That’s reason for hope with Coleman. On the other hand, Coleman performed at a Gabe Davis rookie season level too. Hopefully Coleman follows more of the Moulds career trajectory rather than Gabe.

I think one thing that helped Josh take the next step as leader of the team was not having Diggs there. Diggs has an alpha persona and will try to step up as the leader. That said, I wonder if his departure also forced Josh to be the one to step into that role, and if Diggs would consider coming back and letting Josh continue as the new unquestioned leader of the team. The leadership dynamics have changed, but would Diggs actually fall in line behind Josh now, because everyone knows Josh can actually fill that role now? Also, given Diggs’ circumstances, I wonder if Beane gave him an idea of his market value to the Bills (aka, hey, we’d be willing to pay you this), and Diggs is using that as leverage to land himself some kind of deal elsewhere. Which would be fine by Beane if we weren’t serious in going after him, because it at least drives up the price a little for someone else.

Not saying I want it to happen, but it’d be ironic if we re-signed Diggs at a huge discount, while fleecing Houston out of that 2nd Rd pick too.

I get that Cooper is a quiet guy, just question how much passion he really has for the game. Cook and Milano are quiet too, but the passion in their play speaks a lot more volumes than what I saw from Cooper. Maybe he was more injured than we all knew, but even McD seemed to downplay him as an addition to the team when the trade first happened.

I count five there that started a meaningful number of games as rookies on the defensive side of the ball. And that doesn’t include Edmunds. So just because you couldn’t remember any, didn’t mean that rookies never start for McD.
