For any team with an innovative offensive coordinator capable of drafting up smart out-of-the-box plays, which we have, and a smart fan base, which no one has, I am game for this strategy. However, all it takes is one loss by three, when we went for it instead of kicking a FG, or gave it to an opponent in FG range, and the fans will howl--regardless of the two games we won directly because of the strategy. Stupid comparison, I know, but my flag football team had a strategy of going for almost every time. Despite having less physical talent than most teams, we made a conversion more often than not, and won more games with the strategy than if we hadn't had it, IMO. After a few times, the dread of not stopping the conversion 60 percent of the time outweighs the elation of getting the ball on downs 40 percent. Again, I know the NFL most definitely ain't flag football, but the strategy and psychology are the same. For what it's worth, I'd be happy going for it on fourth much more often. This team needs a spark. Badly.

The mindless negativity here is...mindless. I'm as turned off as the next fan at the disappointment of this season--I had hopes of an 11-5 or 10-6 year and am blown away at the ineffectiveness of this D and the regression of Fitz--but c'mon y'all! Seriously. if you don't think the Bills have even a slight chance to beat the Pats, and if you think this team is worse than the Jags, which I've seen mentioned here, leave...and come back next April...cause you're making TBD unenjoyable with the nonstop nonsensical negativity. We were up 2 TDs last time at the half (before we disintegrated), 3 TDs the time before that at the half (before we blew it), and down 11 points the time before that (when we beat them in glorious fashion). If the Bills play four quarters of solid football, it's reasonable to think the team has a legit shot at winning. It's unreasonable to think the latter.

CJ Spiller, enough touches?
Just in Atlanta replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's kind of silly--you're taking the gloom and doom too far. Jacksonville, by far, is the worse team in the league. They are beyond terrible. We're a, once again, 6-10 or maybe 7-9 team. -
I think he's an above-average coordinator who called a terrible game against Houston and has a QB who can't throw it deep. Given Fitz' inabilities and the RBs' amazing abilities, we need to run more. But we are not a smashmouth football team. We also got to be able to adjust. If they play the underneath game, we have to run more and take some chances deep. If they play us deep, we run and throw short. If they crowd the box, then we spread em out. Chan's weakness so far is in-game adjustments. Chan doesn't run this team, he coaches it. I'm not sure he has the authority to select, or fire. I had to Google our offensive coordinator's name. No one ever mentions him. Couldn't ID him if he were in my house. If Chan is calling the plays, what is Modkins' role?

Jauron vs Gailey, Who's better, not even close!
Just in Atlanta replied to USABuffaloFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And, hence, our dilemma with Jauron vs. Gailey. Jauron is a punch to the balls. Gailey is a jab to the face. Would rather have Gailey. We Bills fans are sad creatures. Been getting punched for 12 years. When will this team be relevant again? -

Face any day of the week. Would rather take two punches to the face. Who in their right mind would rather get punched in the nuts? Gailey is better btw. -
Jauron vs Gailey, Who's better, not even close!
Just in Atlanta replied to USABuffaloFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like half of TBD posters, I woke up depressed from the results last night. This thread is even more depressing. Are we really debating who's better--a perennial 7-9 gutless wonder who leaves us feeling hopeless we'll ever rise out of medioctrity...or a 6-10 coach who at least leaves us hopeful we'll be relevant. A year ago, we were all bellowing the brilliance of Gailey's offensive schemes which got amazing production out of mid-round talent. Now, he's a retread because he couldn't find a way to beat the best D in the league last week. During the dark Jauron years, I thought we'd never be relevant. At least with Gailey, I feel this team can turn the page any week. F*$%, that's depressing! -

The one and only TBD Political Thread
Just in Atlanta replied to Simon's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'll rehash what I said on Breaking the Law today--Whoever wins, the office of the president is taken too seriously. He, thankfully, cannot introduce legislation. He, at most, is the figurehead leader abroad. He does "set the tone." But he is simply head of the executive branch of government, one of three federal branches. He cannot solve your problems with regulation. But his signature might make them worse. He works for you, not the other way around. He is a politician. On another note, surprised also at the love Gary Johnson is getting. Someday, maybe, a Libertarian candidate will be debating next to a D and a R. Think the more realistic option is for freedom lovers to push Republicans to stop being asshats on social issues, and to have them really push for less spending and smarter tax policies, such as the Fair Tax. Democrats seem like a lost cause for anyone who favors freedom over other values, like fairness. They used to stand for freedom. Their platform now is everything but freedom in every way imaginable. Unless all you care about is gay marriage, freedom lovers have two choices--one guy who will take away fewer freedoms and another guy who wants to give more of them back but has no shot of becoming president of his neighborhood association let alone the country. -
The whole argument against splitting carries is crazy. We have two types of backs--one who can do it all, and the other, a small-framed guy who can break a big one at any second. Let's get over this nonsense already. Running isn't an all or nothing proposition. Why are so many people obsessed with who gets more touches? We have two assets--let's use them both more.

Sean Payton could be a free agent.

Nix has already said Chan has another year to right the ship. This is moot unless the team completely crashes and burns, which I don't think is going to happen. -
Breakdown of the Texans zone running scheme

Just had a vision of this zone running scheme parting our D like the Red Sea and Arian Foster skipping--literally--into the promised land. -
Week 9 Haiku, Wanny Style

Sorry to burst your bubble. Any rapper knows vaginy rhymes with Wanny. For inspiration...things that rhyme with orange. -

Good one K-9. -
Maybe The Senator can cheer us up with some sunshine-y poetry. But I'm feeling pretty down about this team right now, especially Wanny and his non-blitzing, live-or-die-by-his-stubborn ways. So here we go, my tribute to Wanny and Week 9: Fans say "mix it up." Wanny says "just fit it up." Ha, no blitz for you!

kansas city...unthinkable stat through 8 games...
Just in Atlanta replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They've also turned the ball over something like 18 times, on track for an NFL record. -
Thank God for Urban Dictionary. Junk and stuff: 1. junk and stuff 25 up, 60 down used in conjunction with terms such as whatnot, this and that, and whoever, to describe a broad field of ideas. milas: we should go swimming and junk and stuff. Glad he didn't say "stuff and junk": 2. stuff n' junk 4 up, 13 down genitalia of any kind. see: kibbles n' bits you'd better not forget to wash your stuff n' junk, or people won't like you.

I like the guy. Think he's done amazing things with a mediocre offense. Would love to see him as our OC next year. Don't know if that's ever happend in the NFL though. I wouldn't see it as a demotion either. He's a great OC. He (so far) has not made it happen at HC, and appears to separate himself entirely from the defense side of operations.

It took them 7 games, but THEY DID IT!! Worst D in NFL
Just in Atlanta replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well at least we finally excel at something after 12 years. Tired of all this mediocrity. If we're going to be bad, might as well be the worst. -
It took them 7 games, but THEY DID IT!! Worst D in NFL
Just in Atlanta replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amazing Glad you were one of the few who didn't buy into the hype. But we already had a strong interior for a 4-3. We add Williams and sack machine Anderson, as well as a corner back draft pick that everyone was saying was the most NFL ready corner in the draft. Plus, we already had a strong safety core. Don't think it was illogical to think this D line was going to be one of the best, and that the entire team was finally on the short path to respectability. Also don't think it's bipolar for fans to express negativity. This D is on track to be one of the worst Ds of all time. No one in their right mind is saying in seriousness we need to cut Mario.
