  1. It’s a conundrum but one that they welcome. Jaquan showed great potential through training camp and was pretty much shelved for the year and when given a chance against the JEts he played at a very high level. My guess is that they will get him out on the field a lot more this upcoming year and based off of how they both play they will reserve that decision until as long as they can. Poyer has been really good for the Bills but jaquan may be a better natural tackler and that ultimately may make a difference.
  2. Well deserved. Beane and McD definitely belonged to be in the discussion but I can't argue with the choices.
  3. I think there is a need to do so, YET. I think there is a good rational case to be made that there are 4 elements at play here that could very well lead to better TE play than what we saw this past year. 1) Knox should see a nice year 2 jump, he has plenty of potential, has shown to be a good blocker who has good speed with good YAC potential. Very excited to see what a 2nd year with him has in store. 2) Sweeney. Similar, he's a decent blocker and much more mobile than Lee Smith. I think he is the logical choice to replace him. He will have a 2nd year in the system to improve on all fronts and it seemed like to me that he has a good bond with Allen. I think he could end up being a good TE for the team. 3) Kroft, was injured through part of training camp and all pre season. Never had a chance to form that on-the-field bond with Allen and if he can show what he's capable of that would give 2 very mobile TE's and one semi mobile one in Sweeney. 4) Allen - having another year in the system to have better rapport with these TE's. I think there is a good chance that our TE play will be better next year than this past year.
  4. Not much aside from the flashes he has shown earlier in his career. I think more than anything it's a matter of having him hopefully have one injury free year, time to form an on-the-field bond with Allen and the hopes would be to have 2 above average in mobility terms TE working together along with Sweeney who I happen to believe will be a decent TE in this league. The Bills won't be in a salary cap crunch next year and my hunch is that they believe they will try to roll with him another year before they cut bait. Unless of course he either A) does poorly in camp or B) gets injured Which are both possibilities. But no need to rush a decision until they get through another camp.
  5. Even if he regressed in year 3 they wouldn't look for a new QB for year 4. He has shown way too much for that to happen. Would it be very concerning? Absolutely and he would be on a short leash in his 4th year with an eye on QB's for year 5. With that said, he's not going to regress. He will continue to improve because he has everything that he needs in between the ears and in his heart. That desire and intelligence along with his out-of-this-world talent will continue to push along his progression as a QB. As raw as he was he has much more room to grow than the other more polished QB's that came into the league along with him. I don't care what anyone says, I believe by the time it's all said and done he will have the best QB career out of all the QB's drafted the same year as him.
  6. I agree with his level of talent. He truly is an enigma, someone who has tremendous explosion, really good speed, a pretty good route runner and a great frame. His problem aside from being injury prone is and has always been whats in between his ears. There is little need to rehash the numbers and quantifiable proof that he has been a tremendous disappointment pretty much everywhere he has gone. What gets me is that earlier this year there was a time when Tyreek Hill was injured and Sammy had every chance to shine. I honestly thought going into this year that THIS would be his year. That FINALLY he would show what he could do and started off with that amazing first game. You know the game where he had 9 catches nearly 200 yards receiving and 3 Touchdowns. Wow! I mean, just Wow! The rest of the year even with Tyreek out for some games he had 43 catches 475 with 0 touchdowns. Not only was he not catching the ball or getting touchdowns but averaged 10.5 yards per reception the remainder of the year. I mean, what happened? Yes, he was injured and missed a couple more games but early in the season when Tyreek was out he was healthy. Up to now, aside from him getting PAID, his football career has been almost tragic in the sense that it was the player with all this talent who never lived up to expectations. You're right in that he isn't old, he is in his prime. Maybe he turns it around.
  7. There is no rational case for anyone to not agree with what I stated. The only ones who disagree are the ones who vehemently thought that the sky was falling and were calling for Beane's head at the time and were so sure that it was the wrong decision and despite all the evidence, his lousy lack luster numbers, his continued penchant for being injured and not showing up for most of games that mattered, they can't admit that Beane made the right decision. It was the one of the most polarizing topics this board had witnessed over the past decade and they were so knee deep in that corner they just can't seem to come around to the same conclusion. Doesn't matter, that opinion is held by a dwindling few. I'm just glad that I was one of the ones from the very beginning to make the case why it was the right decision.
  8. The book has been closed, Beane made the right decision.
  9. Who has been showing Kroft love? I don't recall there being any sort of love, the most optimistic thing that I have read here about him is that he has some potential and would be willing to give him a shot for next year and that is nowhere near the majority of the views that I've read about him. I'd say the few opinions that have been offered about him usually go something like: "Cut him next year, that will save $$ for the cap"
  10. He won't be a Bill next year. We already have Oliver and Harrison Phillips is coming back next year. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him but not at the price he'll be looking for. He served his purpose and was a great teammate and with really good production this year, it will be missed but when you take into consideration that Oliver will be an even better version of himself and Harrison who was beginning to look really good right before his injury, the Bills will still be fielding a good DT rotation.
  11. I would imagine his initial thought for playing for Buffalo would be a negative. But I think once he came in to visit and really learned about what Buffalo was building, the camaraderie/brotherhood, the belief in the organization from all the players and personnel and Beane being a master salesman his tune would change for the right price. Hes a disruptive force and would be a great addition.
  12. That’s not what I was saying, even though that hadn’t been a chronic issue for Allen throughout the season but a documented one for Lamar. Allen has the arm strength to pull off sideline passes like few others can do, those issues you cited were mental.
  13. Lamar had an amazing regular season, their ground attack essentially setup all their deadly passes over the middle and it was a combination that most of the NFL wasn’t able to figure out. And he deserves to be the league MVP. With that said, I think the book is out on him now. Stop the RB from getting his yards consistently. Get outside contain on Lamar. Take away his up the middle passes and force him to throw to the outside. I know the Josh Allen haters don’t want to hear it and I know that Allen’s detractors in the media don’t see it but Allen’s upside is more exciting for me. Allen can hit the outside passes as good as anyone in the league. He just needs to continue to progress the way he did this past year. Continue to improve on his mechanics. Not be afraid to let his players make a play on the ball and to not be so cautious by overthrowing it. Continue to keep getting better at seeing the field post snap. And to continue getting more snaps and experience. Get better at releasing the ball quicker vs the blitz. Josh markedly improved on all those fronts except for allowing his receivers an opportunity to make a play on his he ball and getting the ball out against the blitz. So I am very bullish on Allen’s prospects, more so now than ever. He really was having a really good game up until the final quarter and even then he did make some incredible passes that only a handful of QBs could have made. I just don’t believe Lamar will be able to replicate what he did this season. I’ve always thought that it was unsustainable. I could be wrong and I certainly didn’t see him Doing what he did this past year.
  14. Great hire! Knows the system, knows what McD wants out of this defense, has had a proven track record as a DL coach and most importantly the trust of McD. Gonna fit in perfectly.
  15. I like Dupree or maybe even a Donte Fowler
  16. It's sort of like Mock draft 1.0. There are many variables that we have to see how they shake out before we can give a much better idea of the win loss estimations. But for now: I expect Devin Singletary to be used even more for receptions this year. I expect that the Bills will add another upgrade at the WR spot. I expect Knox to get better and become a good TE in this league and I expect Sweeney will replace Lee Smith. I also expect Tyler Kroft to be used more. I expect that the offensive line will have a second year together and will be better than they were this past year. I expect Brown and Beasley to have more familiarity with Josh Allen and that his level of efficiency with them will improve. I expect that the Bills will get another pass rusher and that the pass rush will be better than this past year. I expect the Bills defense to remain top 5. And most importantly, I expect Josh Allen making strides once again and that he will be around 61% completion with around 35 TD's between passes and runs. Bills go 11-5 next year and win the division.
  17. I think the Bills will strongly look to sign any one of these guys for this next upcoming year. Jadeveon Clowney, Bud Dupree, Everson Griffen, Dante Fowler, Shaquil Barrett, Matt Judon, Vic Beasley, Yannick Ngakoue and Robert Quinn. From my view I believe it's probable that one of these guys will be in a Bills uniform for 2020. The only one out of that group that I'm not super keen on is Griffen because of his age but the rest are either entering into their prime or in their prime.
  18. I've been saying this all year, reading in between the lines of the comments from McD and Beane, I absolutely believe the Bills believe they need another high end pass rusher. That may come in the form of a DE like a Clowney or Yannick or an outside LB such as a Dupree or Judon. I don't think it's a guarantee that they will get one because they will set a price for it and won't want to grossly overpay even though I do believe Beane will be willing to slightly overpay for one similar to what they did for Star L. I think they make a hard run at the available Pass rushing specialists this year in FA. I believe McD is craving for one and is in Beane's ear for him to try to get one.
  19. Yes he can. He's not great but he definitely improved on that front this past year. They don't need him to be great at it just capable and he wouldn't be put in situations in my estimations to where he would be doing that on the majority of snaps. He's a good pass rusher and my guess is that he would be rushing the passer or defending the run on most likely over 75% of the snaps he is in. Here are a couple articles on it. https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2017/7/29/16061910/matthew-judon-shows-off-coverage-abilities-on-day-two-of-training-camp-ravens https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2019/12/21/21025092/matthew-judon-is-carrying-the-torch-baltimore-ravens
  20. I think they do look for that "jackknife" sort of player who can stop the run, drop back in coverage and rush the passer. I was hoping for Matthew Judon from the Ravens but he will probably be franchise tagged.
  21. Yes, he should have made the catch and that is another play that if made probably changes the outcome of the game. I think what happened is that Brown's awareness of the boundaries was lacking. I think he thought he had a little more room than he did.
  22. Im guess I am reading it wrong. It looks like the cap hit
  23. Something that I had not noticed was that when you get past this next 2020 season Murphy for 2021 and 2022 becomes a very cheap option. He only then counts $1.75m against the cap both years. The Bills will not be in any sort of salary cap crunch in 2020, as a matter of good business they should look to front load any new contracts so that they have more room in the future. Based off of what the OP posted my view of Murphy changes a bit. I was much more sold on Shaq than Murphy but having Murphy who would serves as a good rotational player at $1.75m a year in 2021 and 2022 looks like a very attractive option to me.
