9 bad contracts out of 10. And his brother Dalvin's game fell off dramatically after he got paid too. There are varying degrees of want-to that RB's seem to lose after they get paid. And that can be the difference between being great and being a league minimum journeyman. Guys like Saquon and Henry have legacy on their mind. They are thinking HoF as their motivation. Cook is most likely just looking to follow in his bro's steps and get that bag. Keep replacing them. It's a great RB draft, add another and prepare to move on. In fact, don't extend ANY of the 5 pending FA's early. Avoid the perception of favoritism and use those 10-11 pick drafts that they have the next couple of seasons to address replacing "good" players and try to find a couple "great" one's. Cook ain't great. He is a very nice 2 down RB with some sketchy off field concerns.

Crosby is entering his age 28 season and Garrett his age 29 season. They are 21 months difference in age not 3 years (your 27 and 30 analogy). Crosby is coming off an injury plagued season and has never been a first team All Pro or serious NFLDPOY contender(highest finish 4th). Garrett is coming off a NFLDPOY type season......after winning it the season before.......and is a 4 time first team All Pro. Crosby has been very good, until this season.......but Garrett is clearly the better player by a significant margin. Garrett's .88 sacks per game career versus Crosby's .63 is a massive disparity.

Yeah Cybo didn't prepare well enough last offseason and was a liability for the first month or so. He's not lived up to second round guard status and it's by far the position on the line they could upgrade the easiest. And David Edwards is entering his walk year(and is pretty young still so he might get a decent deal elsewhere if he shows out again). NC State's Anthony Belton is a big RT type that some scouts think will make a very good guard.......that kind of versatility and potential would have to be considered if he is there early in round 4.

It's not even close to just one player though.......they've aged out on a broad scale.......Miller, Hyde, Poyer, Milano, DJones, White, Johnson.......all gone or significantly declined in play/impact/availability since 2022. And the opportunistic, inexpensive replacements aren't very durable. Benford, Bernard and Rapp are just plain fragile and are 1 for 6 combined in being able to play that playoff game against KC. If they can all be on the field and finish those Chiefs games the defensive results wouldn't have been nearly as bad as the 2020-2021 speed-boat jobs in KC........which I think were largely due to zero impact from Edmunds when playing good teams. He would just get assaulted thru the air because they knew there was no chance he would make a play. He could reach the low hanging fruit like rookie QB's with those long arms but that's about it. And that made those early 20's defense's a bit of a paper tiger in the playoffs.

Bills fans tend to find themselves rooting for the Eagles a lot

If you favor a team with a terrible fan base over one with a great one.......well fans don't matter to you then. You make a good internet fan. Having to tailgate with those people is another matter. Like I said, play the Eagles in the SB next year and you'll find the totally ancillary Mahomes commercials and Taylor Swift stuff to be a lot less of a concern. -
The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
BADOLBILZ replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
If there were a re-draft Keon Coleman would go in about the same spot as he did. Maybe exactly the same spot. There were some players the Bills passed on who could have been better and they would have gone earlier. Others worse and would have gone later. But 19.2 yards per catch 556 yards and 4 TD isn't anything to sneeze at for an early second rounder. I'd actually rank that over Kincaid's much overhyped rookie year. He caught a lot of passes but for a pathetic 9 yards per catch. He was also 24 as a rookie. Coleman is a project but he's young and has plenty of upside. -

Yeah those Pittsburgh Pirates fans are insufferable. I don't think you understand the exercise here. Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Sixers........their fans are all the worst in their individual sport. Nobody throws batteries at Santa Claus like Philly fans. -
Bills expected to hire CB coach Pellegrino from Patriots
BADOLBILZ replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
It wasn't a great debut for Babich, that is for sure. I don't know if that means Butler should have been hired though. They went from the HC calling plays to hiring a new DC so there is a bit of an "OC for Andy Reid" level accountability vibe for whoever takes over the Bills D. It's kinda' been McD's defense either way. Eric Washington also got poached and given the DC job in Chicago(and failed). -

Who could be worse? I remember my Yankees playing the Phillies in the 2009 World Series and despite the fact they the Yanks are the pinnacle of american sports success and the Phillies had largely sucked in their history they thought they were going to sweep them. Yanks beat the crap out of them and made them look like buffoons(like the Dodgers did to the Yankees this year). I mean, make no mistake, Boston fans are Buffalo's biggest sports rival. But at least Boston fans have some self-doubt when they are overmatched. Philly fans are delusional and when they don't get what they want they are beyond terrible to their teams/players. -
Anyone on the Bills you think could be traded?
BADOLBILZ replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah it was telling last offseason when Bills fans were shocked that they released a bunch of CLEARLY washed up veterans. The Bills have largely avoided the kind of mass free agent losses that other long time contenders have. That surgery is the kind of thing that has to be done for the good of the franchise. Teams like the Chiefs and Ravens have been in their competitive window considerably longer and have sacrificed a lot of good players to the market in free agency or trade. That's the way it has to be. -
I envision Bruce, Kelly, Thurman, Andre and Tasker popping champagne like the 72' Dolphins next January.

Kincaid might net you a 5th in this draft. If he repeats this past season he wouldn't be worth a pick at all next year. Better off hoping he gets his sh!t together and toughens himself up. Pretty deep class of TE's in this draft. Hopefully the Bills find one on day 3 to succeed Knox in 2026. As it turned out, Dawson Knox was exaggerating for effect in his defense of Kincaid. Like I speculated, Kincaid clearly didn't have a fully torn PCL. Just a sprain. Bills confirmed that. No surgery required. He's probably on the slopes today back home. -

Play them in the SB next year. That will cure you of that quick. Philadelphia fans are easily the worst and most arrogant(justified or not) fans in pro sports. Yes, even worse than New England sports fans. -

Yeah Spotrac is projecting Cook at 4 years $40M. That's not bad value if he continues his upward trajectory(and can start playing 3rd downs) but I think these kind of contracts are the reason Beane doesn't ever have much cap room to work with. The White, Milano, Knox deals that have backfired. They have a bunch of similarly "good" players who are all coming due for extensions this offseason or they will hit free agency after 2025 so the obvious trade candidates are: Benford Bernard Cook Rousseau Shakir Bernard wouldn't have much value so I think you ride it out with him but I'm not inclined to extend ANY of them so with that being the case, the right trade situations make sense. -
Superbowl Game Thread - Chiefs vs Eagles
BADOLBILZ replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah it's an important point about the Hunt family being a little thrifty. It's not like what Belichick gradually did to his roster because I am sure Kraft would have paid for talent but Belichick just made a lot of bad choices. Veach makes good choices but I think once they started collecting Lombardi trophies they lost a little of their taste for spending. And it's more difficult there because the wealth is split among family members. Individually, Clark Hunt would be the poorest owner in the league. He has to have his family aligned on spending and that situation can be difficult. -
Yeah Jalen Carter was a #1 overall worthy player. That was a disaster for other NFC contenders when he fell to the Eagles. Put Oliver and Rousseau on either side of Carter and they will look like they found another gear(or 2). Put Nolan Smith on the other side of Daquan Jones and I think there are complaints about Nolan Smith. Carter is a game changer on the DL. He doesn't come off the field and he gets pressures like a high end edge rusher from the inside.
-
I don't really get your point though. Both teams have thrown a lot of assets at the DL. The big difference is that the Eagles got incredibly lucky that Jalen Carter was there at pick 13. That makes everything else work. The next biggest difference is probably that they invested more in day 3 DL than the Bills have. The Bills don't have a Milton Williams or Sweat. But Greg Rousseau is better than the Eagles DE's. Every NFL personnel person would agree. Oliver at #8 overall is a better player and pick than Jordan Davis at #9 overall. In fact, if Davis were in the middle without Carter that might be a point of criticism for Howie. Roseman has also done better with FA DL with guys like Hargrave and Reddick(though Bryce Huff looks like a big fail and that is the main reason why their pass rush was underwhelming this season). So Howie has been better at his choices on the DL but they've also used first round picks up on 3 WR(Reagor, Smith, Brown) since 2020 and took a CB last year etc.. It's not like all they do is use premium assets on the DL and the Bills just haven't tried hard enough or are wasting picks on different positions. Their strategies are not that dissimilar.

The Eagles beat the Chiefs by doing the opposite of the Bills
BADOLBILZ replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nobody has a better overall roster than the Eagles. Doesn't mean the Bills aren't better in a number of starting positions. Howie Roseman is just the best personnel man in the NFL. But the gap in rosters isn't vast. The thing is, the Eagles are not only better but also have more chips to work with to improve theirs. The Bills are a couple years further into their QB window so they have more cap issues. Josh is over $40M cap hit this year and Hurts is around $20M, for example. And Hurts is easily their biggest cap number. They are sitting pretty and primed to add/retain pro talent with their cap situation for another year or two. And I expect them to replace guys like Sweat and Baun with cheaper players or better players(Myles Garrett?). Because that's how Howie seems to be able to do it. So Beane would have to really have a great offseason if the goal were to match rosters with the Eagles. -
That OR the best OL in the league........and 2 top 15 WR in the NFL........for their fairly robotic very good but non-elite QB to throw to from a pocket with no pressure. Eagles roster is better than the Bills in a lot of areas and the pass rush isn't one of the more significant differences. WR is actually the biggest spread. 2 out of 3 are way better than the Bills options. DL, the Bills could make a couple adds and be as good or better. OL, probably just need to upgrade on Cybo to level up with them.

BADOLBILZ replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well he was the game plan advisor against the Chiefs for those Eagles in 2022 but wasn't the DC........so does that SB loss to Mahomes count? I think Vic is like 0-5 versus Josh Allen too. Point is.........he's not some great schematic genius DC.........not beating yours with his and his with yours.........and YES I will count his record with other teams. -
Yeah the Eagles are STOUT in the middle of their DL. That is the biggest difference. Not the pass rush. The Bills vulnerability in the middle often takes the starch out of their pass rush because inviting the run leads to the ends having to be more assignment sound. And stout in the DL allows the LB's to make plays. That's why Baun could become an NFL DPOY candidate. Eagles also improved their secondary by going with 2 DB's early in the draft last year. But it just so happened in this game that the pass rush showed up for them and now fans who don't really follow the rest of the NFL that closely think they had a fearsome foursome of pass rushers on every down. Not the case.

BADOLBILZ replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Being rested, healthy and on a neutral field played an important role as well. The Chiefs had some advantages over the Bills in that AFCCG, which could be attributed to the bye and #1 seed. They didn't have those against the Eagles. Good for Fangio though he was like 0-9 all-time versus Mahomes prior to that. Blind squirrel finally found a nut.
