Also, they generated very little pressure on Mills. He was able to stand in the pocket and deliver, for most of the night, outside of a couple blitzes. I agree about the first half as well, like why the hell are you giving up 7 points on a 2 min drive to backup QB. As far as the offense goes, I'm now convinced that Brady has awful passing concepts. He has one man beater concept he runs. Mesh. And he ran it back to back on the last 2 plays of the game. That combined with the talent level of the WRs, you get the Bills current passing scheme. It's a mess.

Frankly, in hindsight we probably should have paid Edmunds. We are noticeably worse vs. passes to the middle of the field since he left. Bernard had a great 2023 but has struggled since. -
A Few Thoughts about the Texans Game - Community Edition
TheBrownBear replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Houston's defensive line dominated the game (they didn't really blitz) and our receivers couldn't get open quick enough. That was the story of the game. Still, we most likely win if we don't turn it over 3 times. -
There is a divide amongst the Bills fanbase. One side has PTSD from the 2000s drought. They are petrified about making a change, because they are worried about going back to being a totally irrelevant and joke of a franchise. So they would prefer keeping the status quo, because Beane/McDermott means Buffalo should at least be in the playoffs and competitive most years. The other side has PTSD from the 90s Super Bowl teams. They are petrified about NOT making a change, because they are worried we are going to waste another golden era (Hall of Fame roster vs. Hall of Fame QB) without hoisting a Lombardi. They would rather take the chance of things getting worse and going backwards, as opposed to being comfortable with just being good.

Allen had guys in his face. He had to rush that pass. -

There's no digging deep or any need to go to the film room; it's right there on your TV screen every week if you're paying attention. He's nothing like Edmunds. -

Dawkins has checked out and has become a personality more or less. He’s a false start and holding penalty waiting to happen. The O -line coaches know he’s outlived his usefulness but with all the needs on this team a reliable left tackle is as likely as getting another franchise QB.with the cap situation. The most telling visual last night was seeing him smiling and laughing it up with the Houston edge rusher who used him like a turnstile and after almost getting Josh killed , showing no disappointment. He is a liability and against a playoff edge rusher on the road, it’s going to be ugly.

Allen missed a wide open Knox on the final play
ShakAttack replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I blame it on Gabe Davis and his second foot. If he catches that pass in bounds, suddenly you have one of the most unbelievable and spectacular game winning drives in Josh Allen’s career, and this entire narrative never happens… Least not this week. Ugh… seriously though, when I think about this game, I flash back to that one play. That was the opportunity right there. As Dawkins said afterwards “game of inches” -
I think replace both coordinators and McClappy with an OC minded coach with a great DC like a Saleh

Allen missed a wide open Knox on the final play
somnus00 replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen isn't perfect. He'll miss things from time to time. But it's "easy" to see a wide open Knox when you have the benefit of a camera 30ft in the air and you don't have 4 300 lb men running free at you. I couldn't see which DT stunted to that side, but he was literally between Josh and Knox when Josh looked that way. I doubt he could see him. -
Agree. We were -2 for turnovers, Josh sacked 8 times, and we still could have won in the end. A couple more plays is all we needed, and the missed PAT ended up being huge.

This feels like the Edmunds conversation, except we never paid him. “You just don’t see what he’s doing out there” You make fair points, but you should feel a guy making the money he’s set to make, week in/week out. It shouldn’t be where we have to dig deeper to see his true value on a Defense that is absolutely terrible. I feel Cole Bishop out there. I felt Bosa out there before his hand injury, and even with it, he’s the only guy even getting close to the QB right now. Rousseau is in this Edmunds category where we need to dissect the tape to see any impact he’s having. We’re paying Rousseau and Bosa essentially combined what Danielle Hunter is making on his extension. Maybe we just need one Danielle Hunter and not two B level guys. Seems like this example can be applied all over our roster. -

Dawkins giving up on blocks
Not at the table Karlos replied to Uncle Monkeyhead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Have a good blocking TE and a reserve lineman that has played blocking TE a bunch in the past. You’d think it would be common sense to put them in to help a line that is being abused. Nope. -
Well that's it for me. I'm heading to the shower.

I agree. For all those saying McD just wants to run the ball, he wants balance. He has said in his pressers that you need a good passing game AND a good running game. That's what keeps defenses honest. Without a good passing game, defenses key on the run, and vice versa. The worst thing that could have happened to the Bills was Allen becoming the MVP with a bunch of no names at WR. That gave McD permission to ride that wave and ignore the offense again in favor of the defense. Last year the Bills made it to the AFCCG with the no name WRs...but also a once again banged up defense... because the defensive players can't make it through a whole season. The biggest problems this season are the Coordinators. McD has already taken over defensive play calling and that has helped. The offense is all on Brady, who is clueless. He is incapable of adjusting during games and yesterday it got his QB killed. I wonder, even if the Bills had a true number 1 receiver, could Brady even handle him to be effective in his offense? None of us are crazy about Keon, but has Brady even tried him in the slot where he was most effective in college? Brady has only one answer for everything...and scheming of any kind does not seem to be involved.

I know it's cool to hate McDermott right now, but I promise you he did not watch our offense hang 40 points in a win and pull Brady aside to chastise him for scoring too much lol. Houston is just a lot better defensively than Tampa is and both of our tackles seemed to be playing hurt.
