Parsons traded to Green Bay, given $188 million contract
Mike in Horseheads replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would be the most stunning trade of the year for just about any other city in America besides Dallas, which has now seen its sports teams deal away two young cornerstones in Parsons and NBA standout Luka Doncic in a matter of eight months.Like Doncic, Parsons is the sort of young superstar at a critical position who isn't supposed to ever hit the market. Reminds me of when they signed Reggie back in the day. Jerry probably didn’t like Parsons getting so much attention off the field with his podcast and all, taking the attention away from himself -
Keep in mind, preseason isn't there to entertain and be watched by fans, its to evaluate guys trying to make a roster or fight for starting spots or roles.

Parsons traded to Green Bay, given $188 million contract
Doc Brown replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
This and we would've had a lot of ammunition if we knew Parsons was available for a trade in March (a 1st, two 2nds, Cook and Rousseau on their rookie deals). Dallas dropped the ball here as they could've gotten a lot more for him in March including pieces that would've helped them compete this year. -
Nowadays, if a player has a hangnail during the preseason, he is on the shelf for weeks.... Preseason is getting harder and harder to watch......thankfully, its almost time for some real games with the real starters. Go Bills!!!

When you're gearing up to re-sign your own you see it coming and plan accordingly. It is much harder if not impossible to work in a $47M AAV contract out of the blue a week before the season starts after you just spent a whole offseason tying up your cap for the next few years. I'm more open to this argument as it pertains to DK Metcalf where we had a legit opportunity to add him while the team building process was still ongoing. That is a potential missed opportunity that could theoretically look really bad depending on how this season ends. But Parsons just wasn't possible IMO. The argument is Rousseau plus Bernard plus Hoecht, or just Parsons, and if that was the trade off I would of course take Parsons. But we weren't presented with that trade off and Beane couldn't just sit on his hands all offseason saving future cap for a hypothetical move that nobody saw coming. -
I've seen a number of places say ours is the best one:

Jalen Kimber is interesting to me. He's a guy who started his College career at Georgia. So he was obviously a highly recruited guy. Then he transferred to Florida. Then transferred again to Penn State to finish his College career. Those are three pretty big schools to all say "yes" to the guy. And with him transferring so much, he probably never really got his feet fully underneath him - constantly having to learn new Defenses and Playbooks and having to reacclimate himself so much. There must be something there for all of Georgia, Florida, and Penn State to want him. And for Beane to bring him on at the expense of a guy he spent a pick on just last year and to take him over Zy Alexander, who was also here and had a better Draft grade going into this year's Draft.
-
I did think of that. I wonder if the original Lions hand-me-down uniforms for the first year were actually considered for this design, or just happenstance.
-
Figured he’d be back, no need to bring him back early on a high ankle. Let that sucker heal as long as possible. Good sign though he’s back on the field with a week left to shake some rust off

I don't understand what's to hate about them. It's a pretty innocuous look. I like them. I can understand being underwhelmed or not really caring bc it's pretty bland. But some of you are acting like they busted out some kind of multicolored, CFL monstrosity on the eyes.

Hasn't recent SB history shown that the DL is more about collective talent than about fielding one elite EDGE guy? Or moreover, if you have one elite guy, it's better to have him on the inside? I actually prefer McBeane's approach to building a deep DL, it's just that they haven't picked the right guys and/or haven't properly developed the guys they've picked (coaching/scheme). Hopefully Nielsen can help get more out of the DL room overall. Some interior disruption would go a LONG way towards making this D work. Especially while the dynamic LBs behind them are healthy. -

Super cohesive group. No doubt genuine comraderie helps to make the grind more meaningful, and it very likely helps some guys push themselves even a little harder. Can't let down the squad you go to war with. -

For those that are in the camp of too much money, what do you expect to pay if we hit on a elite DE? Are you going to let him walk after his first contract? The goal is to be in a position to pay somebody this type of money. We haven’t been yet. So in some ways whenever we see these deals, especially given our inability to find this type of talent ourselves, yes, it’s a little frustrating that we aren’t in the mix. A player like this is the difference at this point and a couple picks in the 30s hasn’t really elevated this team. To me, a guy like this is worth Keon Coleman, Max Hairston, and Ed Oliver. That’s a couple 30 picks and your DT. It’s not even a thought. I hope we at least made the call. -
I see that Jalen Kimber is a cornerback and Andre Jones is a defensive end. I guess Kimber makes sense in that they released Daequan Hardy. I was almost thinking they'd stash a kicker on the PS for a few weeks until the Bass situation cleared up.
