Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
JakeFrommStateFarm replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your point is valid. Bills fans automatically think we will pick up right where we left off in league scoring. But in fact, every year is different. Each new year is a complete reset. There is no "picking up where you left off". Our main competition is stocking up on WR because Reid knows the value. Ravens will be better. The bengals will be back in the mix. Watch out for the Chargers. We need to give Josh every tool available to be successful next season. And we have reloaded the defense several times already in McDermotts 10 year tenure. Does anyone honestly think this year will be different ? At least give Josh some new weapons in this completely season to outscore teams in the playoffs. -
Trying to be more optimistic in life. I said I was being more confident than usual because the one seed is more attainable than ever at this point. Five out of ten of the teams that won the one seeds made the Super Bowl since the playoffs expanded in 2020. Once they started seeding in Super Bowl X, 53 of the 100 teams that made the Super Bowl were number one seeds in their conference.

I just watched the embedded video and it was interesting to hear what Gray and Beane said about Hancock. I also say an article that overthecap.com has us with just 1.9 mill in cap space. The cap space situation makes Lewis' spot on the team even more tenuous. -
I think the D Swift comparisons are more about the stats - the worth of a somewhat young player who has 200 carries, 1,000ish yds + approx 40 receptions for 300 yds with a good OL in front of them. Swift got 3yrs $24M with $15M guaranteed. Spotrac has J Cook's market value listed at $10.2M/yr (4yrs $40.8M).

Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky

I saw some tape of the Sr. Bowl where he was using power and not just standing upright. My hope is that he'll be the Josh of the defense. If you remember, Josh had tremendous arm talent but his footwork was a huge concern, however. At the Sr. Bowl, the tape showed he'd made big improvements in footwork...He wasn't there yet, but you started to see that progress. If Walker can stay healthy and improve his mechanics, he could be a monster. -
I have been pretty happy with every Bills roster of the past 6 years. I didn't buy 2024 as being a mini-rebuild year. But this is the best I've felt about a Bills roster. I also have a funny feeling about the upcoming season.

Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup

Has to be Peterman. He’s the one guy that would keep Josh on the field no matter how bad any non life threatening injury might be. -
Yes, most well rounded, complete roster under Allen

We’ve yet to lose a single game this year….so there’s that.

Incentives are typically negotiated between the player and team. Here is a good example of it: -

He doesn't look like your prototypical 3 tech either (like Jordan Philips, although I think he can be more than that) . Dude is pretty much a unicorn. Something else that's encouraging is that his intangibles are very good. Team captain and loved by his teammates and coaches. Doubt the Bills would have drafted him, given the issues around whether he will translate to the pros, if his character was problematic. His good tape is excellent but we don't get to see his bad and meh reps (unless you follow Kentucky) which are certainly much more numerous. He needs to be better conditioned. He plays with a good motor until he gets puffed later in games. Given where he was taken I absolutely love this pick. Upside is stratospheric. -

I don't. To quote the architect from the Matrix, "Hope. It is the quintessential human (Bills fan) delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength and your greatest weakness."

We've made it to 33 on this one, and this is only ONE of the WR threads. -

Interesting. I think Jesus sees Sanders as false idol and one of the Pharahos wicked henchmen. Probably stays completely clear of the political landscape and sees DC and its occupants generally in a Soddom/Gomorrah vein. While we disagree there, your imaginary dialogue likely played out as you have laid it out above. I can def see that.

How about we just look at the market price of a 200 carry 1,000 yd-ish back - (+ 50 rec for 300 yds) because that is what he has been, and that is the role the Bills have in mind for him. And that is not a $15M role. The useless bit of information about Cook's relative usage on our team is irrelevant. Without Cook someone else would be the second most productive player. And if that player got 200 carries and around 1,000 yards they too would not get $15M, no matter how exciting they look doing it. While you can downplay the 2 v 3 downs, you don't mention Cook not being out there during the crunch drive vs KC. Lets not pretend the coaches didn't want their best personnel out there - and Cook was not on the field. A $15M player should be out there in crunch time.
