  1. My position has changed on this topic. I do believe there is a day or reckoning but I can’t possibly see that happening anytime soon or for that matter while the US maintaining its reserve currency status. Some country would have to dethrone the US for that to happen and right now there is no country that in the foreseeable future can even challenge the US for that role. I was more dogmatic on my views of QE and deficits years back but the data has led me to change my views to an extent. So there still is a qualifier there but it’s a remote possibility at this juncture. Also, an area that you were more right than wrong and I was more wrong than right was the view that I believed we would see astonishing levels of inflation. Even though prices of many important consumer goods did go up such as food and energy which are large components for lower wage workers did feel those inflationary pressures but the Wall Street gauges ie. wage inflation never materialized due to the slack in the economy caused by the Great Recession. I will give you credit on that one. On the other hand your views on how prescient of an economist that Krugman is, not so much. ?
  2. It's a preposterous position because all you would have to do is read through his praises of Obama's economy when he was president to his opinions over the past few years and there are so many logical fallacies and inconsistencies with his views that he twists himself into a 3D pretzel.. The only problem I have with the tax cut is that it does contribute a nice chunk of change into the National Debt. But I have to say that I went from being a deficit hawk to something pretty close to a 180 degree view of it over the past few years. I criticized Cheney and found it laughable when he said "Deficits don't matter" to now thinking - He was on to something. It matters, but not in all cases. If you are a country that isn't able to generate a lot of revenue, then deficits matter. But in the case of the U.S who has the dollar as the world's reserve currency and despite all the talk, the U.S is still by far the most attractive flight to safety for investors in the world and it's ability to generate revenues like no other, deficits truly almost don't matter. I'll save that discussion for another day.
  3. When I read this article yesterday it reminded me of this topic. Mark Zandi back at it again: Here is another gem of an opinion from Krugman just 6 months ago: I always like looking back at these sort of articles, specially when it comes from partisan economists. They are so invested in their positions that the slightest hint that they could be right they feel compelled to put themselves on the record and prematurely proclaim victory. I like it when they do that. These opinions from partisan economists that say that the Tax cuts have only benefited the rich and corporations are truly incredulous. It flies in the face of most of the economic data that has been coming out aside from Manufacturing, which I suspect will turn around over the next couple years. Economists are shocked that the hiring has been this strong. Hardly anyone predicted this, then they moved their focus to these ignorant sort of AOC/Bernie sort of claims that "well that's because most people are working two jobs" They claimed that wages weren't rising except for the rich. This is simply not true, wages in fact have been rising for everyone and more so for the lower wage earners. Economic partisans won't ever admit that they were wrong.
  4. The coaching style, play calling and risk taking are not something that is an immovable and intransigent orthodoxy from McD. As the offense, primarily Allen shows that they can win the complete or near complete trust of McD/Daboll then these things will change. As SoTier mentioned earlier the belief at this stage of this team is that with their defense if they can jump out to a lead they look to go slightly more conservative. They believe that if the offense doesn't turn it over they can win once they jump out to the lead. I also believe that Allen had a couple early season turnovers once the Bills had a lead that changed the momentum of the game that nearly cost them and that has had a somewhat lasting impact on their decision making. The problem with going more conservative is that with the good teams, more often than not that won't work when you are clinging to a small second half lead. Allen has shown that he is capable of protecting the ball over the second half of the season and if they plan on winning a game or more in the playoffs then they will have to loosen up the reigns with Allen, even if they have a second half lead.
  5. Vegas had the Bills winning 6 games going into the season. So there is that.
  6. A lot of stems with McD and Beane. Some believe that Beane made some questionable decisions by shipping off Sammy, Dareus and the legendary JAG Jonathan Williams andwon’t own up that he ended up making the right decision. A lot of it also has to do with Beane pulling the trigger for Josh Allen and won’t admit that it appears they chose the right Josh. A lot of it has to do with McD’s coaching style and their perceived coaching style of being too conservative and his constant preaching of building a winning “culture” simply because they don’t understand that culture is a real thing and it matters. Bottom line is that they are too invested in being right than simply recognizing the fact that both Beane and McD are well above average in what they do.
  7. There are some terrible posters but Nextmanup takes it to a whole new level. It’s a matter of routine and my hunch is that most of the starters will play anywhere from a quarter to a half. I’m fully supportive of whatever McD decides, he’s earned the right of the benefit of the doubt.
  8. That’s not the argument I am making. What I’m saying is that you are completely discounting the other side of the coin. As I said in my original post, preferably I would rest all the main contributors.
  9. Or option C). Bills starters get in more of a rhythm for following week in the playoffs and sustain no injuries. The choice you laid out didn’t include the rationale of why you play the starters. With that said, personally I would rather have them not play the starters that much and rest them for the bye week.
  10. I don’t see the Bills investing in a RT, specially considering that the production from that position wasn’t too shabby. Contrary to popular belief, Ford actually played decent the past two games, I’m fairly certain that they will Roll with the same two again. Wide Receiver I believe will be their top priority this off season, specially from Beane’s point of view. He will do everything in his power to provide Allen the tools he needs to succeed. I think McD is craving to have a high quality DE pass rusher so I do think the Bills will be in the market to make a strong push for one. Running back Will most likely be addressed. More depth at DB, and wouldn’t be surprised that they bring in or draft someone to compete with Levi Wallace. I think they will look to replace Lorax with a jack knife sort of player who can both defend the pass and get after the QB. I suspect the Bills will look to resign Phillips and Shaq. I think Foster is a goner and depending on the moves the Bills make Trent Murphy as well. But if they don’t pick up at least one quality DE through the draft or FA then Murphy most likely stays for 2020.
  11. For real! All these hot takes are priceless! Its like “cut all the defensive ends!” ?
  12. This board can truly be insufferable at times.
  13. He’s not a straight ahead runner. Allen has got juke to his game.
  14. Thank you! It's as if he is completely unaware of this fact. The fact that since he's entered into the NFL he is at the tops of the league of winning those sort of games. Yes, he missed the Knox throw and I'm sure that throw will stay with him for some time but the plays he made on that drive to get to that position were truly special. Josh Allen is not that far away from being a top 8 QB in this league. What impressed me the most yesterday aside from his WOW plays was that visualization of the field and decision making in regards to who and where he is throwing to looked great. When he wasn't being smothered with the pass rush he was able to find the right receiver, his problem is his mechanics. He is throwing off his back foot too often and overthrowing receivers, that is something that will be corrected. Just a few minor tweaks to his game and add in another play making receiver and the continued development of Knox and Singletary and this offense will be markedly improved from what it is now. They are not that far away.
  15. Definitely not throw the game and I have a hard time believing they wouldn't go all out to win but on the surface it seemed like they were holding back at least from a scheme point of view. The pass rush packages were definitely Vanilla. With that said, I just think their offense out schemed and executed against the Bills defense.
  16. No, he's an "idiot". In the DC Tom sort of way
  17. To piggyback on this point, the average QB rating against the Patriots this year is 59. 65.6 Roethlisberger Fitzpatrick 23.8 Josh Rosen 33.4 Lulk Falk 47.2 Josh Allen 24 passer rating Colt McCoy 61 Daniel Jones 35.1 Sam Darnold 3.6 Baker Mayfield 79.2 Lamar Jackson 107.7 61 rushing yards 16 attempts Carson Wentz 74.4 17 yards rushing 3 attempts Dak Prescott 64.4 4 yards rushing 1 attempt Deshaun Watson 140 passer rating -4 rushing yards 1 attempt Patrick Mahomes 83.6 passer rating 6 rushing yards 6 attempts Andy Dalton 39.2 passer rating Josh Allen 102.7 passer rating 43 yards rushing on 7 attempts. Josh learned from his first game and put up one of the best games a QB has shown against the Patriots this year. No one is making the argument that he Josh has fully arrived but he's getting close. His field vision is looking a lot more promising, he just needs to tighten up his mechanics some and allow his receivers a chance to make a play on the ball. These things will get ironed out. I am confident of that. For those that believe that Josh didn't have a promising effort against the Patriots can go pound sand.
  18. Yes, it's absurd because he said "large chunks" of the game. And it is absurd to say 75% sub par play. Your defense of his post is also and has no factual basis behind it.
  19. No it doesn't, you are one of the very few that could have taken offense from his post. I would go as far as to say that his post was one of the most reasonable posts that I have read all day. Your post on the other hand.
  20. This is just an absurdly inaccurate statement. It's not even ball park close. It's simply put, mindless drivel.
  21. Yes. That’s what Horowitz went on to clarify in the Senate hearings. Proving systemic bias is a high bar from a technical standpoint but I think a lot of people understand that some of the key players had their own political biases and it’s laughable to suggest that their clear biases didn’t contribute to the 17 errors that Horowitz found. If this evidence was put forward in a court of law with jurors that bias they displayed would have been damning circumstantial evidence to go along with those “errors”
  22. Trumps actions constantly live right up against the lines of impeachable grounds but from my view are not clearly impeachable. Therefore they shouldn’t have been brought up by Democrats. Mistake. What gives me sympathy for the man (Trump) which is a hard thing to do because from a personal level I don’t like the guy is that the media has gone from being biased to completely devoid of impartiality and have bankrupted themselves from their journalistic responsibilities. I haven’t seen hardly any coverage of the FISA judge rebuke of the FBI, the way they reported the Horowitz findings with headlines blaring “no political” bias as being their main takeaway is embarrassing. The main finding was that the FBI screwed up and improperly investigated a presidential candidate. And to this day it’s almost unbelievable how wrong they got it with the Russian collusion deal and they simply don’t care. Objective journalism is dead, the for profit model of pandering to each party’s base is what drives it. Those that report objectively have no core following, therefore it’s not good business and that is lamentable. In regards to Nancy’s gambit to withhold the impeachment articles is yet another stupid decision on their part. Does she really think that she is going to outmaneuver Mitch? Mitch has the leverage and even though I know he isn’t popular with the base the dude is a political wizard and he’s laughing while this clown show from house democrats.
