When you are giving up 5.8 yards per carry rushing(dead last in the NFL), last in the NFL by half a yard(thats a big margin), combined with 3.2 yards before contact, you are not going to make teams one dimensional.

Where's the key? The key, man... I need the key! Green is... active HC? I'm assuming based on the fact there are 32. Red is... unemployed? Grey is... I thought retired, but Frazier is the DC of Seattle, so... WHAT IS GREY?!?!?! You're triggerin' me something fierce right now.

My view on the Bills Defensive Problems

No argument from me on either of those. Bills D is in flux right now I think and my hope is that with some more time to gel with new and young players and players coming back into the lineup, it will solidify down the back stretch of the season. Playoff D is essentially "Why does KC score 2 TDs more per game in the playoffs against us than in the regular season?" If they can solve that one problem, they will win Super Bowls. It shows the defense is in flux right now and it's still early in the season. Perhaps it may not be as good, but perhaps it will get better. I don't care what it looks like until we get into the playoffs honestly. If they play their 4 best games of the season in the playoffs, and we have to suffer thru some tough games in the regular season, I'll take it. -
I hate when people notice and comment on absurdities. It’s the worst! So much anger!

This shows the defense regressing amd we haven't seen anything to give us confidence playoff wise. -

during the regular season, sure. But come playoff time, as you pointed out earlier, our D gets exposed. This year, mediocre QBs (we haven't played a great one yet apart from Jackson) have beaten us, and middling RBs have run all over us. -

I don't think signing Tre was a horrible idea. I do agree, though, that Beane didn't do enough for the CB position overall and that we lack a certain level of athleticism. Some teams are faster than us. Some teams are more powerful than us. Some are both. Josh is our only elite player. It's not a great roster. -
Except when he hasn't developed any coaches. Babich could be, but......

Probably not much. A lot of good QBs have looked mediocre against the Bills D over the years. Let's not kid ourselves into thinking other divisions have been some kind of powerhouses over all those years. Perhaps we should say the same thing about the Eagles? -
I don't understand what you think a coaching tree is? your first paragraph makes it seem all about approach to football (that is what I think of with a coaching tree). Such as the Walsh/Holmgrem/Reid offense. your second paragraph makes it seem about people's leadership relationships and affinity toward one another. Who worked for whom. If Dabs or Brady are not leadership-influenced by McD as you suggest, where do you put them on the chart? Are they islands to themselves? Or do you put them where best fits their football philosophy? Eh, coaching tree is a nebulous concept. Therefore a discussion that tries to pigeon hole coaches and make judgements from a coaching tree is a futile exercise.

how much of this is because we play in the AFC East which was pretty barren over that time span. Also, our D collapses in the playoffs. Our "bend and don't break" structure does not work against top QBs, and this year does not work against mediocre QBs. -

The takes on this board when talking about the 2nd winningest team in the regular season in all of pro sports over the last 6+ years are absurd. In elimination games in the playoffs? Sure. I'm with you there. In regular season games? Who cares. They win at a rate unseen anywhere other than Kansas City. -
I don't disagree. but the ceiling is much higher. His skill set when healthy is exactly what the Bills are missing. Greenbay thought highly enough of him to give him a 1yr 13mil extension.

Fair points. But I guess even though I'm not a mathematician, I'm a game theorist at heart because I see the future as a bunch of probabilities with no certainty at all. With 32 teams in the league, the average NFL team has a 3% chance of winning a Lombardi. I think with McD and Josh (and Beane's flawed rosters), we have about a 10% chance each season. Better than most teams, not as good as KC's. That means we have a 65% chance of winning at least one trophy over the next ten years. But let's say the fans get their wish and McD is fired. I think there's only about a 10% chance that Pegs hires someone better than McD. Historically, teams usually get worse after firing a winning head coach. And Pegs track record at hiring coaches (just look at the Sabres) isn't good. Finally, most proven head coaches are either gainfully employed or retired. Hiring a coordinator to be our HC, or a college HC, is a real roll of the dice. I think our odds are better with McD.

It's not that the other teams don't score. It's when the other teams do score. You have to play big in big moments and the Bills defense simply doesn't do that enough. So this is my view on the Bills defensive problems..... -
Game week thread - Bills at Panthers (Game week preview on pg. 18)
boyst replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
the tried and true fanbase is Young ride or die, as well. Bryce Young is playing better and i hope the Panthers stick with him and don't pull the plug too early like other teams have done to watch Darnold, Mayfield, and others age with time. Maybe Georeg Seiffert was right all along - a rookie shouldn't start and QB's take time to develop. -

Seems that Christian Watson is available less often then Curtis Samuel, why pay for that ? -
That was a soul crushing loss. Nothing has topped that in my life. I wasn't around for the four SB losses. Losing a close SB would suck. But it wouldn't top 13 seconds. If the Bills play mistake free against the Panthers, they will win. If not, they can definitely lose. The Panthers are good enough to take advantage of mistakes.

Chris Jones should be the asking price any time the Chiefs call Beane looking to make a draft day trade from now on.
