Surprises from Giants Pre-Season Game on 8/9/25
Sojourner replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seemed like the guy calling plays on the other team knew how to attack soft coverage. Most of the plays were quick hitters, defense didn’t get a chance. -
Let's get the Epstein files rolling! If it includes Trump, so be it. And these guys too.

lol so he was wrong then shifted to reasoning why he was wrong and explained the reasoning he feels they’re doing what they did? Yikes. Talk about jumping at shadows man. -

It’s just one pre season game so my pronouncement may have been a little premature I based that on the horrendous angle he took on the Giants receiver who had huge YAC because Hamlin took the wrong angle and then got blown by. When Dane Jackson got torched on the TD, Damar looked like he had cement in his shoes as he jogged to the sideline watching that sweet TD toss by Dart. IDK what his responsibility was on that play but he wasn’t close to providing help. He did have some good run fits though -
QB Comparisons to Josh, QB's from the Past and or the Present ?
Sojourner replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
A few Elway’s, I see it. A few Favre’s, definitely. Cam Newton? Can’t disagree about the same willingness to run through or over a defender like Cam did. But honestly, @MJS said it best… There is no comparison. Never seen a QB like The Big Blue Winter Soldier. -

I like Joe, but he also has some weird takes sometimes. The man was a Tremaine Edmunds disciple lol -

Bills only allowed like 79 yards rushing, but Giants qbs weren't pressured really at all with zero sacks. -
Biggest concern this year is still 3rd down defence. Babich has the horses now as Beane invested heavily in the draft- But can he get it done? If it were up to me he should have be been fired after last season, but I think his seat is going to be warm with an experienced coordinator in Nielsen behind him

No I haven't met him. Do you dislike any athlete? Have you met them ? Have you not heard the reports that gms said it was the worst interview that they ever had? And the video of himself going into the stadium like he's LeBron James last night? If you like that arrogant, self centred cockiness, you do you. And seriously, no judgement. But not me. You also said "no one really knows" if he's a jerk or not. But I can tell you He didn't drop to the 5th round because of talent. The guy clearly has massive character flaws -
There we were a few clean pass rush wins, the passes on those plays unfortunately just got off too quickly for the wins to matter. Here's 3 quick individual wins from Sanders and Walker: Bosa had a couple early on as well. My concern has been and continues to be coverage. Pass rush wins don't matter if the QB finds an open man within 2 seconds.

At least one of the kids was in a harness I noticed. That's what made me pay more attention to see if he had one on in any of the scenes. All it takes is some loose gravel, or a tie rod breaking, to have the car go out of control and him start bouncing around inside of it.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

I literally said I know what bosa is. We all do. and I also said hopefully walker, sanders, Hancock and strong continue to improve so they can help. I liked seeing Hancock today. He looked like he belonged and seemed in position over and over. Walker is going to have a big role in pass rush situations. They are going to scheme his abilities into some big plays. Sanders looks like he belonged every snap. preseason is about man to to man or one on one football, going out there and beating the guy in front of you without a plan other than being a better athlete. My hope for the day was that a number of these guys would look like they belong. IMO some did and some didn’t. I think ogunjobi, hoecht and Forrest were bad signings and they looked pretty pedestrian on the field today. When the real games start and they are given a role or if they are I am sure they will scheme them into what they do best. Today, I didn’t see any of those guys do anything that showed they have the ability to make plays that will help the team and demand they get snaps. The rookies I mentioned imo did, they look like guys who will help. and as far as bosa goes I believe he is a declining player with major injury concerns who commits a lot of penalties. I don’t expect much from him. I don’t like the free agent class on defense and have not from day one. I hope I am wrong because if I am not this team is going to end up around 11-6 and the 3 or 4 seed meaning they have to go to KC and Baltimore each just to get to the Super Bowl. -
Just seems like McDermott prefers his pass rushers to be conservative and always stay in their lane. Sometimes you gotta turn guys loose especially on 3rd down. Phillips was one of the few guys McDermott gave a longer leash to just get after the QB.

I really like McD. He reminds me of Tom Landry. It took Landry 12 years with the cowboys before he won the Super Bowl. He had a painful steak of losing big games in the playoffs before he finally won it all.

I didn’t catch any of the game today. Is this first teams we’re talking because I thought the giants had one of the worst O-lines in the league. This would be concerning even if for only a drive or two. -
No mention of Bosa, Sanders and Walker. Not surprised. Care to elaborate on what you saw from them?
-
Well the problem of getting off the field on 3rd down would clear up with some pressure. Look, I know it's preseason. I don't expect stunts, overloads, or DBs blitzing off the edge. But the Giants dropped back 51 (!) times, you would think that just once one of our guys could beat his man clean.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

You're right that there's no evidence that Codrington will ever have more production as a cornerback than Shenault as a receiver but Shenault was never a punt returner in the NFL or in college whereas Codrington was among the NFL leaders last year. So Shenault has to prove he can handle those responsibilities in order to win that competition. -

Keonta Jenkins is a 211 lb linebacker. I know the Bills tend to go for lighter, faster linebackers, but 211 lbs is a bit extreme even for them. Both of the Bills' starting linebackers, Milano and Bernard, have had some injury issues as lighter linebackers. If Jenkins makes the team (unlikely) or the PS, will the Bills try to get him to add some muscle? The alternative might be to see if he can convert to something of a hybrid DB/LB. -
I'm 75, and I've been a Bills fan since 1963, so my time to see the Bills win a Lombardi is much more limited than most fans. I agree with everything you wrote, and if the Bills never win a Lombardi in my lifetime, it won't change the fact that McDermott's tenure as HC has been the best era of Bills football ever. Nothing is guaranteed in life, no matter how much someone wants something. Instead of being in perpetual angst about the Bills' lack of SB wins, some Bills fans need to apply the idea that "life is a journey, not a destination" to their fandom and enjoy the ride. It's the best one Bills have ever had so far. The last time I looked, Ben Johnson has won as many NFL games as a HC as you and I and the rest of the TSW members.

I dont think mcdermott is a bad coach. But i also dont think he is that great. how many of those wins are josh masking poor drafts and bad coaching? he has shown the ability to get out coached by the same dude over and over again. and for a guy who is always preaching about fundamentals and discipline. His defense lacks those things. Or they are sticking to scheme soo well that other teams clown them. hearing players after the last of the chiefs losses in the playoffs say they never saw the chiefs doing the things they did on tape before. But was shown on everynetwork of them doing those exact things all year says they arent prepared or coached well. like i said i dont think mcdermott sucks. But he isnt that good either. josh is saving a bunch of people jobs
