  1. The defense is good but they weren't as good as the overall ranking suggests. The red zone defense was bad and they need to be able to generate more pass pressure with the front 4. Murphy was signed on with the hopes that he would help with the pass pressure but he's often injured and now we lost Kyle Williams, which is not an insignificant loss. Couple that with Hughes going into a contract year and Lorenzo just about at the end of his career, getting another pass rusher is a priority as well and if there is a good one to be had, then you go for it. The idea that you put on the blinders to defense and only look at offense would be extremely stupid if you were a GM. No GM worth his salt would ever consider doing something so dumb. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a heavier focus at looking at the offensive side of the ball but what you are advocating is to forget about the defense and only look to offense. You are taking away approximately 50% of the players and would end up overreaching on a number of players if you were to do something like this. As you noted, the defense has a number of good pieces and those parts will help this team field a good defense, but they have not arrived yet. They NEED another guy aside from Hughes to wreak havoc in the backfield and from my view and I'm pretty sure theirs as well they believe it to be a priority. And rightfully so.
  2. A 2nd and a 4th. Could be enough.
  3. Sometimes they just do it to retain the player to buy some time and end up trading for considerably less.
  4. How convenient. It doesnt fit your predetermined narrative, therefore it's not true. Amirite?
  5. Not the "bad" guy but the unreasonable guy, not unlike many fans. So you are in good company. Unreasonable because the past ineptitude with this organization has very little to do with this current regime. This current regime had a plan to begin with and anyone who read in between the lines and can actually view them from the actions they have committed can see that they unloaded a lot of the "talent" this team had because it didn't fit what they believe their team should field. We can judge them reasonably in the next year or two to see whether or not they made the right decisions with some of the people they traded away or decided not to pick up. But it's clear they wanted to instill their defense and search for a franchise QB in the first couple two years. From most accounts, the defense is on very solid footing and there is certainly a lot of hope with what we've seen from Josh Allen. They now have lots of money and draft capital to shore up the team. Rather than applaud the FO for kicking the tires on AB, you'd rather focus your ire on Beane and company and have them pay for the past sins of this organization and criticize a somewhat raw hopeful rookie for not tearing it up with passing stats is unreasonable. When you say "where WR"s go to die" and use that as a hammer to bludgeon this FO that is another unreasonable statement. Why? Because the QB they had in year one (Tyrod) was part of that problem and this FO acted quickly on it and made all sorts of trades to get the draft capital to get THEIR guy. So that "where WR's go to die" trope is not relevant to this FO. That's why you are getting the criticism and deservedly so.
  6. Reading some of these over-the-top comments is ?. Before this rumor came about thinking with a clear mind without the emotion I didnt believe a trade for AB made sense on a number of levels: A) He is 31 years old B) He is a very selfish player that undoubtedly creates risk for the team if things dont start going HIS way. C) He would have cost this team a 1st round draft choice. D) This is a deep draft for WR's E) There are some good FA slot WRs available that wouldn't necessitate us trading away high draft capital and that would cost the team much less in salary cap room. F) AB reportedly wants to renegotiate his contract to the highest paid WR in the league. G) He allegedly doesnt want to be a Bill Sure, when I heard the news that he may be coming the emotion of an elite talent excites you and if the trade would have happened I would have gotten behind it. But when you strip out the emotion and look at this logically, this move wouldn't have made sense for this organization at this time.
  7. And lets hire Ray Lewis and Michael Vick to mentor them.
  8. You don't know what you are talking about! Just because the NFL says he was the best defensive rookie of the month at the end of the season along with 43 tackles, 4 pass break ups and 2 int's in his final 4 games isn't nearly as noteworthy as Scott Law's eagle expert eye analysis.
  9. I'm perfectly fine with Poyer. Pass
  10. Not only is he timed with blazing speed but he has even faster game day speed. His short area quickness is even more impressive than his 4.31 speed. He separates against everyone, no one has shown an ability to hang with him. He crushed all DBs who tried covering him even supposed 1st and 2nd round future DBs. He has the balance of a RB and is much harder to bring down than what his size suggests. If used properly he will be a 100 reception 1200 yard 8 td weapon within a couple years. If he weren't labeled a "slot" WR he would easily be a first rounder. Hes going to end up being a steal for whoever drafts him.
  11. Isabella will have the best career of the 2019 WR class.
  12. Thank you! My God, I was thinking am I the only one who understands that when someone says "at least" that explicitly implies at the very least and does not mean average?
  13. He said "at least", which means that's at the bottom of the medium, not the average. Again, he said "at least".
  14. Anything is possible. The Chiefs paid Sammy top 3 money and he's at best a top 30 guy.
  15. He's solid. He has decent straight line speed, big catch radius, reliable hands and a good to really good blocker. He instantly becomes the #1 TE on the team. I hope we get him.
  16. Clay is a class act and a consummate professional. His best days are behind him and he is a shell of his former self. I wish him nothing but the best.
  17. Some posters on this board believe that the player formerly known as A.B and now known as Mr. Big Chest is what was right with the Steelers organization.
  18. I just keep having flashbacks of that one tackle in the Alabama game where the pass rusher grabbed him with one arm and threw him to the ground like a rag doll. Avoiding the rush isn't just about elusiveness it's about being able to break through arm tackles and I think this is an area that he may struggle.
  19. Anyone who believes that an organization is going to get in "all their kind of players" within a couple years is either being purposely obtuse or simply ignorant. Building a roster is not as simple as some people believe it to be. There are tons of considerations ranging from does that player fit the scheme? does he fit the culture? What is the cost towards the cap for that player? Can they replace that player with similar or higher level of play for less of a cost? What are the salary cap implications with that player? Does the organization value a certain position higher or lower than the previous and what are they willing to spend for that player at that position? Does the organization believe it can get quality players through the draft at certain positions on a consistent basis so that they don't have to pay high dollar contracts for that position? Do they value players higher on player availability and not being injury prone? The list goes on and on and on and it's not an exact science. All these variables fit into a puzzle. What some people are having a hard time getting through their thick skulls is that McDermott and Beane had a mandate when they came in. They sold their vision of what this organization should look like to Pegula and Pegula bought into it. They are executing their vision the way they see fit, will it work? That is yet to be determined but from my perspective they have cleaned house the way that I had hoped that they would, they have put in some key pieces to build this organization with and there is without doubt from my view a clear detailed plan to continue that vision, unlike Whaley who had an eye for talent but just put together pieces in a hodge podge manner and was terrible at placing a value on that talent. And just to revisit the criticism in some quarters that because they turned over just about the entire roster within 2 years and that is some sort of justification to their narrow points that this is proof positive that they do have "their guys" is devoid of any context. Yes, they got rid of the players but that doesn't mean the replacements are "their guys". Many of those players were never meant to be long-term replacements but rather place holders until they got in "their guys", their long-term replacement guys either via the draft or free agency. So this argument or point that they are trying to infer that these are their guys is simply put.......... Stupid. Some of the key pieces are there, the pain of freeing us up from salary cap hell has been made and now there will be more talent coming in than coming out because of the salary cap position that this organization is in. So no matter what how this all turns out, McD/Beane did it their way! And I'd rather have it no other way.
  20. Seriously, you have to be one stupid m'f*cking moron to support the pullout of Amazon from NY. You literally have to be an idiot. Who gives a flying flip if there were tax breaks to win over their business. That's what states do, they compete with each other to earn the business from corporations. I don't give a damn if they paid very little in taxes so long as they created lots of jobs. Think about it, 25,000 jobs. That is 25,000 jobs where taxes will be paid on from both employees and payroll taxes. Think of all the lives that you will impact, how many people who would benefit from upward mobility. These jobs weren't minimum wage jobs, they were intended to be by and large good paying jobs. Not only would there have been the taxes from the incomes that the state would have received but all the economic benefits that are now lost. All these people would have spent that money on various things so now you are losing out on those sales tax revenues. Then there are the residual effects that these jobs would have helped spur more economic activity in that area so many other businesses are now losing out on extra sales because of the loss of Amazon. This is a colossal screw up of epic proportions. This idiot AOC has been the best gift that Trump could have ever imagined. She is handing him a reelection on a silver platter. This is Leftism gone wild. Idiots
  21. He's crazy huge! Just looks unnatural for a WR to be that size.
  22. I think he's looking for $6-$7 M a year range. I think we are looking to give him $4-$5M a year.
  23. For the record, I wanted Rubio to win. I thought he had mild compassionate manner that could have won over some moderates in the middle even though he was pretty staunchly conservative on most issues. I'm just making an observation of how I believe some in base view him. Plus they hate his immigration stance, they butchered him for the same things that Trump is now supporting. If you really think about it, what Trump is proposing is essentially the Gang of 8 Bill that Rubio was crucified for.
  24. Totally, my amusement is with the hypocrisy.
