The Ray Davis-backup running back discussion
I'm Spartacus replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't hear Davis' direct quote on this, but maybe he mentioned it. However, there is no way any player can just decide to drop weight without permission or consultation with the coaches and strength and conditioning staff. I'm sure every player has an off season nutritional and conditioning regimen dictated by the coaches with a plan in mind for the following season. -
he does make a good point! I will also say that I get how teams don’t want to ruin their investments and players don’t want to rush back and not be 100%. But the reality is for some players, if they don’t rush back and actually play, they are never going to find their footing in the league.

So, point is, we generated more tax revenue from the wealthy during all of those presidencies, nobody stopped working, and working class people shouldered less of the tax load. Rich folks gotta love it when regular folks argue for rich folks to get the biggest tax breaks.

Is Israel Committing Genocide In Gaza?
Wolfgang replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
How many children died so far? What % of those children were members of Hamas? What is the dollar value of rebuilding Gaza once all of the Palestinians have been removed from the territory? Are we still pretending there isn't a multi-trillion dollar incentive to NOT have a ceasefire? -

So guys we have someone who makes splash plays against the run and can occupy two blockers. It's been a while is that still legal? -
NOW is Bobby Babich's seat hot?
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. It will at least like an easier lift for the defense against the Patriots. At home, at night, and after a poor defensive performance, I expect the Bills to do what they almost always do in games like this--look a lot better on defense, and likely on offense too. Like I have said on here, the defense often looks almost the opposite of the previous week's defense in games after very poor performances and it seems clear that someone else is working VERY closely with the defense that weel, taking over, to get the ship upright. The Saints are better than people realize, or getting there. And Rattler could be a long term answer at QB. But I am more concerned with a QB like Mayes right now, as he has the big arm, legs, andthe dynamic playmaking ability of a future star QB. But on Sunday night, hoping for some defensive domination. Kind of expecting it maybe? I am not sure. But that won't mean the ship has been fixed. -
Wrong. Flutie had an earlier stint with NE 1987-1989 before going there later in his career.

I get killed for talking up Shanahan on this board for a few years now but I’ll say it again. He’s coached of the year and light years ahead of McDermott. He’s the coach that Josh deserves. Saleh is the type of d coordinator that Josh deserves to help get him the ball back. Before you laugh, what’s the score if McDermott is without the same amount of players and the level of players the Niners didn’t have tonight? Hell we can’t stop any team with our full compliment of guys. Shanahan is down his qb, multiple WRs, and his TE on offense and goes into LA and wins. I’m not even McDermott would beat the rams if we played them this week. Shanahan makes it look so easy. Meanwhile Josh has to thread the smallest of needles on every pass because we can’t scheme guys open. And his defense lets him down because we’ve given him Babbich instead of a guy like Saleh that knows what he’s doing.

NOW is Bobby Babich's seat hot?
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
? Hmm, well, not sure which team's young secondary you have been watching, but this is not a young, inexperienced starting secondary, except for Cole Bishop, in his second year. These are the facts: Tre White: 9th year in the NFL Taylor Rapp: 7th year Christan Benford: 4th year Taron Johnson: 8th year So, the only player of the five starters one can say is "inexperienced" is obviously Bishop, right? And I think Bishop is already playing better than Hamlin was last year. So, does the fact that the 'fact' you use to get to your position is naccurate make you reconsider your point? Think about this: what if the Bills' leaders are doing this, saying things, thinking things, that are simply untrue. What would be the result in general, and in this case, as they attempt to fix a poor defense? I think they would make awful decisions if they did things like this, consistently. They would be ignoring the actual problems, and instead focusing on things that are not relevant. And spinning their wheels, or worse, regressing. If you don't know what your actual problems are how can you fix them? -
Bills asking fans to wear all white for the Pats game on Sunday

Every time I see a white out football game my first thought is that they’re surrendering. -
They screwed the pooch big time on that one. Mac Jones threw for 342 yards 2 TDs & no picks against one of the better defenses in the league. If he continues this production for a few more games then Shanahan is going to have a big decision to make. I was actually worried when Mac Jones went to the Patriots. I’m not a big college football fan, but I love to see Alabama and other SEC powerhouses duke it out. While he didn’t have the physical tools, I thought his accuracy & mechanics were phenomenal. You saw these things break down a bit facing the much bigger & faster pro pass rushers. Sometimes we see players of all positions that were previously busts go to a new environment and succeed. And what better place for a quarterback than San Francisco? Real talk, if I was a struggling QB, I’d do everything in my power to work w/ Shanahan. Guy is a literal QB whisperer. Mac looked sharp, decisive, and in total command last night. Definitely worth keeping an eye on their situation.

Coming out party for the D-Line Sunday Night
I'm Spartacus replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
I disagree with you on this. They have a good run game. Heavy hitter in Stevenson and a elusive 2nd back (don't know his name). They have the old "thunder & lightning" running backs that could be trouble for the Bills, especially with their tackling and gap issues. -

No white flags though, the French have got a monopoly on those 😁 -
And that is despite the Jets being 0-11 on 3rd down. Which really demonstrates how bad the other three games were. 29th in the league last year, 25th this year through four games after never being worse than 19th in the seven seasons of this regime that preceded Babich as DC and being top 10 in five of those seven years. I don't like the design on third down either when I look at the all22. I'm not sure what the Bills general approach to play 3rd down defense is. I slightly think they are trying to do to much and be so "unpredictable" that they are sacrificing fundamentals for some designs that are either ill conceived or being really poorly executed (or maybe both). If I was in the defensive meeting rooms with Babich I'd be saying you have to simplify your 3rd down call sheet. Get back to some basic fundamentals, be strong at the sticks and then trigger and tackle.

It's like beating a dead horse. But the Bills inability to get off the field on 3rd down is destroying them. The Bills are 25th in the league in 3rd down conversions. When you factor in that they also lead the league in ToP you see how phenomenally bad that is. If they could just get off the field with any consistency we'd be looking at 4 blow out wins The offense is really protecting the defense with these long drives. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-third-down-conversion-pct
