Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup

The guy who represents an entity that throughout history has been corrupt, power hungry, started wars, hoarded riches, covered up sexual and physical abuses, telling others that if you don't go through them then you are not going to heaven is pretty arrogant and funny. In fact Jesus says that HE is the only way to heaven (John 14:6). He didn't say anything about the Vatican which is a completely separate entity created by the Romans aka the people who killed Jesus and the disciples and thousands of the early christians. If anything there is way more evidence that the Vatican has hijacked the name of Jesus for their own financial gain and is likely not the way to heaven but that is for people to decide for themselves "in their own way."

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
oldmanfan replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope you are satisfied at this point. Going into this off-season the concern voiced by many is the lack of separation and a guy that can stretch the field. Palmer ranks high in separation ability and Moore gives the speed guy (I’d also suggest a healthy Samuel can get down the field). It seems clear to me that Brady believes in his everybody eats philosophy. As of today you have 5 WRs, 2TEs and 3 RBs that can all get out there and get the ball from Josh. You have a strong O line and a complementary running game. And based on last year this offensive philosophy works pretty well. -
There is absolutely nothing better in sports than a cool Sunday morning. Windows open. Sun shining. Fantasy rosters locked in. Couple of parlays made. Knowing I have all the games available to me. I did the bar thing a few years back and it really gets to be too much by week 7 or 8; too much $$ and socially draining. Plus, having kids changes things.

Who is our worst match up in the AFC as of now?
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
That Baltimore game took everything the Bills had. I think this was McD/Babich’s signature win in 2024. The fact they were able to hold off Henry/Lamar from running all over us was definitely a miracle. At the time I thought Buffalo was gonna win it all if they were able to beat the Ravens who IMO were the best team in the NFL. -

Bills have 3 slot WR and only 2 WR that can line up outside. Most every WR can play slot. But few slot WR can line up outside. To have 3 slot WR and 2 outside WR is ass backwards IMO, and definitely not how you build a WR room. -

As usual Beane won’t get the credit for being smart enough to let Gabe Davis walk instead of paying him the 39 million he would’ve wanted to lure him away from the Jags. Davis should also send Josh Allen 39 million ‘thank you’ notes.

The point is anytime I voice my opinion that we need a speed WR, have for years, and substantiate with facts after facts- I get the ad hominem response “don’t you know we led in scoring?”. So I present more facts that substantiate, and yet I get mostly responses that do not address any ideas and facts I presented -

Rob Johnson broke my heart. I admit it: When he came to town I thought that he would be great. I had seen one of his games with the Jaguars and he completed almost every pass. RJ was big, an excellent runner, had a cannon, and was pretty accurate. Despite all of this he was horrible. I was at the game when he was on the Redskins and was worried for his life. He took numerous brutal hits. In any event, I suppose I would take Tyrod. -

Ok…so seeing Vince Young and Matt Leinart on this list legit blew my mind as I totally forgot their career farewell tours had a stop here. Who would have thought watching the absolute epic 2005 National Championship game with Young, Leinart, and Bush that they would all make stops here as shells of their former college glory on farewell tours of disappointing careers. - Today

This isn't baseball where some HR hitter leaves and suddenly that team loses a bunch of HR's unless they speciffically bring people in to make up for them because those are individual feats, not team feats. This is a team sport where TD's are a function of the 11 guys on the field doing their jobs. Just because a player leaves does not automatically mean the team is no longer capable of still scoring those TD's that "departed". When we step on the field, there will be 11 guys on it just like last year. Our best players are all returning and we lost the Ghost of Cooper and Mack Hollins who combined to avg just 4.3 rec per game. I am pretty sure between Keon healthy again and no longer splitting time, Kincaid and Samuel healthy, the additions of Palmer and Moore that we can safely say the group we are putting on the field is capable of making up for that minimal lost production and the TD's too. And as far as the rushing TD's...we have a great OL, a tank of a QB who is the most dangerous runner at QB in the redzone maybe in league history, and a great RB room...of course that is going to result in a lot of ground TD's, and it should, as its a much lower risk and higher percentage play then trying to throw in a short field deep in the redzone. Having at least 30 scores on the ground and 30 passing is like every team and coaches wet dream. So for me...I am not personally concerned about what left or how many of those we scores came on the ground. -

I don't look at it that way. I look at it as , He was the quarterback at the time the drought ended. 😉 -
Come on bro lol...you started the discussion because you disagree with an opinion I shared (which is fine and fair). Then you continued to keep it going (also fair and kind of the point to a discussion), but got to the point it made me quit the discussion because it was starting to get silly and off the rails. And I left it with an agree to disagree as there wasn't really anywhere else for the convo to go. But now you come back with this sort of poorest me post? Lol...no offense, but thats a bit much I will give you this though, this was pretty funny and I legit laughed, so kudos on that

After age 27 is where you usually see a pretty quick dropoff at RB regardless of wear and tear. Peak seasons of a RB are usually between the ages of 24 and 26. For historical context, even Thurman Thomas had a drop off at age 27 going from 4.8 ypc to 3.7 ypc. Cook's brother's best years were when he was 25 and 26 before being cut when he was 27 despite coming off a pro bowl season. The Vikings who are very analytics driven could see first hand the decline in speed. The Jets in all their brilliance couldn't. Maybe James Cook can defy the odds after next season but I'd be fine with another team taking that gamble.

Love these insight videos! Excited about these guys. Hairston and Landon Jackson are my favorite picks. Expect both of them to contribute this year. Gotta say, the opening?? Beane, drop it already. Didn’t realize he was that thin skinned. WGR guys have opinions and I happen to agree with them, WR is important.

Oh he is WAAAY better than DeAndre Swift. And I disagree he isn't a difference maker without gaping holes. The whole point about Cook is he makes the most of holes that are not gaping because he has elite vision. Did he have some runs last year where the Bills line just blew guys off the ball and he exploded through untouched? Yep. But he had multiple runs in that 8 to 20 yard bracket where a back with less vision is stopped at the line, or for a gain of one. While you are right he isn't a great pass blocker (nor is Ray Davis mind you, that's why Ty does it) if the Bills end up going from Cook to Davis that is a significant downgrade at the position. Normally I'd be like "meh, it's a downgrade at running back, who cares?" but the fact is until this offense gets better at generating explosive plays in the pass game outside of scramble drill those explosive runs are going to matter. He will play the season. 100%. He won't be here for OTAs. He won't be here for mandatory minicamp at a guess. He might not show up day 1 for camp. But by the tail of end of camp Cook will be here, he will be practicing and he will be ready for the season.

I think Edwards will walk after this year. The thing that stopped him getting good FA money when he left the Rams was injury. He has always been a good NFL starting guard, but he struggled staying healthy in his time there. If he plays a full year in 2025 to back up a full year in 2024 and continues to be a kind of 7/10 most weeks type performer he will go to the highest bidder next spring and the Bills would probably be looking at about a 5th round comp in value (obviously depending what else they do). The Bills will then either extend or use the RFA tag on Alec Anderson and let him and Tylan Grable have a competition for that spot at a guess. It is why Chase Lundt is a very interesting selection. While the Bills have a settled OL group this year there is potential for some movement next year and I think they see Lundt as a guy who could shift inside and compete or at least offer depth at guard. McGovern I think will stay and I think his number will come in around $10m AAV.

Pete replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Weird that you cant follow math. 76% of Offensive TDs is quite explicit for most. Of course a TD is still worth 6 points. So for Alpha Dude - 76% of 6 point Offensive TDs in 2024 were scored by Josh, RBs, and departed WR.
