Agreed. Look, as a Bills fan I'd love for every player to agree to play here for vet minimum. But that isnt happening, nor is it fair to the guys who actually make the league what it is. Who put their bodies and long term health on the line. Who have been training and working at this for decades. And who typically have less than 6-8 years to cash in. If the NFLPA had a spine, it would be more like a 65/35 revenue split in favor of the players.

To me the worst possible position a franchise can be in is having a Dak or a Tua, where they're good enough to likely demand franchise money but they aren't in the Top 5 or so guys that can really change the outcome. Such a difficult sport for a team and so hard to handle it correctly. We saw Dak and Tua get the bag. Baker didn't, then Baker ends up doing what he did. To say we lucked out would be an understatement.

You are arguing context but there was no context in the original statement - simply that four Super Bowl wins and zero losses is better than four Super Bowls wins and 2 losses. I agree winning in the finals does raise ones status exponentially however in this case the two have the same number of Super Bowls wins at the age you are comparing. I don't think losing in a couple of Super Bowls subtracts from the wins but rather adds (a little bit) to it.

I do think it’s possible the Bills extend him for 3 years/$30 million, or something like that. Cook would be wise to take that deal.

The season is over a month away. They are just being cautious with everyone for every nick they get. If this were week 2 of the preseason, and they is still two weeks out from the season opener, I might have a different take but we’re not there yet

The Bills are in a prime position as it pertains to Cook. First Running backs have a short shelf life as we all know. Cook still on his rookie deal can’t afford to take fine at all whether that’s not reporting for camp or missing games etc. Sure he could fake an injury to protect himself but that won’t help him get top end RB money from the Bills or anyone else with a guy with one really good season. He needs to play and ball out to get the money he desires which will help the Bills make hopefully another deep run. The Bills also have the luxury after this year of franchising him and keeping Cook(very unhappily im sure) and making him play again on a 1 year deal, trading him , or buying time to get a long term deal done. Running back is also one of the cheapest tags amongst position groups. Cook is going to play this year and he’ll play his hardest to get what he desires. He’s sitting out practices , while reported , to avoid being fined and to show his unhappiness with the little leverage he has this year. Beane, McDermott, and Cook deep down knows

If the Bills trade Cook, there is no way their running back room is not downgraded as a result. The best Buffalo could hope for is an average RB and a draft pick. I actually saw a hypothetical trade with the Cowboys where Buffalo gets Micah Parsons and Dallas gets Cook, a 2026 first round pick, a 2026 2nd and a 2027 4th. The two players are the same age, but that's a lot of draft capital to be giving up, even though Parsons is an elite game wrecker.

That's right, he's playing out the season no matter what. And the Bills know it. Teams hold all the power in these situations. It's why Trey Hendrickson just relented in a situation that was much much more toxic than what we have going on with Cook. Ultimately Cincy held his rights and he was giving up $50,000 per day to skip training camp, and missing regular season games is not remotely an option for any player thinking rationally. Hassan Reddick did it and just ended up screwing himself for no reason. Teams know 99% of players are not going to really follow through on their threats to skip regular season games, so they just wait it out. That's what will happen with Cook. I don't begrudge him for trying any tactic he has to get paid, but there's only one possible outcome and the Bills know it.

No. I said "You guys are expecting him to leave generational wealth on the table". As in, the difference between taking $12M/yr and $15M/yr on a 4yr contract is $12M left on the table. That $12M alone is generational wealth if managed properly. It's one thing if the sides are less than a million apart. Easy to argue either side should meet the other one. But if/when I have one shot to get paid, I'm not going to be happy leaving $10M-$15M behind just to please the people of Buffalo, NY.

it sucks but that's the reality of the league for the last decade+ its just not smart and if those runs need to get converted into passes so much the better
