Is Hawes in the process of surpassing Knox as TE2??
LABILLBACKER replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would not shock me in the slightest that this is Dawson's last season as a Bill. Hawes is an amazing blocker and has shown so far to be a very reliable pass catcher. I'm not as caught up on angry run yac. Catch the dawn ball and Hawes does that. -
I know a lot of folks are thinking in terms of the present, but this very well might be our last go with this scheme. Brady was already interviewing for HC gigs this past season. He might have his pick of the litter this year with opportunities. There could be roughly 10 or so openings available (Tenn, Atl, Mia, Hou, Cle, Cin, Car, NYG, Ari, Bal). There's almost nothing for this team to add offensively (in any scheme) aside from a bonafide alpha talent at WR. It is a well oiled machine as long as Allen is at the helm and I will always be in favor of giving him top notch weapons.

If Only They Could Tackle..It's Not Just the Coaching
GunnerBill replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was also in all those meetings with Leslie as well and 3rd down D was not an issue. Nor was players looking confused pre-snap. I don't know what you are willfully not understanding but there are certain issues on defense that you can legitmately put at the door of the overall approach and say they are in part McDermott issues - run defense, inconsistent pass rush, DBs playing deep. And there are some that have only been an issue with this coordinator - 3rd down and pre-snap. I get it, the Head Coach ultimately is accountable for on field performance. But to say "simple as that" really does over simplify something with significant nuance. -
If and when Milano returns, just stick with the 4-3 and someone teach Dorian how to tackle. 3 linebackers should help Bosa's contain. Oliver & Walker are the future of our DT's. Bishop is still very raw by gradually improving every game. Baby steps... Rapp?...for a guy who launches himself like a "friendly fire" skud, he sure misses alot of tackles. Hopefully Hoecht & Hairston can have an impact before December? I'd hate to think of where this offense would be without Cook. I was wrong and he's worth every penny. Kincaid too is turning things around from last year. The Saints game execution wasn't perfect but this team reminds me of a cat playing with a mouse before ending it.

I honestly feel sorry for the Ravens. For years now they've been a strong competitor for the Bills so we sort of hoped they wouldn't do all that well, but what's going on with all these injuries is really devastating. They had the best roster in the league at the start of the season, and for 50 minutes in their first game they looked unstoppable. But they do have a tendency to let the brass ring slip away from them. Are they chokers? Let's just say they aren't great finishers. Lamar is a great QB but compared to Josh Allen he's just a yards machine, not a great leader. The Bills wouldn't be 4-0 right now if it weren't for Allen putting the game on his back and going and getting the win. Lamar Jackson would do that too if he could but clearly he can't, because he hasn't. This is why Allen and not Jackson is correctly the MVP. Anyway it's really hard to keep a strong roster together year after year, like the Bills and Chiefs have done. Are the Ravens going to hit a brick wall the way the Bills did after the Music City disaster, cutting Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith and Andre Reed because they couldn't afford them plus the good young players they had. Can they keep Derrick Henry and AJ Brown and Lamar Jackson and their defensive stars, year after year? This might have been the Ravens' best year and best chance at a SB, and now they're 1-3 with most of their good D players out.

This philosophy is so flawed and I can't believe people still stick with it. If you take the ball then don't score you've already given up a massive advantage and made it far more difficult to catch up to it. Even if you do score, you have to be up two scores at the half in order to keep that advantage. Lastly, no one is going to not run the ball just because you scored on the first drive of the game. On the flipside, if you defer and stop their first drive, you have given yourself a potential to be up 3 scores on that team. Even if you don't realize that potential and start slow, you have the cushion to play catch up with the double dip. It is absolutely insane to not defer the ball.

Thank you. I told him they are not and he is getting it fixed.

Half of our Dline investment isnt even playing. Oliver has been out. 2 guys on suspension. Not to mention Milano. Im disappointed in the Dline too but Oliver was a beast and Bosa fed off that as well. Nobodies dline is good when you start taking starters away. Yes, its really the biggest problem is all the missed tackles. Just look how many times we've had a b-line on the QB only to whiff and have the QB pick up a first down.

So far this year: Knox 4 catches / 39 yards / 0 TD -> $578,000 per catch Hawes 4 catches / 54 yards / 1 TD -> $70,000 per catch -
I do every day. It’ll never get better than these next few years. No time to pout…. Until McDs D gives up 68 points and we lose by 1 in the Super Bowl.

Where is Landon Jackson ???
Sierra Foothills replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
And Jackson Hawes, Deone Walker, TJ Sanders, and Dorian Strong are all hovering at around 100 snaps. This is shaping up as an excellent rookie class. I don't know if you're trolling or just lack perspective. Thank you. -

BillsFanForever19 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, I'm aware of that. But that's still what some posters were expecting. Calling him "Maxx Crosby esque" in threads like these: He was always considered a Raw prospect that would need some development. That's why he was available in the 3rd, at a position where if you're thought of as even potentially a low grade starter or difference making 3rd DE out of the gate, you're off the board by the time Day 2 starts. Is it slightly disappointing that he looks so "not ready for primetime" that he hasn't dressed yet? Yes. But this reality was always a lot more likely than he was going to be making an impact from Day 1. Especially on a team like ours. -

Phins Perspective on the Hill Injury
Buffalo716 replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Chiefs literally were in like 10 or 11 one score games last year and looked not great the majority We didn't look good on Sunday and we still won by double digits -
Yes. It was a defensive timeout. That's my understanding too... the timeout was because they only had 10 for the 2 point conversion. After the timeout, they prevented the 2 point conversion with a full complement of players. Speaking of. locker room speeches and the slow clap, this might be the greatest one of all time, albeit in cinematic history:

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
90sBills replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
I still have hope for Coleman. It’s still very early in his career. The injury last year set him back and he wasn’t quite as effective when he returned, especially in the playoffs. I just didn’t see any correlation with your point about Kincaid to this matter. Worthy clearly did more for KC’s offense last season than Coleman did for Buffalo’s offense. Let’s see how Coleman develops this season. If he breaks out no one would complain around here. Well…unless he drops a pass to lose a playoff game against KC…oh boy.
