely ain't flag football, but the strategy and psychology are the same. For what it's worth, I'd be happy going for it on fourth much more often. This team needs a spark. Badly.
  15. That's not a moral victory, and I didn't imply that. But we lost because we were good for 2 and sucked for 2. If we don't suck for 2, we have a shot, that's all I'm saying.
  16. The mindless negativity here is...mindless. I'm as turned off as the next fan at the disappointment of this season--I had hopes of an 11-5 or 10-6 year and am blown away at the ineffectiveness of this D and the regression of Fitz--but c'mon y'all! Seriously. if you don't think the Bills have even a slight chance to beat the Pats, and if you think this team is worse than the Jags, which I've seen mentioned here, leave...and come back next April...cause you're making TBD unenjoyable with the nonstop nonsensical negativity. We were up 2 TDs last time at the half (before we disintegrated), 3 TDs the time before that at the half (before we blew it), and down 11 points the time before that (when we beat them in glorious fashion). If the Bills play four quarters of solid football, it's reasonable to think the team has a legit shot at winning. It's unreasonable to think the latter.
  17. That's kind of silly--you're taking the gloom and doom too far. Jacksonville, by far, is the worse team in the league. They are beyond terrible. We're a, once again, 6-10 or maybe 7-9 team.
  18. Thankfully, 99.99 percent of fans would prefer a bunch of sacks.
  19. I think he's an above-average coordinator who called a terrible game against Houston and has a QB who can't throw it deep. Given Fitz' inabilities and the RBs' amazing abilities, we need to run more. But we are not a smashmouth football team. We also got to be able to adjust. If they play the underneath game, we have to run more and take some chances deep. If they play us deep, we run and throw short. If they crowd the box, then we spread em out. Chan's weakness so far is in-game adjustments. Chan doesn't run this team, he coaches it. I'm not sure he has the authority to select, or fire. I had to Google our offensive coordinator's name. No one ever mentions him. Couldn't ID him if he were in my house. If Chan is calling the plays, what is Modkins' role?
  20. And, hence, our dilemma with Jauron vs. Gailey. Jauron is a punch to the balls. Gailey is a jab to the face. Would rather have Gailey. We Bills fans are sad creatures. Been getting punched for 12 years. When will this team be relevant again?
  21. Face any day of the week. Would rather take two punches to the face. Who in their right mind would rather get punched in the nuts? Gailey is better btw.
  22. Like half of TBD posters, I woke up depressed from the results last night. This thread is even more depressing. Are we really debating who's better--a perennial 7-9 gutless wonder who leaves us feeling hopeless we'll ever rise out of medioctrity...or a 6-10 coach who at least leaves us hopeful we'll be relevant. A year ago, we were all bellowing the brilliance of Gailey's offensive schemes which got amazing production out of mid-round talent. Now, he's a retread because he couldn't find a way to beat the best D in the league last week. During the dark Jauron years, I thought we'd never be relevant. At least with Gailey, I feel this team can turn the page any week. F*$%, that's depressing!
  23. Ha ha, your religion sucks.
