  1. Past hour
  2. the defense really has been all-around okay for all the injuries, IF you look at the totallity of the numbers. problem is, they get torched the entire first half of the game. setting a weird tone for how the offense tries to react and respond. the defense turns it around at halftime, but the tone has often been set already by that point.
  3. So, in your opinion, it would be better to fire a coach knowing any replacement you hire will not be as good as the one you just fired?
  4. big time. to me edmunds and groot are premium talents, more so edmunds but at a lower value position. neither are perfect and both are somewhat limited, but size strength health and length can't get coached. if you didn't know football and just went to some function and saw the guys in shorts and ts doing athletic stuff, edmunds and groot and allen (and spencer and some other guys) would stand out as big tall long giant athletic guys. you can build on plus athletes if you throw in a game changer or two, and they don't get blown off the ball or crushed like say our lbs or 7 do on every 3rd play.
  5. Ah yes, the old "Dont believe your lying eyes" line with McDermott defensive players. "He was never mentioned during the entire broadcast and made no plays of note, but if you were smart enough, you'd see that he was actually fantastic." Okay.
  6. Then I will defer to you. I have always felt that McD had much more say in draft and FA. I stand corrected.
  7. Pegula to McDermott: Pegula: Hey Sean McDermott: Hey, Terry. How are you? Pegula: Good. Good. I was wondering if you thought that stadium across the street was really nice? McDermott: Excuse me Pegula: The stadium....across the street....do you like it? Do you think it looks beautiful? McDermott: Why are you asking? Pegula: I was wondering if you wanted to be the head coach in that stadium next year McDermott: I'm sorry, I don't follow Pegula: The stadium across the street. Do you wanna be the head coach in it next year? McDermott: Um. Yes Pegula: Then I suggest you make some big changes this year. Without a trophy, no new stadium McDermott: But wait Pegula: No trophy, no new stadium. Also, I didn't see Brandon in his office. Do you know where he went? McDermott: I have no idea. Why? Pegula: Don't worry, I'll find him. Remember what I said, no trophy, no new stadium. Brandon is about to find out to Pegula sees a batch of chocolate chip cookies on McDermott's desk as he exits. Pegula: I'll take one of these. But remember....remember. Have a good day Stay tuned for the conversation with Brandon Beane
  8. All I can think about is “how much worse can it get?” Our defense is average at best, with a defensive minded HC trying to pull double duty. Having a veteran DC can’t do much worse in my opinion. Brady is doing the same thing he did in Carolina, which would lead me to believe he can’t turn it around. We should have our choice of OC with Josh and Cook as fun toys. The Culture was fixed and appears to now be heading in the wrong direction. So, to me, no where to go but up.
  9. I think you are just seeing that it's very hard year to year to be consistently great in the NFL. The odds are stacked against you in every way possible. What the Bills have done is not common, and while some struggles can be seen as a step back, it's really not much different than in 2023 or even 2021 at this point of the season. In 2023 we were 6-6. Nothing matters until the playoffs really. I mean sure the 1 seed would have been nice but that's likely not happening now.
  10. I am sure about it. I have spoken to two people who have worked in that building and been in the draft meetings and in the room. Neither are still in the organisation but both have confirmed to me absolutely that Brandon Beane runs personnel. The evaluations and the decisions are his. He and McDermott are aligned strategically but the evaluations and selections are Brandon Beane.
  11. Buffalo has plenty of time before the next game. I imagine that one day between now and November 30, McDermott is going to have his team sit down for an extensive film watching session of the Houston game. Maybe it will be done by position group and I suspect Dawkins and others are going to get to watch themselves quitting on plays, and in Dawkins' case getting his QB dumped on the turf. I think the position coaches will try and make guilty players feel every bit of that guilt.
  12. Playing like that he belongs on the Ravens. All happy when winning but when challenged they collapse. That's how they've been for years. The Bills of previous years used to take a loss or even a bad play and bear down to get better. Last night and against the Dolphins, they quit.
  13. Why would Saleh make a parallel move from SF, where he is currently the DC, to Buf? All the proven ones already have DC or HC jobs. The same goes for offensive head coaches. To make this move, you need to hire a current OC with no HC experience as HC and a position coach as DC. You have no idea how they will do in the new roles. Our best hope is that the Browns do something stupid like fire Stefanski.
  14. This rings very hollow given that the two most popular names last year, Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel, have both immediately turned their franchises around in year one. Great coaches are fairly easy to spot. I'll agree that the available names this year aren't quite as inspiring as those two but that doesn't mean you hold onto a coach that you know for a fact is never going to get it done.
  15. Funny you mention the CFL, because that will be Palmer’s employer in 2 years.
  16. But he has a cool nickname…that must count for something? Lot of dollars spent on two DL extensions. One can’t stay healthy, and the other can’t rush the passer. 🤮
  17. I'm going McDermott. The perceived notion that this defense at one time was considered elite (statistically) during his tenure is such a fallacy. Just look at this units playoff success and not regular season beating up on AFCE tomato cans. I won't say his beloved nickel scheme can't work, but he doesn't have the right make up of players currently to make it formidable. Its basically the same scheme Houston runs but theirs sure looks a whole lot different doesn't it. It was fairly successful when main cogs like Taron, Milano and Tre were in their prime, but that ship has sailed. Sure, offense is a problem at times but it's still capable of putting up points in bunches. Yeah, it's McD for me. Until we get the Dawgs that can excel in it we're just spinning our wheels as we continue to keep and restructure washed players.
  18. I've found myself wondering wtf is Brady thinking a lot this season. His play calling, certain game plans and questionable adjustments(or not) all leave more to be desired The defense is leaking but we are wrecked on D with the injury bug. So McD, Babich and the players are doing an okay job making it work with what they have. Oliver and Hoect healthy, this line would wreck games and QBs.
  19. Not crazy at all. I don't want to back into a division title. Go out early. And get an even tougher schedule than next year will already be. All the while Pegula thinks things are fine. Short-term pain for long-term gain hopefully.
  20. He did. Again. There's a host of people who stare at the ball convinced that they still know what they're watching.
  21. Agree completely. Would this team be any different without Bernard, Benford, Rousseau and Shakir and replacement level players in their place? Or maybe, gasp, we play Keon where he’s supposed to play. This Defense is better without Bernard. Injury is an excuse but he’s always injured. The other 3 have been ok.. and they were paid to make a jump. In reality, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference on the cap this year, but we’re suffering this year for previous contracts like Milano, Knox, Johnson and Samuel. It’s a hamster wheel of constantly paying non-game changers. At least this group is young .. about the only thing they have going for them.
  22. intersting that over 80% of us have basically given up on this season. sad, but realistic. i think mcD is a good coach and will do good things for another program. He's done all he can do for us. he's reached his ceiling. but i think what's really gonna happen is Brady gets canned, and McBeane stays. It's possible Beane will go as well. I don't believe they'll get rid of McD. He could honestly be an asset if he was surrounded by A coordinators. but that's not reality for almost any team. but who's out there?
  23. Hot start? Against who? Until a couple weeks ago, the teams they beat had a combined total of single-digit wins. I’m done with the injury excuse. Every team deals with injuries, the great ones overcome them. At some point, we have to decide what “good” actually means. To me, good teams impose their will. They force opponents to adjust. They don’t live in a world of ifs and hypotheticals. That’s not the Bills currently, not the way I see them. We’re a “good enough” team, always chasing the carrot just out of reach. We soothe ourselves with the same recycled lines: If they were healthy… If Josh had one more second… If he catches that ball… If they recover that fumble…It never ends. We’re in our Uncle Rico era: “If coach had just put me in, we would’ve won state.” And honestly? Whatever day of the week they’re playing, it isn’t fun to watch right now. It feels like Season 18 of The Walking Dead, just shuffling along, hoping the next episode finally changes something. At some point, the results speak for themselves. There’s no magic quick fix here. A real philosophical shift has to be on the table.
  24. And, of course, they jerked him around forever because he plays offense, a side of the ball the front office and coaching staff couldn't care less about.
  25. and yet we've managed to get to 7-4, a testament of good coaching? A good QB? Or both. KC and Baltimore arguably have better rosters but we have a better record, why?
  26. I am guessing their fanbases are not as critical of their play as some Bills fans are of Josh's play but I don't follow their fans so I could be wrong on that. I dont think anyone is giving Josh a complete pass. I think the crux of the matter is that it is past time to do something about it other than hope he plays better. We know what he is capable of. Is the offensive struggle this year more because of him or the scheme or his supporting cast? He is a proven commodity, but Brady is not and the receiving group have proven to be below average. So, of course Josh could play better but that almost doesn't matter inthe grand scheme of things. The whole offensive philosophy needs to change, scheme and talent. Unless the Bills can field a defense like the Texans or Eagles, the team should build around making Allen look electric. That's my view anyway. I think the Ravens should probably look at a change of coaches. KC? They have a long leash because of their unmatched success over the past half decade or more. Personally, I dont think Mahomes is a main problem in KC. Their weapons (and oline) have let them down, similarly to Allen's.
