Only if they decided he should have been the read. And even then he’d likely get a positive score but possibly diminished a bit -

Someone once told me you could hyper analyze and find the flaw in any play. Might be the case for some here. if splitting hairs over 5th vs 6th, there’s something to be said for it being a great game that was acknowledged as such and then enjoying the debate instead of being frustrated by it (not you specifically but the global tone of “they hate him” for this) -

I know the drop doesn’t count against the qb in pff - that was kind of my point though. that just pointing at a stat line doesn’t tell the whole story, (but neither does pff). All 6 guys had big stat games and I doubt it’s some huge drop off for josh. I’m just pointing out pff agrees he was one of the absolute best in the week. Folks were acting like it was insane to be 6 but without analyzing on that level hes among some pretty big games up there. (and I’ll mention for you that you might find something wrong, but you also might find something better than thought analyzing it, like Davis being the right throw despite the open receiver) -

to be fair, I was using it as a throwaway bar napkin example because the board had a big thread on it, not as an actual criticism. I also included commentary about the progressions being a consideration when judging whether the wide open pass would be reasonable expectation. -

if in 2.5 secs one guy throws great ball dropped by smith and the other is joshs pass.... which play would you grade the qb better? I can see making a great read and solid pass being a better individual performance still and that being good insight beyond yards and completion percentage. I don’t know how the grader marked that specific play. Could have said smith wasn’t the reasonable progression and given a perfect score. no stat will ever tell the whole story. He had a great game and received a great score. -

is it insane to think tannehill may have made many similarly good throws regardless? I didn’t watch the game and 400 yards can be wildly slinging erratically or great discipline. I didn’t see if he was hitting his reads well to dispute his grade. If someone brings breakdown of one of the others playing badly, so be it. As is they all looked good on paper and the pff folks said they all passed the eye test. No need to be insulted by being among the very best scores in the week And pff doesn’t grade on just yards, I was just pointing out he was highly productive for instance, he probably got a very good grade on the Davis laser but might have come up short of the 2.0 score if they decided he missed the open Lee smith and shouldn’t have. I don’t think any of us analyzed these guys on that level. he’s in an elite group for the week. -

He did have 389 yards and a TD so it’s not insane Stanford had 400+ Baker was 338 and 4tda rodgers and mahomes both look like they had good games i surely didn’t see all 6 performances but this isn’t an egregious snub even if he deserves to be a few higher. He’s in the elite grouping from the week. -
obviously fans can be wrong. This is turning into one of the stranger rants in awhile. And there have been some strange ones

there are times when distance can be an asset. is this one of those times? Maybe. heck, for all we know there could be debate on this topic between McD, beane, and Daboll.

honestly have no idea on that specific play. Was more of a global commentary on Lee smith. bates is a great example of a better blocker that could benefit from consistent live fore reps. Something along the lines of Zach streif starting out on the saints in that role then kicking in as full time tackle after a couple seasons. if the blocking tight end is no threat downfield, may as well just maximize the blocking, no? just because a successful coach does something doesn’t mean he is always correct
-
I’ve always liked giving live reps to a young guy who is likely a better blocker if you are basically conceding the pass threat anyway. Just another option for the future in that role, not saying cut him today.

Should just have our 6th lineman report eligible in that package

Yeldon isn’t a game changer but I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten more looks honestly. he’s a productive vet and has a usable skill set

It’s official. The New York Jets legendarily suck!

Gregg thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. He was trying to surprise carr to get a sack since he had given up open shots into the end zone playing coverage. It was very much a Gregg move. just declaring it never done doesn’t make it true. Though if you keep throwing on ore qualifiers you may get there -

Gregg has definitely blitzed in end of game situations before -
How about Aaron Jones at RB next year?
NoSaint replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has been a real struggle, eh? you have all the stats at your fingertips and have used a lot of them but then you go and get hyperbolic with stuff leaving it easy to dismiss. 18-20 carries a game is bell cow back status at 288-320 carries. Last year only 3 guys hit that 18 mark (4if you count mccaffrey a carry shy), any 303 led the league (just shy of 19) Jones was 14.75 per game. Could he get an extra carry each game and the shift 3-4 carries once a month on top of that? Sure, but is that a substantial enough swing to be meaningful? Meh. with focusing on TDs so much it does feel more like a fantasy football argument than a packer win/lose argument. -
I can’t tell, are you attributing a quote or answering the question?
-
honestly, there’s a good chance he was on his last legs even without the hit. I’m not trying to send a Christmas card to the dude that hit him or saying he’s absolved of being an ass for the hit... but I think we can only truly blame him for the short term impact not a career ended

Can we update the schedule?

honestly, do you use that resource? -
Are we already claiming 3 studs here? modern nfl defenses go to a nickel, honestly. That’s not McD defenses, that’s nfl defenses.
-
no one ever sees these good 2nd-3rd year qbs becoming “meh” vets. But they end up with depleted coaching staffs and diminished rosters and teams quickly learn whether they can carry the load or if they were being carried I like his odds but it wouldn’t be unheard of to see bad habits drift back in when the situation is less optimal

Refs and Mcdermott mic'd up for Josh's taunting call

The alternative would be forfeiting the game. So yes.
