Bills asking fans to wear all white for the Pats game on Sunday
brianthomas replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
if you do wear these, wear brand new ones. The old ones you own likely wont be as white 🤣 -
Sauce Gardner is crying, but does he have a point?
thenorthremembers replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
He both does and doesnt have a point. His point that he isnt allowed to hold isnt valid, because he shouldnt be allowed to hold. That said, why is not ok for Sauce and seemingly ok for the Ravens and Chiefs? -
Game week thread - Pats at Bills SNF

Ahhh, beating George Seifert's record. I always remember George Seifert because as a kid I was a huge Cornell football fan. Seifert was fired as coach after two years with a record of 3-15. Who knew he would go on to such great things at the NFL level? -

He does have a point. But you can't really see it if he wears a hat. -
Donald Trump: The homegrowns are next

Using the potentially deceptively edited video that outraged HomeStime, you might have just sent: Lm suc a jo you a. Needing any more than that apparently only scratches a conspiracy itch! -
Its nothing radical, but has been stuff many fans have been clamoring for. Mainly bringing extra guys on the pass rush and playing more man. We have had 5 on the LoS and 3 LBs on the field more than anytime that I can remember in the McD era. We will still drop out into coverage at times and sometimes drop a traditional rusher (DE/DT) and replace them with a non-traditional rusher (DB/LB). We saw some of this late in the season last year. In that case it worked cause it was more of a wrinkle that teams didnt expect. But by the chiefs game we were getting hit with mesh and we didnt know how to deal with that in man coverage. This year teams seem to be expecting it more and I think thats why BAL is quick snapping the ball on us (though they do that with everyone a bit) and we are seeing more mesh concepts. In the run game it can be tricky for a DE/DL that has coverage responsibilities if its a pass. They need to process run to pass different than when they are rushing. That difference can affect how they are fitting gaps. You could say the same thing for LB/DBs that are also reading run to pass but now their pass responsibilities are to rush. Then lastly we dont know who's better at doing these multiple things so i think we still have yet to optimize the players that will do fill those roles (though Hoecht will be all over Im sure based on his LAR tape). I dont think we master a new defensive approach in a year but if we can settle in and be better at what we have done in the past (crazy post snap coverage spins while rushing 4) then we can be an above average defense. But for now with injuries and not knowing whos best for what role we seem to struggle at times. hope that reveals my thoughts a bit more.

This is, and always has been. Sorry Sauce. -
Sauce Gardner is crying, but does he have a point?
skibum replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the refs bend the rules more on the reputation of the players themselves, rather than on the quality of their team. Especially true when it comes to QBs, CBs, and OTs. Sauce has caught the attention of refs because he's a grabber, not because his team sucks out loud. -
So what you’re saying is essentially, nothing to see or talk about here and we should resume MVP discussions in late November. I’m ok with that, not sure others want to stop talking about the MVP on a fan message board.

NOW is Bobby Babich's seat hot?
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am guessing McD will just take back play calling duties here if they have some more poor showings. But I think they are giving BB a long leash. -
You gotta win who you play to put yourself in the playoffs and get as good of a seed as possible. The Bills can't win playoff games in September/October, I've checked and that's impossible. The Bills can however play a lot of younger defensive players like they are (with Cole, Walker and Sanders all getting hefty playing time and even Strong and Solomon getting snaps) so that by the time January rolls around these guys have a lot of experience under their belt. I'm very nervous about this defense but I'm also not going to say the regular season doesn't matter either.

It is the style of D...it is going to give up rushing yards. Those tend to more predominantly impact me mentally when I watch the games. Run after Run beats me down psychologically. This tends to give me negative emotions towards the D. I know that I cannot give a response to this post removing emotions.

Sauce Gardner is crying, but does he have a point?
TheFunPolice replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only solution is to trade him to the Bills to test this theory. Is there a better Buffalo CB name than "Sauce"? -
Well, I think if you read what I wrote I said I do not think it is hot... but I think it should be... the reason would be several fold, 1, performance no one can look at this defense and believe it is acceptable... again, gashed by the run, poor tackling 3rd and longs etc... 2. Scheme, I think McD has a lot to do with scheme and I think the personnel needs to be looked at by an exceptional defensive mind whose existence for the past several years has been focused on defense in a changing league, not a 2nd yr out of his league Dco and a head coach who has been focusing on head coaching since the 2000 teens... Bottom line defense needs to improve, has needed to improve for years... Babich is not improving the defense... most would say not even really changing it... Your point about personel is a very good one... leads me to a chicken and egg thing... because I do not think we have drafted well, nor signed quality FA for the money we have spent... whose fault is this... could very well be that Beane and McD cant pick talent... could be... could be Babich isnt getting the best out of them... could be both, probably a combination... but the lack of improvement from Rousseau to straight out regression to me move to coaching... like the regression of Ed Oliver last year... he did play a good game this year lets hope that continues... the regression of Douglas last year... I might even have a little gnat in my thoughts wondering if Benford has seen a regression.... lets see... these things move to coaching to me... lack of tackling and proper angles is killing is... this moves to coaching to me... so the bottom line like anything, its never just 1 thing there is blame to go around... but Babich to me is not making the best out of his talent, they do not seem prepared to play and they are performing like the same ol same ol.... with respect to the rookies... Jackson, Sanders.... is it them... is it how they are being coached, do we have them in a position to be successful... me personally, I think its their own limitations... Hairston, not sure why we are mentioning him... he had an injury cant really put that on Mc D Beane or Babich... Bottom line, same problems for years... Babich has not made a meaningful change in our performance and sometimes assistants go because of the sins of their bosses.... like you said, but we need more, we need a true pro in here that can improve this defense because Babich isnt...

Ravens seem like they are done. Unfortunately that means they get a top 15 draft pick next year. Wonder if they decide this is the time to move on from Harbaugh??? No chance of that....Brown, Milano, Oliver, Bass, and Hairston have all missed games and were starters or presumed starters. The starting 5 OL started every game last year. That streak is already over. Shakir is still playing injured.

The histrionics about DEI and the possibility of the hiring of unqualified minorities is hard to take seriously form an administration that hand picked Kash Patel, Pete Hegseth, RFK Jr and Dr Oz to positions of power. Apparently no one really cares about the complete lack of merit when its the result of good old fashioned cronyism. I'm supposed to stay up at night worrying about the possibility of black lesbian pilots and surgeons rising to the top of the most heavily regulated professions in the nation when I live in a reality where a talk show host leads the greatest military the world has ever known?

Sauce Gardner is crying, but does he have a point?
Livinginthepast replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Eagles are already showing this trend in the positive this season after becoming champs. They are getting all the iffy calls their way and not being called on cheating. And Sauce is right bad teams get calls from the refs that are assumption calls. The officials just assume that a crap team just cant do anything positive without cheating. -
Growing pains from a schema change and key players missing is the issue right now. Eagles, Detroit, Rams, KC would probably score at will on the D currently. Good thing we got a few weeks before we play some of them. We need to be heading towards a great D come playoffs. I think the Eagles game will be a good measuring stick for the D. And likely will need to be less "ugly" by the O.

If would largely say that Josh if he's gonna finish with those numbers and the Bills get a 1 seed at 13-4 or 14-3 then that should firmly put him in any MVP discussion top 2-3 and 95% of the time he would win MVP going away. But Josh's numbers aren't eye popping in the sense that he's leading the league in total yards and TD's by a wide margin and has not firmly cemented himself as a Bonafede MVP front runner just yet. Of course consistency is key in any MVP race and wins are paramount. Josh is in the MVP conversation but it's one that there's no leader in the clubhouse for the award. Honestly most seasons there rarely is. Last year Lamar/Barkley/Josh didn't emerge as the MVP favorites until deeper into November.

Is Hawes in the process of surpassing Knox as TE2??
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Actually Kincaid was the guy on the sidelines more than Knox against the Saints. It was noticeable during the game. Made me worry that he was injured. I don't understand why Brady won't feature him. He should be getting 8-10 targets a game. He is a matchup nightmare. -
Except most of those other puppets established careers independently. Many of them have full creative control of the defense. With McD, with all of his coordinators, he has to promote from within. Which allows him far more control over the coordinator than any external hire. How can anybody think this is Babich's defense or Leslie Frazier's for that matter? McD says, here are all your toys. These are the only toys you get to use. I will give you the freedom to use these toys how you want, but you can't have any other toys. That is hardly freedom. That sounds like complete hell to be honest. Nobody who is talented would work in that situation.

NOW is Bobby Babich's seat hot?
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
yeah, I do agree that is part of it--a much underestimated Saints' team, and even more true for Rattler, who may be their long term answer at QB, finally. The next few weeks will give us and Bills' leaders more info if they are considering a change.
