Evaulation (of this team) after a quarter of season gone
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall
For a team that can't rush the passer - why do we have the fewest passing yards allowed in the league? 9 sacks against 103 pass attempts is an 8% sack rate - the league average QB was sacked on 6.87% of their dropbacks in 2024. 194 air yards completed across 4 games, and 64 total completed passes so... the average completed pass has traveled 3 yards. The lowest in the league last year was 4.1 yards by Tua. They have allowed 243 YAC, which is an average of 3.8 YAC/completion. The lowest QB in the league averaged 4 YAC/completion in 2024. Buffalo has the #1 NY/A in the league. This is not affected by volume. (Passing yards - Sack yards)/(Pass attempts+Sacks) From an eye test perspective, i agree the tackling has been poor. I'd imagine some gap assignments have been missed by the defensive line, especially in the baltimore game. They seem to struggle to bottle up athletic QBs, which has always been an issue (and shouldn't since we rarely play man and our guys have eyes on QB quite often). But to say they aren't getting any pressure is just not true. Considering how insanely close to the LOS the average completion is, pressure is just not really going to come on those. -
What did we eat? And how will that affect our play?

I am really surprised to see his grade being so high. From the seats, he looked like he was getting abused at times. -
Jackson and Hairston are 2 of 3 players picked in the top 72 picks that have yet to play a down.
-
Also let's not forget the Bills are responsible for 25% of all their opponents' losses. And after tonight it'll (likely) be 2 wins as NYJ/MIA play each other.

Up: Bishop - Getting better Kincaid - Getting better all the way around Cook - Continues to impress this year Down: Groot - What the heck, man? It makes you wonder who will be riding the pine when steroid boy returns. Dorian Williams - Out of position on multiple occasions and getting shook by Rattler. 3rd Down Defense - At some point, Babich has to be held accountable as well. But the guys on the field are not doing him any favors.

IMO Shakir is too valuable to expose him to return punts; acceptable only as a emergency sub I would think. -

Once Again, the Trump Administration Snags a Win From SCOTUS on USAID Funding Case by Susie Moore FTA: Instead, we got a ruling from the high court on the USAID funding case. (Which isn't to say we won't also get one on Cook's case — there's still time left in the day.) Once again, the court handed the Trump administration a win, this time by formally granting the administration's application for a stay of D.C. District Judge Amir Ali's September 3rd preliminary injunction, which blocked the Trump administration from withholding previously appropriated USAID funding. As noted in the court's order, this is not a final disposition of the case. It simply means that Judge Amir's September 3rd ruling (enjoining the administration from withholding the funding) is paused while the issue makes its way through the appellate process. Also, this ruling applies only to the funds that were subject to President Trump's August 28 rescission proposal, i.e., the $4 billion. However, it does signify a win for the administration in terms of its control over funding, and may also add a wrinkle to the tussle over the looming shutdown. https://redstate.com/smoosieq/2025/09/26/once-again-the-trump-administration-snags-a-win-from-scotus-on-usaid-funding-case-n2194440 -

But not on National Television with everyone watching. I think that game was a local 1p slot game. That game yesterday left an indelible impression on everyone. The 'did he quit mantra' is loud today. -

The halftime show for me is; getting a cold beer, cleaning out the garage, doing my taxes.....anything but the halftime show. -

Division game and team's tendency to play down to opponents. Expecting a tough game. Hopefully, McDermott has team ready and they play better than they did against the Saints.

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse

It’s a two way street that never should have been ventured down. KC is happy to trade with us because they know they win those trades. -

That is week 16. There is a world where both teams have everything wrapped up by then. -
Definitely some results, especially their pass rush, have bared fruit so far. Which will be a problem if Spencer Brown can’t play again. Saw a lot of eye rolls, laughs and dismissing at those who go said the Saints weren’t going to just be a rollover game… Patriots are a better team. This game can’t going to be a period of stalemates like we saw in the second quarter. Thankfully the Saints couldn’t muster anything other than a FG on a punt from short field, penalty included. Teams are successful on the ground. Not having to be heavily reliant on the pass. Couple that with it being a closer game where they aren’t forced to air it out to catch up fast.

I think I may have a different interpretation of the test for Samuel. He failed. Codrington as returner and Moore as a receiver make Samuel and his large contract replaceable. Samuel, IMO, would make a great addition to an in-season trade for a top flight safety (to pair w Bishop) or an RB of better caliber to back up Cook (I'm getting worried about our current backups)

Game week thread - Pats at Bills SNF
Captain_Quint replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I watched the game last week and I think they had 4 or 5 fumbles, three by the starting RB. So ball security can be an advantage for us if that continues.
