Looking ahead the potential 2026 Schedule
Kirby Jackson replied to Nitro's topic in The Stadium Wall
We lost these for games but not because those teams are drastically different than who we thought they were. It’s not like the Commanders going from pick 2 to the NFC Championship game. New England improved. I still think we split with them which wasn’t a crazy thought. The Texans are a little easier than they’ve been and they’ve been good. At Houston was always a coin flip. Atlanta and Miami are bad teams that you lost to. When you looked at the schedule last year those should have been wins. They aren’t losses because those teams are better than we thought. The Bills played poorly. The schedule look ahead isn’t pointless imo. The majority of teams aren’t drastically different from what you expect. Next year’s schedule is significantly tougher. If you go through those 2 threads that @May Day 10 posted, people were spot on a year ago. Next year is a lot harder. That doesn’t mean that the Bills will have a worse record (or a better one). This year, the Bills had as easy of a path as they could possibly ask for with the exception of Burrow missing a couple more weeks. The seas parted for them and they peed down their leg. -
Had 61 receptions last season in Cleveland with 💩for QB’s, then only had 9 receptions in Buffalo? He was definitely misued by Brady!

We need Terry to pony up and fly these injury list guys to Europe each week for some non-FDA approved treatments.
-
there's a somewhat decent chance he can at least clear gaps for other WR's which he was doing quite a lot of for Olave and Shaheed

We're not that far away from rolling out Palmer, Coleman, and Shakir on Sunday just like it's opening night. For some reason there appears to be reluctance to sign Gabe to the active roster and then outside that it's Samuel (who never plays), Cooks (who got here today), and Shavers (who had as many yards as you and me last game)

That's where your screen name came from - nice. There are coaches that are amazing at the X's and O's diagnosing what happened, or even coming up with creative game plans, but get them in a booth or a sideline on game day and they just cannot process at the speed of the game; some to the point that they freeze up. They can look like geniuses if their game plan works as planned, but if they have to adapt on the fly... not-so-much. Like most things it is more of a sliding scale not some kind of binary switch, but Brady may lean more into that cerebral processor kind of coach than a coach that can make effective in-game adjustments. That is not to say he is bad at what he does, it may be that McD has to be more the CEO that ensures Brady leans into what he does well but has the staff around him to address the in-game changes quickly and more smoothly. If changes come strictly from Brady, he does seem a bit slow with adjustments, we have seen slow play calls making it to Allen and the offense where Allen is signaling for them to speed it up, confusion, and a few times where the team had to burn timeouts. Brady is also a coach that likes to be in the booth so that lends itself to those who need a bit of cushion between themselves and the action to process what they are seeing. On the flip side there are others that you cannot keep away from the sideline who want to be right in the thick of it who are a bit more intuitive and can tweak what their team is doing on the fly to try to counter what defenses are doing. Not a super original take - a brief search and found a similar take online in this Draft Kings article: https://dknetwork.draftkings.com/2022/11/04/the-four-types-of-nfl-coaches/

What does "Complimentary Football" mean in Bills Coachspeak?
sven233 replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
It means you have a lack of top talent and the only way you can win is with a ball control offense and hopefully limiting the other teams offensive snaps so your terrible defense doesn't have to be on the field as much. What it is, is a losers mentality. Screw complimentary football. Build an offense around the best player on the planet and blow teams off the field. Score 40 and make a couple stops on defense and you will be a much better team. If you can get out ahead of teams and make them 1 dimensional, you will actually make it much easier on your undersized defense. But we don't have a coach that wants to play that way. -
I'm inclined to believe that's because for all intents and purposes, McD is the DC right now.

This is a desperate signing for a desperate team but one worth trying in my opinion.

Beane is doing whatever he can to improve the roster... he feels like this is the move... I have no idea... should he have made a trade, acknowledge the failures... likely as long as we didnt get raked... But, trade, no trade, sign Cooks, Shaq, Jordan, Jordan, etc.. is just not enough to I get he is trying, but what really changes when your problem is trying to solve for a lack of talent because of poor FA overpay signings and poor drafting, but signing middling players to replace the middling players you already have... wheels on the bus... So, either Beane is replaced by someone who is much better at talent assessment, or Beane brings someone in who is better at talent assessment than him and allows them to do their job... I would prefer he was done... but we know that isnt happening likely, so the best that we can hope for is he self identifies his failure and brings in help.

That's a good observation. I didn't know that we ranked last for WRs using that point system. Though we do have to consider Diggs. We traded four picks to the Vikes to get Diggs if I recall correctly, including a #1. Does that up our score to 13 points or more? Even if it does, it's still under the 21-point average. As I see it now, we're both right. Beane undervalues WRs and mismanages the cap. He's not a great wideout talent evaluator either, overvaluing guys like Keon, Curtis Samuel, Kelvin Benjamin, etc. I have said in other posts that if you're lucky enough to have a unicorn QB, your two priorities as a GM ought to be getting him an elite OL bodyguard to protect him and capable WRs to throw to. Beane has an unimpressive record in this regard, sometimes giving us one or the other, but never both at the same time.

this board has hit rock bottom in terms of negativity during this particular "after-a-loss" down cycle I've scanned through a ton of posts looking for some new information and all I see is vitriol. the typical "fire everyone" usually dies down after a day or two, but we are what, six days out and it has only gotten worse might be time for some posters to turn in their "fan cards" as they don't seem to be able to take the heat in the kitchen
