Not sure what metrics are used to differentiate between those players you mention and Dawkins, I’m going to take your word for it that there’s something obvious being used to set them apart from Dawkins, I don’t follow other teams LTs enough to know anything.

A very sort of off season thread I realize. The other thread about fandom pre Josh Allen made me think of too how following the Bills or really a lot of things changed over the years. In the 90s and I think even the 2000s the teams official site seemed to be where it was at. After the old BBMB got cut off very abruptly I really don’t look at Buffalobills.com much at all. I thinks its still a source for tickets but I’m not sure how much use it still gets.

We moved to Florida in 1993, but I clearly remember watching games in Hilton Head, SC where I would pull a chair up close to the TV, and just follow MJ everywhere he went on offense and defense. I remember my wife walking in and giving me a WTF type of comment. I probably looked like a cat following a laser pointer. 😂 I really enjoyed the NBA when I was younger. We split season tickets to the Braves with another family (that was plenty) and my sister used to babysit Bob Kauffman’s kid. Braves games were nice family time without the risk of sitting thru miserable weather.

I think Trent Williams, Tristan Wirfs, Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, Laremy Tunsil, Christian Darrisaw, and Rashawn Slater are better left tackles than Dawkins if we're going to just keep it on the left side. I think making the pro bowl four years in a row is getting enough credit. I don't think he's ever been close to being a top two left tackle in the league though when it comes to All Pro voting.

I agree, as I got into my twenties, I began to feel less emotional about the game as well. I started to remind myself that win or lose, these guys could have more fun than I could dream of at that point in my life. So why should I sit at home upset about it myself?

Yeah people don't realize how much they've missed the unnecessary, drive stalling calls that you get when you use a 250-270# TE to run block instead of a real 320# offensive lineman. The mind blown "imagine if the Bills could use a TE instead of an extra OL" takes after the draft were precious. Nobody needs a Lee Smith. If he's going to be out there he better catch the ball and make plays in the passing game too. The good news is that he seems to be getting good reviews in that regard.

From a monetary standpoint , I agree. McD is not one to move on from his homegrown players easily. Elam is a fine example of hanging on too long AJ is serviceable or better , and yea McD is really about his 4 man rotation up front. So he still fits the mold Sean wants up front imo

Just sour grapes from Elam so I really do hope he is the starting corner for Dallas this year. Let's see him put his money where his mouth is. I only wish the Bills played the girls this season, as it will be fun with or without elam, but more fun with the guy. This coaching staff takes okay/decent CB prospects and turns them into starters, and sometimes stars. So I am not betting on Elam blossoming this year, playing for a much lesser team and organization. Despite his laughable comments. The good thing about the big miss with him is that the Bills likely upped their preparation for this and last years' drafts considerably. Looks like, on paper at least, they may now have high end talent at most of the CB positions. We will see soon how it comes together on the field. Bishop runs a 4.4, Hairston a 4.29, both hopefully replacing Hamlin (a 4.63 40) and Douglas (4.59). Should give every Bills' fan hope that they will see a very different secondary this year. (And Darrick Forrest ran a 4.4.)

Fair enough. It's never good when the argument for keeping him is he can be more effective if one of our two rookie DT's become upgrades over last year and we have to scheme him to be more effective. I think the argument is fruitless though because I don't think a team would take on his $5.7m base salary if we did find a trading partner.

If we are going to speculate on why Coleman struggled when he came back I'd say it's more likely that he had mentally checked out on the season during his recovery. Coleman is not a guy who was used to playing football in December and January to begin with. It's hard to be any good in the NFL unless you are all-in mentally and physically. I'm not directly equating the situations but Chase Claypool is the extreme example of how far you can fall in the NFL when you lose your competitive edge. I think Coleman's lapse was likely temporary but now that is part of his history that people will be watching for.

To be your counter here. AJE will play better/be more effective with an improved middle of the line (hopeful). He is a role player and will not be much more. But he can be schemed to become More effective. I am not dumping that guy at this point. If we had picked up another potential beast in FA ? Maybe my thinking would shift to move on from the young man.

I've yet to hear a good argument against it assuming the lowest income earners don't pay taxes at all. I doubt the US ever does it though because the transitional period would be too burdensome.

After returning from his injury, he had 29 targets and caught 10 of them for 161 yards and 1 TD. His complete lack of success when being targeted answers the question of why he got so few of them. The worst game Allen has had in the past 5 years was against the Texans when he went 9/30 for 131 yards and a TD. That production was eerily similar to what Coleman put up pops injury. Why would anyone want more of that?

What Allen CAN do consistently that the Bills can't take advantage of with this WR corps is throw 30+ yard passes on a line. He doesn't have great touch on throws that require air under them but he can throw to areas of the field on a rope that others have to throw with arc/anticipation. Throws that are normally way out of a QB's range to make and where DB's are very vulnerable . Allen's range as a passer of low trajectory throws actually opened up the field quite a bit for Gabe Davis, who had the size to do work downfield but little else. Hopefully Coleman can become a much better version of Gabe, at least. But unless Allen can maintain his strong arm until the end, eventually he will have to find more consistency on touch/timing passes over the top to stay among the very best in the league as he ages.

Some of those names are right tackles and Dion Dawkins has 7 years of consistency and he's getting better He's a tremendous left tackle who deserves more credit
