Yeah and they also were paralleling two under recruited kids Who both wound up at small colleges.. even North Dakota is smaller than Wyoming FCS to FBS And their overall athleticism and ability to create outside pocket Not to mention that Lance was billed as a 6'3 230 lb modern day quarterback.. He really does seem to have a lot of talent but I think playing quarterback at the FCS level is almost too much to overcome at the NFL now Even Joe flacco was probably close to 20 years ago and he was the prototype pocket passer that the NFL looked for Trey Lance was a projection

How many wins do the Bills get without Josh?
FireChans replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, I’m just saying the WRs sucked in 2018 and thus didn’t have a ton of yards and that the WRs sucked in 2024 and thus didn’t have a ton of yards. the 2024 group can be better and still suck. I’ll just ask again if you think that Stroud does better on the 2020 or 2024 team. You said “you can easily say,” but I want to hear what YOU say. Because your line about easy pass outlets is very funny when we had arguably best WR1 in the NFL and an All Pro slot WR in 2020. And a defense that had Hyde, Poyer, Tre, a healthy Milano etc etc etc. Imo, 2020 WR’s and defense much better than 2024. Like inarguably widely superior 2024 has a better RB room, arguably the least valuable position outside of STs and a better OL. TE’s is Dawson Knox both ways and a slot TE who wouldn’t be on the field with Beasley much anyway so he’s near irrelevant. So the answer is 2020 by a MILE for me. -
I often wondered about one aspect of play calling on pass plays. Let's say there are 3 WRs. The OC wants to switch the 1st, 2nd 3rd reads to the 3rd read becoming the 1st because of a trend he is seeing. Is that in the play call or does he tell the QB that in the headset. How do the WRs get that info?

Are Fan Expectations Too High for Keon Coleman?
BADOLBILZ replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
JAGfest? Tyreek has been first team all pro 5 times. Godwin was an All Pro and 4 time 1,000+ yard receiver. Allen Robinson lead the NFL in receiving yards with 1400 one year and had another where he put up 102 rec 1250 yards Brandin Cooks has six 1,000 yard seasons.........for reference......no Buffalo Bill draftee has ever had more than 4. Robert Woods was a WR1 level producer for 3 straight seasons in LA before injuries reduced him at age 28. Pittman is a legit WR1 now with a 109 catch season on his ledger. So 1/4 of that still unnecessarily narrow statistical grouping have been legit NFL stars including All Pro's........and 3 more have put up 1,000 yard seasons. We all want our second round pick to become a HoF'er.......but if just the data suggests that he has a better than 1/3 chance of being a 1,000 yard receiver........and more like 50% if he stays off drugs, doesn't get seriously injured or have serious legal issues.........that's not a bad % for the 8th receiver taken in a draft. -

My point that in Kerr's era, Green doesn't get in. The bar is lower. Green played on a dynasty, that's the most powerful item on his CV. Solid defender. But the Warriors win all those rings with a lesser defender in his spot. As for a facilitator, if he had his 5.6 assists, 2.3 TOs, and 8.9 points on the Knicks, Pelicans, Jazz, etc, he's not a HOFer. If almost 40% of the shots your opponent is taking are 3's, there's really not much defense to be played. OKC was trounced in game 6 not because of a suffocating Indy Defense. It's because they made 27% of their 30 3 pointers. That 91 points despite 30 3 point shots. Unwatchable--how can you conclude you are watching a much higher skill level?? Teams take twice as many 3 pointer than they did even 17-18 years ago--but they are no better at it. Transition game is cross half court, pull up and launch a 3. So Offensive rebounds are down. There's not the post up inside game anymore, and if guys drive to the basket, then offense do so with impunity as there is little physical enforcement in the lane--fouls called are down 35% from the Celts/Lakers heyday (yet the flops and whining for calls are at an all time high). All this science and training and youth game playing...and you still have a 5 team division without a winning record. An higher overall skill level of player distributed around the league with mostly similar budgets, this should not happen. 5 teams with less than 25 wins. In 1985, there was 1. 1995 there were 4. Given an overall significant increase in size, speed and skill, shouldn't the wins be more evenly distributed, i.e. fewer awful teams? All boats lifted? -
Ah, got it. I recall divided opinion about Lance, not exactly like Allen, but similar boom-or-bust potential. That's what you're saying. My feeling is that a guy like Lance might hold on in the same way Tyrod has held on. Keep working and playing, getting buy on some special talent, and then see how far he develops. Tyrod was similar to Smith in that way, but didn't go as far as Smith. I think a Smith-like late career blossoming is possible with Lance.

Ahh yes, I think you're right. There was a meme of it somewhere at one point

When you say "strike," I assume you mean missile launches, unless they still have some cells inside Iraq that could somehow penetrate US defenses. I honestly believe one of the reasons for the dramatic decrease in Iranian ballistic missile launches against Israel is because they are keeping a number in reserve for potential use against US forces in the region. If they do that, we will have two carriers in place by Sunday, and a host of incredibly capable Air Force assets, and I would unleash that capability within an hour, and completely eliminate whatever military they have left, along with the nuc facilities. No talk.

Are you really trying to say that the 2024 and 2025 WRs are as bad as the 2018 WRs were? 2018 WRs (in order of rec yds): Zay Jones, Robert Foster, Kelvin Benjamin, Isaiah McKenzie, Andre Holmes, Deonte Thompson, RayRay McCloud. 2024 WRs (in order of rec yds): Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, Amari Cooper, Curtis Samuel, Tyrell Shavers, KJ Hamler, MVS. 2025 WRs: Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Josh Palmer, Curtis Samuel, Elijah Moore, Laviska Shenault, Tyrell Shavers, Jalen Virgil, KJ Hamler, Kaden Prather. And maybe I overstated my case regarding spending assets on WRs. I didn't mean we don't need any good receivers (as you made it sound), I meant more that the team now doesn't think that paying a top WR big money is a good use of their assets. That is philosophy in itself, in regards to team building. Do we spend a ton of money on a couple of players, say a stud WR and TE, or two top WRs, or whatever, and let the rest of the weapons suffer a bit because we don't have as much money to go around? Or do we try to have as many solid/very good (not elite) weapons for Josh to distribute the ball too? Two different ways to skin a cat. One team could have 2-3 elite players and then 1 or 2 very good players, but then have say 5 average players at other spots, while another team could have 10 very good players (no elites, but no weak links). And I agree (as I said) that some of last year was about problems in the WR room (injuries, Keon being a rookie, Amari adjusting to a new team mid-season, etc.), as to say the RBs getting so many targets, etc...but, it also actually worked. So, yes, at times last year it was a bit about playing into our strengths, away from our weaknesses. But, as far as the change in philosophy, do you not remember McDermott getting on both Daboll and Dorsey for throwing the ball too much/not being balanced enough? That balance is what McD had been looking for for a long time. That was the type of team that he and Beane wanted to build. Also remember in 2020/2021, defenses started playing teams like Buffalo and KC differently. Mover cover zero, etc. to try and stop these juggernaut offenses. So, both teams had to adapt as well. You can see it in our point totals that I posted. From 2020 to 2023, we went from 31.3 points/game to 28.4, to 28.4, to 26.5. What we had been doing wasn't working as well as it used to. Some of that was obviously moving on from Beasley and Diggs declining, but a lot of it had to do with how the NFL was changing. How many more running focused teams were there in 2024 as opposed to 2020/2021? Also, when we had that smaller, more finesse lineup, they didn't always fare as well in the cold weather or against stronger, tougher teams. The cold weather was no longer an advantage for us. The Bills made a concerted effort to get bigger and stronger, to use the running game and RBs more, and finally to last year with the everyone eats. It was definitely a gradual, purposeful change in philosophy by the team, not just that we didn't have a true #1 WR or out of desperation because our receivers sucked. And it looks like it worked, with 2024 being our best season (offensively and team-wise) since 2020. As to say inserting Stroud into either the 2020 or 2024 rosters, you could just as easily say that Stroud would fare better with the 2024 roster because he wouldn't be asked to do as much. He could lean on the running game. He would have a short passing game and outlets, so he didn't have to hold on to the ball too long. You wouldn't be asking him to go toe-to-toe in passing with a 2020 Mahomes/KC (like Josh had too in 2020). Much easier to ask Stroud to go for 3,731 passing yards and 28 passing TDs than to ask him to match 4,544 yards and 37 passing TDs (Josh's stats in 2020 and 2024 with almost the exact same overall team results). And our receivers might not be as good as in 2020, but I would venture to say that our offensive line, RBs, and TEs are all significantly better than in 2020. It seems you are just too focused on the WR room only, imo. Here are the difference in offensive players other than WRs (and guys still holding their position from 2020, like Dawkins and Knox): 2020: Singletary, Moss, A. Williams, Tyler Kroft, Lee Smith, Ike Boettger, Mitch Morse, Feliciano/Winters, Darryl Williams 2025: Cook, Davis, Johnson, Kincaid, Davidson/Hawes, Torrence, McGovern, Edwards, Spence Brown -
I'm talking about tre lance was compared to Josh Allen and he had a lot of expectations Geno Smith was a second round pick who played a lot his first two years not great.. and then did bust his ass on the bench for 6 years till he got his next chance He also was known as a terrific thrower of the football coming out of college he just had a long learning curve

I think Draymond Green is a borderline Hall of famer You hit on all the good points... True defensive Stalwart But the only pure defensive guy in the Hall of Fame recently in my mind is Ben Wallace.. and Draymond is not on Ben Wallace's level Ben Wallace might be the best defense if player in the last 30 years But I do agree he's on the borderline if you even had a little bit more offensive variety he probably be a lock.. now I think he's probably looking at towing the line for years -
I don't know if that's true. Bills passed on him to take EJ, and Smith fell to #39 in the draft. I don't recall many people thinking he was a monster. Maybe Jets fans, because they can talk themselves into almost anything, but most Bills fans were lukewarm at best about Manuel and glad the Bills didn't take Smith. .

It breaks my heart. I used to follow Xavier basketball almost like the Bills. I’d make an annual trip to Cincinnati, travel to games anywhere close and try to get to their city in the NCAA tournament. Those were some awesome times! Now I have no idea who’s on the roster, what theirs skills are, where they came from or how many years of eligibility they have left. Eligibility actually means very little, since it’s a series of one year contracts. Every year is like a new pickup game at the YMCA. Please don’t get me wrong, I think the players should be paid and they should have mobility. I just don’t happen to like the resulting product nearly as much. They desperately need some guardrails on this mess. BTW - I spent a week at UNC hoops camp in Chapel Hill every summer for at least 4 years when the kids were young. Awesome times! -
