  1. I like the fact that it appears that there is going to be a lot of quality competition this year. It will take some time to get with one another but by mid year we should be markedly improved from last year. Having a quality center should help a good bit.
  2. I suppose anything is possible but hes certainly trending in the right direction, he certainly is all about Buffalo and seems to have really good work ethic. Who knows what the draft will bring about or if Duke turns out to be a real gem and if Beasley and Brown really acclimate themselves to the team. But those are a whole bunch of ifs that would need to happen to have Zay not make the team. I would say that odds are he makes the team and probably is one of the first 4 WR's to get on the field at the start of the year.
  3. I would be shocked if it came under $10m a year. His production and athleticism warrants around $12-14m a year. If it weren't for his shoulder he would easily get that.
  4. That's another area where Beane is far superior to anything we've had in recent memory and that is quality guys doing the evaluations. Dan Morgan is yet another guy who will most likely end up being a future GM. Having quality guys doing the evaluating on the team just improves the odds of obtaining good talent exponentially. I sense that we are in really good hands and have very little worries that they will select good players to build this team around through the draft.
  5. Patience. They have filled many holes, now they should sit back and wait for the right opportunities. Good players will be cut right before the season begins.
  6. Not me, I knew that his approach was much different more methodical with a clear-eyed vision than what we'd seen before. That's half the battle. The other half.......... Bringing in the talent
  7. Certainly concerning. Fingers crossed
  8. Solid signing. Creates great separation is YAC machine and has a history of really good production.
  9. I wouldn't expect him to sign until after he's met up with the Saints.
  10. Well someone has to pay for Sammy's 600 yard per year production at the tune of $17m per year.
  11. I didnt say having a top tiered WR precludes you from winning a superbowl I said not having one isnt necessary to win a superbowl.
  12. "The last 1st team All Pro WR who was on a super bowl winning team was all the way back in 2006 with Marvin Harrison. Heck, even if you go back the last 10 years to see the top WR's on the winning team, you would be hard pressed to find a handful of pro bowl receivers. " I did say "winning" Superbowl team. Dont get me wrong, would love to have one but they arent needed.
  13. I keep reading from a number of posters the belief or direct implication that in order to have a successful football offense that you need a top tiered #1 WR. The last 1st team All Pro WR who was on a super bowl winning team was all the way back in 2006 with Marvin Harrison. Heck, even if you go back the last 10 years to see the top WR's on the winning team, you would be hard pressed to find a handful of pro bowl receivers. My belief is that if you can field 4 quality and complimentary WR's that are not considered "True #1's" that not only can you get by but thrive as long as there is a QB that can distribute it. If Foster can improve upon what he did last year you will have a really speedy and productive mid to deep threat. If John Brown can continue what he was beginning to show when Flacco was the QB last year, then you have another ultra fast effective deep threat. Beasley is an upper tiered slot receiver that has shown time and time again that he can get open. Zay improved markedly from his rookie year but I still have some doubts with him. He would need to continue to improve. And I still believe the Bills will draft a WR in this years draft, there are too many good prospects to not go after at least one of them. The speed of Foster and Brown should really help open up the field and lead to dynamic plays and I believe that Daboll will continue to install his vertical passing offense that should create lots of opportunities for Beasley/Kroft and running lanes for Josh to scramble. Yeah, we don't want him running too often but to not utilize his rushing skills would be insane. I'm excited, I think most of the receiving pieces are potentially here. Which is a far cry from where we were one year ago.
  14. Well, yeah. For those that have recognized that this was always meant to be a 3-5 year rebuild with slashing all the players/contracts that they didnt believe fit this organization the first 2 years were designed to be the most painful. There is no doubt in my mind that Beane pitched Pegula of this plan of getting rid of some talent and dead cap space and that he would retool this team with a different philosophy not just from a culture standpoint but how they would do their contracts with players so not to stay anchored with them for years if the players didnt live up to expectations. Now that the slashing is largely done this was meant to be the year of the upswing in talent and there is pressure now to perform at a higher level than the first two years. If they were to regress or even play similar level of football than this past year then Pegula will begin to lose trust and then they will be on the hot seat the following year. I think all indications show that we should be an improved offense. I still think they will go after a quality DE lineman through either FA or a trade and will pick the BPA with their #9 which will also be a DL.
  15. Some people are able to see his clear-eyed, methodical approach to how they're running this organization. Others........ Not so much On most of the contracts so far, yes. If they dont perform you cut them and move on and replace them the following year with no Dead Cap hit. Unlike the previous organization where if a player underperformed.....oh well. You're S.O.L
  16. Get me Ziggy Ansah and a couple more special team players and we are good to go till the draft.
  17. Wow! Could set up to be an even more impressive FA offseason next year due to all the up front money. That's what I'm talking about!
  18. Antonio Brown signed for around $19M I think. These guys signed for $16.5M. Plus Antonio Brown is a potential headache with great production who is 31 years old. Plus, This is an average salary of less than 50% of his so you are able to lock up two solid contributors for the price of less than AB. Plus no draft choices had to be given out. Given their youth, that they are 2 solid players who will most likely be part of the starting 3 at the very least starting 4 and not having to deal with the headache that comes along with AB and not giving up any draft choices that comes in slightly cheaper than AB...... Definitely Beasley/Brown
  19. Seems like he is universally loved by all the NFL analyst/draftnik sort of guys. Plus his PFF and actual stats are pretty impressive. Looks like a very solid signing
  20. I don't believe he's going anywhere. He will compete to be out on the field and I think he will end up finding some playing time.
  21. The Bills don't need a true #1. NFL offenses can thrive with a near handful of competent receivers as long as they have someone who can distribute it to them. The Bills are looking to pick up on this trend but add a twist to it by going more vertical with this approach than what we've seen. The thinking is that they have a QB that can not only sling it down the field to the receivers but with the vertical approach it will open up running lanes for Allen to take advantage for chunk running plays. I think it's going to work.
  22. Are the JESTS still winning the off season? That's the word
  23. I think this is an excellent signing. He has shown that he can get it done. He is an absolute burner one of the fastest guys in the NFL. He is beginning to enter into his prime. And $9 million a year for Brown and his upside I happen to believe is a bargain. I think it's important for everyone to remember this is a vertical offense and the Bills didn't begin to show what they could do until once they began to extend the field vertically. Brown is an excellent pickup and to be honest with you, I don't think it's necessary to have a true #1 for offenses to succeed. I think a 3-4 good, speedy #2 and slot receivers is a formula for success with the right QB.
