Battle for the Division: Bill and Pats remaining games poll.
machine gun kelly replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kelly, I’m getting back to Mr. BRIGHTSIDE, but even if the Ravens and us beat the Bills, and I believe that’s possible, not necessarily will happen. The problem is they have to lose to another division opponent. We also have to run the table, and we still have the Bucs (they are still banged up), the Texans (but they aren’t anything on offense), the Pats, and Eagles. The other games are pretty easy. This Dolphins loss is probably the key between AFCE, or Wildcard and most likely 5th seed. -
Who do we want, who do we need as our next HC and, or GM?
Psautcsk replied to jaybeezee's topic in The Stadium Wall
You would think that he is smart enough to see that the Patriots are now the class of the AFC East and it only took them 10 months to get there and that would be a wake up call. A team on the decline with limited cap space and a new stadium should present some urgency to remain relevant. But then again he won't get some new leadership with the new stadium opening. -
I willl let you know at 4 on Sunday

I mean, the talent is there for sure and he would definitely help the offense, but the guy is a headcase. How much of that will come out even more if you give him big $$$? It would make me nervous for us to give him that contract. -

This. Also, four 500-yard guys can’t get in a rhythm with the QB, like one star and one very good WR can. We don’t even have 3 or 4 wideouts on the field together very often. It makes no sense except as an economic theory.

not everyone. I certainly didn’t believe in the noodle arm Mac and cheese just like I didn’t believe in noodle arm Tua. I do believe in Maye. I don’t believe the are ready for any deep playoff run or superbowl yet. I do however believe they will win the division because they are good enough to beat their soft schedule and Vrabel is a good coach that will keep them prepared every week.

TNF Jets @ Pats... Bills discussion allowed as this directly affects us

The DB made a great play. Maye's bombs most of the time are put only where his receivers can catch them. Either they can catch them or dont (overthrown). Hadn't seen many DBs be able to make a play on his bombs. And there have been alot of them -

but the offense was on a heater at the end. The soft shell d scheme blew it. To McDermotts credit, the Chiefs playoff game he started out with a completely different style than normal and was playing to win. in the end though reverted back to coaching scared and playing not to lose, which cost them the game. -

💯. In 21 they had the 9-6 loss vs a terrible jags team. They lost opening day to the Steelers who were putrid. The 21 season was basically all blowouts and terrible losses. Everyone thought the pats were going to win the division. The 21 Bills were simultaneously the best team I've seen since the 1990 team, but also it's most underachieveing and inconsistent. -

What a load of crap. Yes they did. You're one of the people I'm referring to who clearly has no memory of the 2021 regular season. -

In theory they built the offense like that to close out games in January. As to the 2-3 record, they've been in worse spots in 23 and 21. I believe in 23 they were 3-5 over 8 games. KC over 23 & 24 again had these same issues.... The past doesn't equal the future and maybe you're correct. Im confident with this QB, oline and pass rush they'll get to the AFC championship. Once they get that far Allen has to take them home. We'll see In the Allen era starting in 19 they've always won at minimum 10 games 10-5 in 19 And got to the div rd or AFC championship every year since 2020. Only KC has achieved the same.... I have zero fear either if we're on the road for the entire playoff. Never have with Allen. Maybe it's hubris on my part... -
If you miss a field goal, the downside is greater the further the distance, because the opposing offense takes over from that spot. I think the risk/reward is already baked in and you actually don't see the insanely long field goals attempted unless time is expiring at the half or end of game or the team HAS to late in the game to keep their hopes alive.

Well, we moved up 15 picks to take Sanders at 41 so hopefully he’ll start to show us something because we desperately need it. When he was drafted, Beane said Sanders was a 3T who could play some 1T and he had that “inside rush”. He "liked the idea of adding another inside rusher, another guy to pair with Ed on clear passing downs." And, the ability to penetrate and get to the QB is what the Bills want from their DTs with this scheme not any prototypical space eating DTs even at 1T. With Oliver out and Walker/Jones around to play 1T, I guess it’ll be all 3T for Sanders so let’s hope he’s been learning how to play the position at this level while he’s been out and will be able to use that “inside rush” to generate some pressure on the QB and to also get some much needed tackles at and behind the LOS. Also, not to be a downer but it would’ve been interesting to see how playing with Hoecht might have helped Sanders’ game (guess we can say that about just about everyone on the D).

Hate to say this … but the Pats are effing good
P Riv replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I heard a stat that they only have something like 21 players from last years roster, and that all those replacements are upgrades. Bear in mind that last year's coaching has more to do with being 4-13 than the player talent, look at all the one score losses from last year, put that together with new great coaching and scheme, the easy schedule and it all adds up. Looking at us and them by position, by coaching staff, etc. and the only positions we can hang our hat on is QB and OT. It's not like they don't have mismatches in their favor either. I think they're here to stay, kind of like the division was in the mid to late 1990's. Maye is very good, and he's showing improvement, learning from mistakes like a 2nd year player and much like Allen did. That said, I expect the Bills to go into Foxboro and stake their claim to the division. Looking at their 2025 draft class, their number of 2026 picks, their huge cap space, we might be looking up at them next season. Many complain about the Bills this season, but seeing what's on the horizon I'm going to enjoy the rest of 2025.
