dynamic kickoffs - will they last? (The Athletic)
Mikie2times replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is in the games DNA to light somebody up. The more likely players are to either A) increase speed or B) reduce awareness of being hit, the higher the risks. Really not surprised here. Certainly more about the perception of player safety than actual player safety. I don't think the NFL gives a F, but they care about people thinking they do. -

@corta765 alluded to this earlier and like I said before, I really wonder if there's anyone on the Bills (coaches or players) who can really set Josh straight and say all the right things to get him into a better headspace... who know what to say when he really needs to hear it. -
No disrespect, but since when do "season" stats indicate his level of play in a specific game? 3rd and 10 - if Allen throws a 4 yard completion resulting in us punting, the stat sheet will show a completion, what it wont show is the wide open guy 12 yards down field he did not throw to that would have converted a first down. I am not using a specific example, I am showing one of a hundred ways just looking at some season stats doesn't show the issues. Stat sheet doesnt show when he has bailed on a clean pocket, doesn't show when he made a poor decision, doesn't show when he had someone open he didn't see, doesn't show how bad of a decision the INT was or throw it was, etc etc. So no disrespect, and I get where you are coming from, but there is nothing on the stat sheet to refute how poorly Allen played against Miami and in patches in all 3 of our losses.

Battle for the Division: Bill and Pats remaining games poll.
Chaos replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
At the 155 vote mark, a majority project 1 loss for the Bills on the remaining schedule. So 13-4 for both. Patriots win the division with a by virtue of having only one loss in the division. Meaning last weeks loss to the Dolphins will be the difference between the #1 seed and the #5 side. This because as I am so often told, the early season games don't really matter. -

This literally goes against every Josh is --- and Hailee was a big reason, according to Josh, for his success last season. Both of them knew what they were getting into- they didnt become a Hollywood star and a NFL QB/MVP after their marriage. Josh is going through something this year, but its way too easy to point the finger at his marriage/Hailee, when this same individual helped Josh (according to him) LY. Everyone taking this "there is more to life than football" comment overboard. Since we are all speculating, I think its a combination of: 1. Mechanics 2. Losing trust in his playmakers/or just lack thereof 3. Lack of consistency at OL/worse play than last year upfront When you start to doubt any aspect of above and lose a shred of confidence, that can make a world of difference. Josh has already been sacked 20x thru 9 games vs 14x for all of 2024 regular season. I think getting the broken nose plays into it, everything does. But if you ask who can flip a switch and get back to MVP form, its obviously Josh. He did it vs Chiefs, we just need to see it more consistently. -
The general rule of thumb GMs use is to devalue picks by 1 round for each further year out. So our 2027 1st rounder is only equivalent to next years 2nd round pick. A 2028 1st round pick would be worth a 3rd round pick in 2026, etc, etc.

I had my nose shattered last year and it definitely messed with my head for a month plus It actually did give me a concussion and I was off
-
Since Dabs has some free time now, maybe we could talk him into giving Josh a talkin' to.

These theories don't have to be competing... they can absolutely co-exist. Everyone knows that different individuals are motivated in different ways. It's possible that the Bills haven't been pressing the right buttons with Keon. When a team is down like this they can fall apart, and start finger pointing or they can... wait for it... Circle the Wagons and turn the adversity into an opportunity to succeed. Like I said earlier I hope Coleman takes all of this to heart and has a career day against the Bucs. Really? I don't follow athletes on IG... are there any posts you can share? I agree with you that the Bills could better use Shakir but as for your theory, Shakir can't possibly have a smaller catch radius than Cole Beasley and it's hard to believe that Josh has lost patience with him.
-
I honestly don't know, and never considered that as I have never broken my nose, so not sure what the effects could be. My guess is that doesn't seem like something that would still be lingering, but I don't really have any frame of reference for that, just me guessing.

dynamic kickoffs - will they last? (The Athletic)
T.E. replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's bizarre, and it's not because of player safety either. If they cared about that, we wouldn't have 17-game schedules, Thursday Night Football, or regular season games in places like Brazil and Germany. Combine the goofy kickoff with allowing the placekickers to use different balls so that they can make 70-yard FGs, and you're looking at (what I believe is) a perversion of the game. -

Let’s run that play after we give up a TD -
Josh Allen has had defeated looks on his face in years past when we lose Plenty of people on this website would talk about the camera zoom in on Josh in the fourth quarter when we haven't scored in 4th Straight drives and he looks defeated That's been said here for years it really is nothing new Most quarterbacks are married and it does not make them just retire... In fact it keeps people like Tom Brady playing Who is Josh's idol

yes it's a dome -
But does it as much anymore? We heard him say Hailee has taught him he is mote than a QB. Add to that The years of failure and knowing nothing is going to change wears on an athlete. And yeah I can see him passing on millions, because he has enough money, he wants to win. You said the magic word it"HAS" been his passion his whole life, his face shows something different now. Not years past, but now.

Differences he wanted 15 million dollars last time and now he's on the practice squad -
Unless you’re implying Hailee is a football, or that Kubiak lives with them, I’m really not following…

It's just weird seeing college football (and even high school) still use traditional kickoffs, and the NFL has instituted this wacky XFL play. I'm not saying it's wrong, just strange. I've seen several KO returners get lit up this season. The collisions with the returners are still bone crunching. Maybe it leads to fewer hard collisions between blockers. -
It's amazing what a season and a half of Keon Coleman will do to a person.

Didn't the Patriots* only sign Diggs for one year? Not much to run out on.
