Curious about how FinHaven was reacting to the Hill Injury, and expecting If be plowing through gallons of popcorn in the process, I traipsed on over to their board to read the tea leaves: Hills injury | FinHeaven - Miami Dolphins Forums What strikes me is that they're about as lifeless as their team. God, here we are, with Schopp and The Bulldog caterwauling for three hours about how our 2nd and 3rd string RB's aren't producing enough. Meanwhile, one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the league is probably done for the season, if not his career, and Dolphins fans are basically like, "Oh man, that sucks...". Can you, for one moment, try and imagine this board if we were in their shoes? We would be literally burning the Internet to smithereens! Maybe... Just maybe we should take a moment to realize how damn good we have it, right now, folks. Maybe we shouldn't melt down when our 2nd and 3rd stringers aren't posting Madden stats. Maybe... Just maybe we should check ourselves before we become kin to the dreaded, two-decades-worth of entitled Pats fans... Perspective is a lonely hand to hold, boys. We got it pretty damned good!

Crazy 2nd quarter. All our drives were short. 3 and out, 6 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out. Josh in fact completed 2 passes for 4 and 8 yards, but he was sacked twice for -7 and -9 yds, bookending a false start by Dion Part of it seems to be an attempt to open up a deeper passing game, resulting in a pick and an incompletion.

My take is that I'd feel better about the trade if we had gotten a good player with that 3rd rounder, and not DeWayne Carter who is very likely to be a total bust at this point. My other take is that I think both teams got the players they would have taken if they had stayed at their original pick. So mostly I just can't bring myself to care. Coleman makes our team better and Worthy makes their team better. They also each fit what their respective offenses want to do. I think Worthy has already pretty much hit his ceiling and Coleman still has room to grow, and I'm a sucker for high ceiling players so I'd still take Coleman right now if it were up to me. But there's not an ironclad argument for either player. It's week 5 of year 2 of their 10+ year NFL careers. Everyone needs to chill out and see where it goes.

Playing this out... Let's say McD were to decide to make a change at DC, who is it there that fits his D philosophy? Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone. And promote from within will leave a hole somewhere. I dont want McD taking over D duties in this year where we are aspiring for a SB. It is quite frustrating to see after all the resources that have been allocated to that side of the ball.

Honestly looking at it just by the numbers, Ryan Stonehouse makes a lot of sense. Still young, was an all pro, had an injury but appears to have bounced back. Huge leg. I don’t know what his hang time and placement is like but he can kick it

I'm not the defensive scheme guru that others here are, but how can you not, at least to some extent, leave the DE on an "island" as an initial run defender, in McDermott's scheme? (at least, not without leaving a giant hole somewhere else)? Of course, in McDermott's scheme, the LB and the safety should be reading and reacting correctly so the DE isn't the ONLY player in the way. But the DE has to be able to set the edge against the run. I thought Williams played better last year when he was filling in for Milano. Not that he wasn't still in the wrong place sometimes, just less of the time Perhaps we were hiding him better last year, between the DL rotation and Rapp/Hamlin instead of Rapp/Bishop?

Can’t worry about that. Gotta do what’s best to improve your team. After 1 year, it’s worked out better for the chiefs because Kincaid dropped a pass. There are still years to be played and I have a feeling that the trade will work out significantly more for us in the end. Just like trading Mahomes will work out best for us long term. If we drafted Mahomes, we’d probably still be at zero SBs……and we wouldn’t have Josh Allen. Who will win us at least one SB before it’s said and done. Which is likely more than Mahomes would’ve gotten us 🍀 drafting Mahomes means we would’ve never drafted Josh Allen. That’s a bad trade for us as fans.

Knox seems unlikely to be on the team next year. He could take a big cut. Pennies on the dollar basically. One the most most overpaid players we have had in recent memory which isn't even insulting the guy. He has a top 5 cap hit next year. He has been among our higher cap hits for several years. That will end next season. He can either go ahead and accept what less than half his current deal or he can sign elsewhere and come back for 1/10th of his current deal in 2027.

Babich's problem isn't predictability. His problem is intent, or lack thereof. He seems to think that if you just call a wide variety of plays out of the same look, that is enough to get the opponent off balance. "Oh ho ho, last time we had six guys at the line we sent all six, but THIS time we're only sending four! Good luck Spenc- ah he just scrambled right through the vacated gap for 15 yards." You can't just call plays to call plays. Every play, especially on money downs, you need to anticipate what the opposing OC likes to call in those situations, what the opposing QB likes to do in those situations, and beat them to the punch. So when for example you face a backup caliber QB that likes to throw to his first read or use his legs, you account for it in your play call. You don't blitz while playing off coverage on his best WR as if to signal with a big neon sign "THROW THE BALL HERE." You don't drop both LBs out of the A gaps and leave a wide open lane up the middle for him to plod through. Multiplicity is great and I'm happy the Bills are throwing more pressure looks to make up for coverage issues popping up on the back end, but having a larger playbook doesn't automatically win you games. You still have to call the appropriate plays at appropriate times. The goal of calling the defense is to confuse the opponent and goad them into mistakes. Lately it's more common that we're confusing ourselves.

They are right about the OL and Brady's structure of the offense. They are wrong about Dalvin vs James Cook so far. James is the better all around player and is becoming just as big as a running threat.

I thought about Ryan Allen but he’s working for the Patriots as a coach. The rest of the guys have low averages the last time they punted so there is a reason they’re not in the league anymore. Scoured the UFL averages this past year and former Syracuse Punter Sterling Hofrichter had the best combo of Average and Net and Brad Wing was the UFL punter All Pro for the league
