Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)
mannc replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bedwetters are out in force. We’re playing at home against a 4-8 team that is probably the worst in the league at stopping the run. Also the worst at stopping TEs. It’s amazing how many pundits in Bills’ media world are picking the Bengals. -
This could be interesting in so many ways. One of my many Bills irrational necessities over the years apparently. I mean if Josh needs me to actively participate in a game so he can regain his mojo..ala..The Baltimore game who am I to question his request. we are all in agreement right?????

Lamar Jackson limited in practice yesterday, didn’t practice today

I'm about to have my meniscus done, told my doctor to wait until after the season. -
Outside of Josh Allen, Beane's best 1st round draft pick was used acquiring Stefon Diggs. Since then, he's been sub-par at both drafting & signing impactful free agents. How anyone could argue Beane's been paying the right people is insane to me. We have the least cap space in the entire league, with next to nothing to show for it. That's not good! Meanwhile, the Pats have the most cap space available, are already way ahead of us in progress, and still have Maye on a rookie contract. When they have to pay him, that gap will close, but it's a huge boon for them right now.

I think it’s pretty obvious what he could do. Let the guys walk and replace them with better players for less money. Example, don’t resign Rousseau because he’s basically invisible, save 20M, with that you could look at any of the 1 year rentals like Bosa or Floyd, add Clooney etc. Heck, he could have signed all 3 for about what he spent on Groot. More production, more depth and less money. So with that extra money that’s NOT wasted on an average guy, there’s room for another 10M worth of talent on the roster. The problem is, the SAME mistake time and time again. Bass, easily replaced, Bernard… already replaced, Rapp, Hamlin, Milano, Knox, Oliver, to this point Benford, arguable on Brown as well. The team has never had the top end talent to get over the hump because they won’t part with mediocre. Add in the FA flops like Samuel, Palmer, Moore. All taking up cap space for no production. Yes it ALL stems from mediocre drafting, but it’s completely on Beane not cutting the loss and continuing to push on with bad investments. Doing that pigeon holes him trying to fill the roster by swinging for “potential” from guys other teams refuse to pay as much as he will. See Palmer, Moore, Samuel, Rapp, etc. The most obvious issue is the DL, he needed to let Oliver, Jones, Groot, AJE all walk and sign the likes of Bosa, Floyd etc for less money and more production. Instead they have one of the highest paid, least effective lines in the NFL. It gets worse at WR, not much better at TE when you look at the draft investment as well. Safety has been become a major problem as well, the only saving grace is Bishop appears to have figured it out and is making up a lot out there.

Exactly! That's why I said both Qwan'tez Stiggers & DeMarvion Overshown sound like Key & Peele skit names 😂 Just real enough to be believable, but also ridiculous enough to sound like a joke!

I have a hangover. It’s not even Saturday am.
-
Me too. A blue box & red. Have been in my garages through 3 moves of unique climates. I thought they would be valuable someday...haha! What a loser! 😀
-
You forgot wide receiver. Beane must be sleeping next to the waiver wire.
-
Cant complain with Matt Campbell.
-
They can hang on to him as long as they damn well please. The Bills own his rights in perpetuity. He can retire, or play for the Bills. Those are his two options.

Ed Oliver bicep injury - likely out regular season

Well Landon had a great season hopefully can get ready for training camp next year -
Marino was talking about this. You’re not allowed to talk to the agent prior to claiming the player. So it’s unfortunate. Not sure it’s Beans fault. More interesting was the tension between McD and Bean he senses over the last year. And he thinks McD was not on board with this attempted CB swap.

Best we can do is try and get better at this point. But when they see the forecast from yesterday and today and see 8 degrees!

Agreed. The Madabuike part was strangely specific. The injury part.. pretty well known. Part of being a successful NFL player is the ability to play at a high level through injuries. These guys get scoped/surgeries all the time once the season ends. -
I cleaned my garage after 20 years and found houses wallet. Does that count

NFL mandates new playing surfaces for all stadiums by 2028

Just another nfl tell. Can t wait for the new nflpu contract and see what they finally say. How about 5 years ago do this. -
I was a bit. Not so much anymore. Once I got a Bills tattoo, I figured what could I buy from that point on that would validate my fan hood more than that. If something is cool. I may get it and if I don't, that's cool too.

Well just go out play a great game and get the dub. -
The backyard shed/bar needs more Bills crap, but sadly I'm working on a budget less than @HOUSE's. I do still have a decent looking Bills Starter jacket from 1990, so that counts for some form of hoarding.

Was he your staring CB this week?
-
Seems like a serviceable player with 95 career games. He hasn’t found a fit since leaving the packers.

Got me thinking about that Key and Peele skit... Some classics!
