Theyre fine, and Bears fans are fine. This is still a HUGE step forward for that team. Given it's year 1 with Johnson, they'll have the patience to come back next year if things dont work out. But having a legit coach, and seeing what he's done for Caleb's development is enough to get them through to next year. A playoff appearance would be amazing, but not the end of the world if they miss. Even the loss yesterday, it wasnt a blow out, it wasnt a roll over and die game, it was a well and heard fought battle with an established division rival. Easier to take.

Yep, especially since Deone Walker for all of the early flashes has graded out as middle to bottom among interior linemen. I am hopeful that an offseason program will lift his play but for now he is not looking like the monster we had hoped he will be.

That Jets game is what made me not jump on the Flutie hype train.

Buffalo is the 2nd best team in the AFC

You have beaten the Giants, Saints, Jets, Titans, and Falcons. You beat Miami Week 2 when they were an utter mess. You beat the Bengals when they were missing not just Joe Burrow but Jamar Chase as well. You beat Tampa who was missing their entire offense minus Baker and he was on one leg. You got a quality beat down of the Panthers early in the season when they were a disaster. You have a quality last second field goal win against Buffalo who was missing half their defense and spotted you three turnovers. You have losses against the Raiders and Steelers like all teams have terrible losses this year. The difference between New England and all other contenders? You haven't played the Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Texans, healthy Bengals squad, Ravens, Jaguars, healthy Colts team, Packers, Bears, Lions, Eagles, Cowboys, Niners, Rams, and seahawks. Right now your schedule outside the Bills Buccaneers, Panthers, and Dolphins is all teams picking in the bottom 10 of the draft. Buccaneers and Panthers are one and done playoff teams. Dolphins are going to fire their coach in the offseason and Bills lead the league in man games lost on defense and you were the biggest benefactor of those injuries along with the Falcons. Congrats New England. Playoffs don't lie. -
"We all" definitely did not.

Multiple times. He was attacking the LOS like it had kicked his dog and was repeatedly leading with his face over and over and over again. I think he was second on the defense in tackles, just behind Oliver. There were at least 2-3 of those tackles where he came in at full speed to take on a charging RB around the sticks and paid for it. Then he got up and went and did it again. And again. There are folks who keep saying he's been coming on lately but has been bad since the beginning of the season; I think some of those OG's may have missed the opener.

Still can’t get over this…what a collapse. I don’t know what the numbers are, but they have to be in some kind of rare territory to start 7-1 and miss the playoffs. Even with Jones it looked like it was going to happen but with him out for sure now, you really have to feel for Colts fans to have a promising season ripped away like that.

Game week thread - Bills at Patriots*

I’d be more confident if we hammered them at home, but as it was the box score was pretty even. We basically lost that one on turnovers. Bills had 3 (two fumbles, one interception), while the Patriots had zip, this contributed significantly to the “L”. If we can play clean (no turnovers limit penalties) and control the possessions/clock game I like our chances in Mass. -
I already looked it up if we post June 1st him we will save 7.6 million but I think they keep him one more year because there is no replacement for him. I will be harping big time to replace the 2nd level of the defense next year.
-
Here's a crazy thought, we probably want Miami to keep winning games so that week 18 game has some meaning for them. If NE loses to Buffalo and Baltimore Miami is our best hope at stealing the division.
-
That is amazing. There is no room for error in the NFC. Wow.
-
Dolphins could absolutely give them problems!

This is why I say Fire Beane. Many on here have noted since the start of the offseason (interviews at the combine is when I first noticed) a seeming "disagreement" between McDermott and Beane in regards to the team. The whole Lockstep seems to be out of sync. McDermott said we needed to be able to stretch the field on offense, I specifically remember him saying that, and then... Nada in the draft. I would like to see what McDermott could do if he had a GM who could hit on his 1st - 3rd round picks better. Better DL, LB, DB and esp WR! Maybe then we can see the Defense, and offense, that McDermott envisions. That said, Congrats to coach on his achievement.
-
This has been one of his better coaching seasons. Doing more with less talent. Now let's end the season with a win.
-
i’ll eat some crow. He looked awful early in the season and i thought his contract was another Beane Masterclass. I was wrong and happy I was.
-
That team is young well coached and on the rise, I wouldn’t worry too much.

Yeah, my one complaint on this board is the amount of fans from other teams that are permitted to hang out and troll here. -
Their dynasty is over. Mahomes and Reid could still go on a run in any given season, but them being in the AFCCG every season (or even most seasons) is done. A lot has to do with the Broncos ending their franchise dysfunction and Sean Payton building a good program, along with Jim Harbough in-division. Now the Raiders will probably draft Mendoza 1OA. The ferrari we knew the chiefs as, with Tyreek, prime Kelce and Hunt is long gone. Their defense and Kelce as a safety valve kept them great for awhile, but now Kelce is a shadow of his former self, and Chris Jones (their actual MVP) isn't the same. You also have other formidable teams in the AFC, it isnt so top-heavy anymore. And I don't believe Mahomes is as gifted as a QB to carry a team the same way Allen can, or even a healthy Jackson. While they can make the playoffs.... Kansas City isnt going to run through the AFC having to try in week 18, and them play on the road in weeks 19, 20, and 21 against better teams.

Meh, some people want to deal in absolutes. I like Benford. He's a very good player for us. Criticizing your best players for playing bad when you need them to be your best players is fair game. Benford was very bad to start the season. That's not a hot take.
-
Hate to say it but time has diminished TJ to a partial player. He always played bigger than his size and those hits have taken their toll.
-
They'll be fine.

Doc, I don't know why nobody else listens on this subject. The Phins have won 4 straight, have a pulse, and their schedule goes: @ Steelers (7-6) Bengals (4-9) Bucs (7-6) @ NE (11-2) No, I don't think they make the playoffs and maybe they can't beat New England, but I think they may have SOMETHING to play for on 1/4, especially if they can roll to 9-7, which is not impossible. If they are 9-7 and they can ruin the Pats season..yeah, they might show up. All we have to do in that scenario is run the table. The division would be ours and with 2 additional AFC losses by the Broncos, the Conference would be ours, as well. I refuse to give up pursuit of the division and the conference. Go Bills
