Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky
starrymessenger replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
All I've seen is his 2023/2024 highlights and his senior bowl tape/coverage. If you have followed him at Kentucky you are certainly in a better position to opine on him. I understand why you would compare him to Jordan Philips because that's what he can look and play like. The tape suggests that. But that comp, while obvious, might be incomplete. I agree that his strength is in his upper body and that his lower body needs to get stronger. But that's a big part of what he needs to work on if he is going to play with a lower pad level. I don't know if you would call it job one but it's certainly very important. If he can't do that his chance of succeeding will be lessened. I am assuming without knowing for certain that a strength and conditioning program will enable him to get there. But maybe this is just a consequence of his unusual body type. I hope not. I'm glad you said he "rarely" occupied two blockers (instead of never) because even based on my limited exposure I've seen him do it against good competition. I can credit your statement though based on your greater familiarity with his play. But I will add that I've seen tape of him showing exceptional lateral mobility for a guy his size pursuing on sweeps and penetrating, not to pressure the quarterback, but to disrupt the run game. There was a senior bowl rep where a 280 pound guard was supposed to pull. He wound up in exactly the same spot after the snap as before. I think he can perhaps develop into the kind of player who has positional versatility along the line. No doubt for now he is a controversial, polarizing player. -
Iāve shared this before, but a friend is a quite well connected attorney in NY. Heās a downstate guy, went to St. Johnās for law school, and knows many of the players in NYS govt. Going back a few years, we talked about corruption amongst public servants in NY and when I asked his general feelings on what percentage had baggage/issues, his response was āAll of them.ā. I happen to believe there are significant issues, and I certainly trust his judgement. Itās the galling part of the weaponization of the govt from some of these cretins. If the stories are accurate, Letitia James knowingly falsified documents, knew they would be accessible, and some were quite egregiousāyet sheās so certain sheās above the law that she pushed on anyways. I think, sadly, we do go on in perpetuity, B. There are too many people reliant on NYS govt, and too many people profiting from the system and there is not nearly enough outrage to take back the state. My plan is six mos plus in Fla (eventually) and 5 mos plus in NY. The challenge is weāre a close family and spend a lot of time with our children, and that may be too long away. In that case, weāll suck it up.

Forrest has been in the league for years and done nothing. I think he's far worse than Hamlin base don what I've read and his production. Hancock is currently a CB they want to convert to safety, so not a real threat to push anyone this year. I missed Ownes, so good catch on that. Significant is a wild overstatement on a guy who's done absolutely nothing in 3 out of 4 NFL seasons, and nothing in 2 years.

He has WNY rootsā¦

Damn, was hoping for Steve.

Heās also a die hard white Sox fanā¦.

As I watched Sanders get up from this drill, I thought, man he's a big dude! Then Walker comes into frame and makes him look small.

https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/detroit-three-automakers-blast-trump-uk-trade-deal-2025-05-08/ Trump and his ***** press secretary canāt explain his plan because he doesnāt have one. Just a big cluster***** of policies that can be changed on a whim, based on whoever can enrich Trump the most. -

Ummm, we are going to be without 2 DLās for the first 6 weeks of the season. This is why weāre carrying a high number to camp. -

Wait, he was going to play lacrosse at Syracuse and then ended up playing football as a DT?! Was he going to play goalie or something...otherwise I'm having a hard time with the logistics of this

Fitz was better served as a placeholder QB before teams found their real franchise QB. He was fun to watch, but could be a turnover machine. Itās the exact opposite of what a Super Bowl contender needs out of a backup. Fitz could win games, but also lose them. I liked Fitz, but my unpopular belief has always been that Fitz didnāt play smart football in big moments. The guy didnāt know when to stop forcing the ball. Thatās not what I want from a backup. -
Darrick Forrest, a UDFA (Wande Owens), and a draft pick in Hancock. Seems like they have brought in safeties to me. Yeah, he is better than Hamlin. More upside, too. So, even if Bishop isn't ready to start, Forrest is still a good option.

Seriously though, the guy played a whopping 33 snaps last year. He's fodder.

I agree with you...Diggs in 2023 is the most talented individual player between the two WR rooms, even if thats not peak Diggs. No dispute from me...but its what "group" is better, and 2023 Diggs isn't so good that it elevates that lesser whole room to be better than the 5 collective guys we have today IMO. Now add in how his impact fell off in Brady's system, the overall drama and dark cloud he brought to the team, and the impact having him or not having him has on Josh's game and it really diminishes his "value' in how I would look at it. So for me IMHO, the 2025 group as a whole is a better unit, will get better results, and will give us the best chance to win a SB over the 2023 group if it was all here today exactly as it was in 2023.
