  1. Past hour
  2. He looked like he had a hell of a lot of potential. Let’s hope with time, rest, and rehabilitation he can continue playing the game. If not at least he can say he got to be drafted, played on the league, and got to start a game
  3. I didn’t want a trade at all. I have little faith in Beane’s ability to A. pick WR receiver talent B. Pay the proper price. But I stand by my assessment that Josh is the reason we are who are, where we are. Not just this season but in terms of this run. That was in regards to the comparison w/Rivers, although Josh in better than Rivers
  4. That was a very nicely timed PA out of 12 personnel that 100% fooled KC. Brady won that play, not the receiver. I don't really count that as an example of Knox "stretching the field." But I will give our offense some credit for finding some explosive pass plays against KC. That was totally missing in previous weeks. That PA to Knox, Kincaid's TD, the 47 yarder on Kincaid's crosser, the flag route to Moore. No coincidence that all 4 of our TDs came on drives that featured those 4 plays. In fact the outcome of drives in this game perfectly correlated to whether we had a 20+ yard pass play. On 4 drives we had a 20+ yard pass and scored a TD on all of them, on 5 drives we didn't have a 20+ yard pass and failed to score a TD on all of them. That's how critical it is to be able to produce those explosive passes. I remain unconvinced that we can consistently create those plays with the current personnel, especially if we're ever in a situation where the defense knows we have to pass, and I would have preferred to add a weapon that gives us more consistency there. But maybe they can build off this last performance and prove me wrong. We'll see.
  5. He got a signing bonus of $285.356 and that's all that was guaranteed. Like many late round draft picks and UDFA, he probably has a "split contract" clause in his contract that lets the team pay him less while he's on IR, typically something like a 45% pay cut. So instead of $568k he'll get $312k. Total for year, $597. There are still a lot of young people who would like $600k for a year's work, plus medical and life insurance. The problem, as you say, is that these kids had to be pretty single-minded about pursuing their dreams to get here. So it's very difficult to pivot.
  6. Not to keep receipts but I never understood the we can’t afford him. I’d rather pay Jimbo 15 million and cut Dawson Knox or any number of other guys than give him up. His vision speed power and elusiveness is a combo I’ve never quite seen before. And his actions speak louder than words, one word at time style is awesome. He’s no chirper. Gotta love the guy.
  7. I can't find the stat from this year, but last year we faced the lowest percentage of two high coverage shells in the NFL at 37.7%. This is per Joe Marino's substack. I swear I remember hearing we are similarly low this year but I don't know the exact percentage or ranking. Defenses are definitely very mindful of Allen's ability to deliver strikes to the intermediate area of the field, but they are not worried about us getting behind them. They're able to cheat a bit and compress short and intermediate passing windows because we have no way of punishing them for it. A lot of Allen's initial reads end up muddy because a coverage defender that should be in conflict is able to stay leveraged both low and high because they have no fear of one of our WRs darting past them.
  8. Surprised and disappointed that we could not trade for a DT that would be an upgrade from the former Bills players who were in today to try to fill a roster spot. WR was a tougher position to upgrade at this time, although I was hoping for Shaheed because he also would have helped our special teams return game which has been lackluster with Codrington regressing from last season and being inactive. I am happy that the Chiefs did not get Hall from the Jets. That would have been a significant upgrade for them.
  9. Leftist commies won elections in blue states and cities. Shocker! Self reflection time! 😂
  10. I get it, really I do. I’m just not confident that the Jets have the right people in place to use all the effectively. IMO Glenn has been a disaster, the owner is a donkey and that building has a culture of losing. Why sign Gardner to a huge deal in July then trade him away? I get the compensation is great, but it undermines the current regime. Were they so bad in the assessment of where the team was in July that by November it’s time to blow it up? Same thing with Fields, is he your guy or not? Owner says he sucks while signing his checks Just lack of planning and direction from a team has desperately needed it for a decade +
  11. That was a good laugh! Agreed. Nothing worse than persistent, chronic whining on a message board... or anywhere else. True... unless you consider Mike Pennel to be a major addition which I'm sure you don't. The Patriots did stockpile draft picks though so they benefited from the trade deadline in a reverse sort of way... they now have 10 draft picks in 2026. I don't think it can be argued that the Jets and Dolphins were not going to deal with us unless the Bills dramatically overpaid. Yes. Also I feel like the kid who didn't have a very good Christmas. It's too early to say but it looks like the 2025 draft could go down as another 2022 draft which is to say, pretty darn good. Ineptitude? Is that what you call a .647 winning percentage and 7 playoff appearances in 8 years... on the heels of a 17 year drought? As you point out, it's very hard to judge Beane today because we don't know what was on the table, so we don't know what he turned down. It's fair to judge him on the basis of not giving up a 3rd rounder for Shaheed. It's not black and white if that would be a good trade but it's also fair to say that some GMs might have pulled the trigger. It'll be interesting to see how he does in Seattle but however that turns out isn't immediately applicable to how he would do with the Bills. Other than that, I guess we could possibly have traded for Logan Wilson, provided Cinci would trade him to an enemy... he went to Dallas for a 7th rounder. For the sake of a better discussion, are there any other known players we should have outbid teams for? George Allen's Over-the-Hill gang never won a Super Bowl so not the greatest example. The Rams and Eagles are arguably examples of teams which have made bold moves that have paid off... but the exception is not the rule. Most big swings are misses... how are the Packers doing with Parsons? This is mostly fair although Beane did make big, bold moves for Stefon Diggs and Von Miller. Since then he's said more than once, "you're never just one player away." I'm a bit disappointed that the Bills ended up standing pat but I also admire the discipline and the conviction that they have in their valuations. This is not a team that's going to throw money around simply to appease their fans... and I respect that.
  12. As much as I love our QB this is simply not the case anymore. Cook is a huge part of this offense and if used more on the passing game he would be another Thurman Thomas. Not only the RB but the defense with so many players contributing played a big part of that huge win against the Bills biggest nemesis. Bills fans are seriously putting far to much emphasis on obtaining a player that really wouldn't do much for the team right now. This team is a run centric offense and they have two WRs in the background that can contribute in Palmer, Davis. Plus for the defense they have Landon Jackson and TJ Sanders, Dorian Strong, Damar Hamlin, DeQuan Jones. Besides what we heard is that Beane was attempting to bring in others but alas other teams wanted to much in trade compensation and we know Beane loves his draft picks. Miami was clearing asking too much from everyone.
  13. Don't know how legitimate this is. I tend not to trust any Twitter accounts that aren't official NFL Media members. But lots of Bills accounts are running with it and Schefter did say he was following a trade that fell through at the last minute:
  14. Doesn't Dawkins hate some of the Jets players? That could be a factor too.
  15. I couldn’t have said it better myself. He’s a treat to watch. Behind our OL, he’s the perfect back. I just wish we’d get to see him in the pass game more. Maybe we’re saving that stuff for the playoffs
  16. 14 left.....it gets tougher pending on who you have already used. I know many will use the Bills this week, but I used them already vs the Saints. I've narrowed my choices to Seattle or Denver, and I am leaning Seattle due to the fact that they don't look usable over the next few weeks after this one. One out of the box pick I am considering, however, is Carolina over the Saints.....I mean, when will you ever want to use Carolina if not this week?? Just thinking they might have a letdown after their big win over the Packers. Who ya got???
  17. I dunno, the NJ Governor race seems like kind of a big one to me. Not even close. And telling that Citarelli avoided campaigning with Trump.
  18. Today
  19. "The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane" And again, Jane's Law (courtesy of Megan McArdle) holds. All the Trumpies who thought there was a new wave of MAGA sentiment, that the Democrats were dead in the water, now discover that being smug and arrogant is not the ticket to retaining power. The loonies won in NYC, but the regular Dems won everywhere else.
  20. Or we could just sign any other JAG with a fast 40 time & serve the same role without risking our defense. I know Coleman's been a dud, but c'mon... lets at least be happy we're seeing a 1st round pick on defense be successful & not push it.
  21. This. We have a lot of pieces locked up comparative to most teams. That’s a factor when looking at our cap space relative to other teams as well. Extend Bosa and McGovern and then see where we are. A guy like Landon Jackson was drafted to replace AJ, who is likely pricing himself out of our range with how well he’s playing this year. In regards to the IOL, we have Anderson, SVPG and Grable who can compete for an open spot. Team is in a good place next year, like it was this year.. which is why I can’t kill Beane for not burning picks on a Shaheed… we lack elite players, not good players.. have plenty of those.
  22. I always thought he had tremendous talent.. with the way the salary cap is in the league I wasn't sure how much we could pay him... I thought 10 11 12 was maximum In our system with our team James Cook is worth every penny.. tremendous draft pick... Tremendous scouting for system fit Closest thing since a Chris Johnson since Chris Johnson He's on Pace for over 1800 yd and like 14 touchdowns... All pro This is going to prolong Josh's career and prolong the bills window... Having this kid who's going to be on a tear for the next 3 or 4 years His vision and speed and even finishing power all shines every Sunday... He runs effortlessly, he makes people miss in a phone booth.. he's knocking helmets off James Cook like Thurman is going to run us into the Super bowl powered behind this offensive line captained by Josh Allen
  23. On the bright side, the shutdown likely ends soon now that it’s done its job in Virginia. NoVa voted for Jay Jones at a higher clip than Kamala Harris.
  24. Instead of hearing you out, can we see you out?
