What a fantastic way for our young players to get a taste of “big boy” NFL football, playing against a co-Super Bowl favorite. Is there any game remaining on the schedule that will present as much of a challenge? I love the thought of those young D-linemen watching the film and seeing how Ed Oliver played. Joshua Palmer absolutely upgraded the WR room. He ran precise routes, was sure-handed, and seems to love being here. How about those TEs? 7 catches, 98 yards, and a tuddy (shoulda been two). I hate to complain about anything related to that offense, but the 2-point conversion attempts were ass. For everything that went right to enable that comeback, how about the horrible call that almost cost them the chance (ref spot on Josh’s slide that didn’t give him the 1st down, which was followed by a penalty and sack)? There’s no way to prove it, but I believe that Oliver’s crushing hit on Lamar on 3rd down impacted Harbaugh’s decision to punt. On the tipped TD to Coleman I’m pretty sure Josh was throwing to Shakir, not Knox, and if Knox doesn’t tip it we might have scored anyway. A Raven DB got to Shakir late. Cook running through Roquan Smith’s tackle attempt after catching that swing pass was fun to watch. Incredible hustle play by Wiggins to prevent the TD. If the rest of the season plays out like we hope, it’s hard to envision not seeing these guys again in January.

Eligible Receivers - 2pt Coleman Non-Catch
Mark Long Beach replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall
DEFINITELY not an obvious challenge. I think it would have been a poor challenge, and thought so at the time. It's a judgement of the ref for when Allen starts to slide, not where he ends up. Even if they moved the ball forward, most likely we wouldn't have gained the full yardage needed for the first down. That would have been a disaster as we could have lost that timeout which would have lost us the game. -
In Puglia Italy on vacation - stayed up to almost 6am local time to watch the whole game. I never leave early/stop watching with JA17 at QB. Monday in Puglia was a bit tough but would have been much worse with a L.

Didn’t they hire someone specifically for game management and challenges?

Look, it's not rocket surgery: Load up the box and make Fields beat you with his arm. Do that and we win.

I enjoy watching the trenches so will enjoy the All 22. Since we didn’t hear anything about missed assignments, and of course the well needed catch, it sounds like a nice start. Prior to the season, the notion was that him vs. A. Anderson will provide more flexibility. Not that AA didnt do his job before this year, having an athletic, hard nosed power TE has value. I look forward to seeing how Brady will weave him more and more into the offense.

Good for them, and hope they enjoy it. One of my best friends transplanted from Tampa to Denver several years ago. As far as the new Bills Stadium, I’m elated our culture will not change, but improve. Cutting out a ton of the elements, controlling wind, and a state of the art stadium is great, yet its still feels like Buffalo.

Whoever left stadium early needs to….
BobbyC81 replied to Riverboat Ritchie's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only game I ever left early was in the winter of ‘96. It was so cold that the vendors ran out of hot chocolate in the first quarter. The Bills were up big on the Jets, me in from California, my brother and wife from Texas, so we got the hell out of there in the 4th Quarter. Even my nephews who live there wanted to leave. -
It can’t factor in the effect Henry has on a defense and how the QB benefits, or the effect having Andy Reid scheming up plays has on your performance… Eye test is enough. If stats were everything, Lamar would have won MVP

For this game, I almost wish the Bills get the ball first with the opportunity to score a touchdown and put the Jets on their heels. I think an opening drive touchdown would put added pressure on the Jets to “keep up” - knowing that if they don’t score they can easily be down 14 by the end of the first quarter. Most opponents don’t have the patience to “stick” to the run and instead quickly turn one dimensional, which helps the Bills lean into their base package and tee off on the pass rush.

It's just an outdated mathematical number Obviously having a number in the hundreds is better than a number in the 70s or 80s But it's far from perfect, same with QBR These ratings have flaws
-
It's mostly an efficiency metric and seems to heavily weigh yards per attempt, so it makes sense that Lamar was rated higher. It doesn't measure clutchness or the quality of your throws and is no substitute for the eye test.

30 point penalty for having arm arrogance.

To be fair, every CB looks like dump against Josh.

passer rating is a dinosaur

A few Random Thoughts After the Ravens Game

Open in the sense that if you have one of 3 or 4 particular QBs, yeah he’s open. -
I just like to let my eyes tell me everything I need to know about a performance on the field. I’m still treating my NFL viewing experience like it’s 1987, before we needed nerds with calculators to tell us who is better than who.

Josh ......112.0 Lamar....144.4 Josh is passing against a secondary loaded with first round picks, whilst Lamar is picking on a combination of rookies/sophomores and athletically limited DB's. Lamar also has the benefit of a generational monster RB that allows him to pass in situations where the box is stacked. Josh also passes for 180 more yards and with a similar completion percentage. And yet - somehow Lamar has a substantially better passer rating. I don't get it.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – I Never Leave Early

Completely agree....analytically it made no mathematical sense to go for 2 with the score 27-19? He took 3 Xpts off the board.
