Bishop would be fine if he could stay healthy but he can't and that's a problem. Coleman will be fine. We all knew he wasn't drafted to be a superstar. He'll give you 2nd rounder production for sure. I actually like Carter but I just think we flat out upgraded the position. Rounds 4-7 are always a crapshot. SVPG is a guy I loved but him not being healthy this summer may have ended his chance at ever contributing.

I agree that it needs to happen, but I’d wait until after the last game. Two reasons. One, it’s appropriate to give him every chance to make the team. Two, we need him to take snaps in the last preseason game. I wouldn’t worry about distraction. There’s 15 days between the last preseason game and the game against the Ravens. What’s an extra 5 or 6 days versus giving him another opportunity?

I still expect the Bills to win the AFC East easily, and to be a serious contender for the Super Bowl. That hasn't changed. But Free Agency and the Draft always bring a lot of hype. Sometimes it's justified. A lot of times it turns out to be B.S. The talk all offseason has been about the Bills defense making a big jump, and that being the piece that finally lands us the Lombardi trophy. And unfortunately, the last two preseason games has really put a damper on much of the the improvement talk. We spent a bunch of draft capital on the D-Line. For the most part, they don't look ready to play yet. Maybe that changes, but defensive linemen have a history of developing very slowly on this team. Joey Bosa can't stay healthy and has already been injured since joining the team. Our other free agent adds are suspended for six weeks. This pass rush is pretty much back to relying on Groot, Oliver, Jones and Epenesa. Tre White was one of the stories of training camp. But our only look at him this preseason was very underwhelming. He looks slow, and was getting picked on by the Giants passing game. With the time/reps Maxwell Hairston is missing, his rookie season might end up being a wash. Which leaves this unit about the same as last year when we had Benford, Johnson and Douglas. The plan at safety seemed to be hoping Cole Bishop developed. He's been hurt, and was terrible in his first appearance last night. Which pretty much brings us back to Rapp and Hamlin. All these moves, and the Defense looks almost identical to 2024. That doesn't necessarily mean we can't go all the way. But we know how the story has ended the last 4-5 years.

He's going to be attacked by opposing defenses in the pass game all year this season if he's on the field. It may help a bit with Bernard and Milano on the field to clog up the middle but unless Bishop gets going and Rapp stays healthy, our safeties are going to get abused all season

I think the whole trading within your conference thing is overblown. How often does something like that really come back to bite a team? Every team has good players. Yea, the Bengals make us stronger, but Ideally they'd expect to get stronger from the trade too.

I think the scheme can dictate the players aggressiveness.

It is preseason though. Maybe they don’t want to show their hand and come the season unleash an attack style defense with more man coverage when needed. I would love to see more scheme versatility.

Of course they're tuff enuff. They wrestle lions and grizzly bears!

I watch preseason football to see how the 2nd-4th stringers are playing. It would help if the announcers and video crew would put up some graphics between plays of who the hell is playing. I hate having to try to see jersey numbers and nameplates (especially on the OL and DL) as to who is on the field.

Primarily due to 17. The defense has been the weak point the past few years. Crazy that "offensive-minded" Andy Reid has found a way to make his defense a strength, while "defensive-minded" McDermott has gone backwards.

Which I do give McDermott props for in the playoffs last year. I will say if they gave Henry the ball 40 times, it may have been a different outcome.

Yeah we drafted a player and kept him on the bench most of last season for Hamlins below average. Exactly what I’m talking about.
